Phyans breathed a heavy sigh as the door to his office shut behind him. He felt bad for Lady Emeyr, and was a bit relieved that he was sent to go acquire information so she could get some alone time. He spent a decent amount of time navigating through the defense building's archives, getting frustrated at how complicated it was to find what he was looking for. He eventually just sent a request to Solne, Sama's consul, but to his frustration she liked to respond on her own time. In the meantime, he went to check on his Lady, and they discussed potential ramifications of the arrests.

It just wasn't a great afternoon.

As he returned to his office and moved toward his desk, he saw that the request he had sent came back. Taking a seat, he read the results, his face slowly draining of colour the more he read. When he was done, Phyans sat back for a moment, letting the news sink in. Oh, this was not something he wanted to report, but Emeyr’s orders were clear. Swallowing, he reached for his computer and initiated a call.

“Legate,” an assistant said, poking her head into Orin’s office. There was no doubt that the news of the commodore being shot started making its rounds, and combined with the crew recall there were a bunch of questions still waiting to be answered. There was certainly tension in the air. “Urgent communications coming in from Lady Emeyr’s consul.”

Orin was standing at behind his desk and looking out of the port as he looked down on the homeworld of Teevs. Where Teevs and others were being held while the Commodore and others were up here....fighting over answers and questions. He heard an assistant peak their head into his office and said something about an urgent communication coming in from Lady Emeyr's consul. "Phyans, right?" Orin said to himself, more making sure he remembered which consul went to which Lady.

Orin sat down at his desk and said, "Route it here, please." Then, he waited as the symbol of the United Federation of Planets came onto the screen and Phyans came onto the screen. "What can I do for you, Consul Phyans?"

"Legate, it's good to see you again," Phyans began, offering a faint smile. However, it was clear that he wasn't calling simply to chat. "I was able to get some more information on the arrests. It's not much, unfortunately. The Fourth House is strictly controlling information about this case at the moment. It took about a half hour just to convince the records office to release all the charges."

"What were you able to find out? And were you able to find anything out about who exactly was arrested? Cause, I know Teevs was. But, we're missing others too. I think Major Richardson, the leader of my diplomatic protection team has gone missing and a few others have too, the last I heard?" Andrinn asked, curious as to what Phyans was able to find out.

Phyans sighed on the other end. "I hope you are seated, Legate." He looked down to transmit his findings to Orin before he looked back up. "I just sent you my findings for your records. I was able to find sixteen people in total. Your protection officer has three charges of assault of a royal guard, but I have been receiving pushback when I ask for more information. There were guards admitted to the infirmary at the time of his arrest, though, so something did happen. Two others also have assault charges. Most of your people on that list, minus Mister Richardson, are accused of misprision of treason, meaning they somehow admitted to knowing Teevs or the crime he has committed. One of them, an Addison Leyton, also has a class 3 illegal possession charge."

He paused to read what was left. "As for Teevs, his charges are treason and class 3 illegal possession. I sent you the sections of the Bedia Convention being cited, but in short he had some kind of interaction with our neighbouring species, the Kavai, which is not allowed here. I suspect that Teevs and Miss Leyton were arrested together if they have similar charges." Phyans became a little unsettled as he finished. "I was curious to see what is causing the illegal possession charge, and right before I contacted you I got a response. The evidence on record is a half-Kavai child. Lonians and Kavai aren't supposed to interact with each other, let alone bear children with each other. There is also a confession from Teevs on record, which means... well... his verdict is highly unlikely to change."

Andrinn just sat back in his chair, still on the line with Phyans as he explained everything. "What can you tell me about the whole thing between your species and the Kavai? Again, name doesn't instantly ring a bell, but it doesn't mean we haven't interacted with them in the short time that we've been here. Is that information included with the stuff you've sent over or can you send it over while you explain it to me?"

"They are the species residing on Niea V, the adjacent planet," Phyans answered. "I'll get the literature sent over to you, but I can still discuss it so you have something to report to your people. Our species have been fighting each other for thousands of cycles. We share a common ancestor, but our literature says the Kavai came from the lower caste and the Lonians came from the upper caste. The lower caste had a dermaglyph integrated into their genetics, an upside down crescent, so they'd be easier to identify as part of the working class. Our star had an off-gassing event that destroyed Niea III and separated the two castes, and that isolation eventually made us into distinct species."

Andrinn sat back and instantly thought about the Romulans and the Vulcans. They shared a common ancestor, but nobody really knew outside the two species until sometime in the middle of the 23rd century. "Thank you for sending over the information. It looks like we're uploading it to our computers now. But, as a Lonian, what can you tell me about these people? What, in your experience, has it been like?"

Phyans gave Orin a hint of a strained smile, one that hopefully conveyed that he would love to indulge the man if Phyans weren't sitting in a surveilled government building. "Members of a House's court are to maintain neutrality on such matters, Legate. I'm afraid all I can do is direct you to our public records office."

"I wouldn't want to get you in trouble Phyans. But, you've definitely gotten me more information than I would have gotten otherwise. There's an old human saying of, 'Pray for us.' So, pray for us Phyans," Andrinn said with a chuckle as he knew that it probably would have flown over the other man's head.

"Believe me, Legate. I would not want to be in your situation, and I wish you all the best. If there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me." The look from Phyans indicated he was sincere. If the others from this vessel were anything like Orin, then he felt bad that they got caught up in legal nonsense.

Orin said, "Thank you, Phyans. Lord only knows I'm probably going to get shit on for some stuff. But, here's to hoping both our jobs don't get any worse today. Good luck." With that, Orin closed the line and just leaned back in his chair as he grabbed a few PADDs and started to download the information that he could find and already had.
