The gorn medical officer checked his rifle as he stepped out of the turbolift with a medical bag slung over his back. He nooded to the team as he walked over to the shuttle. Time to do the hard part of this job.

"Shuttle 1, you have a green light. Good luck" came the voice of the shuttle bay chief.

In the cockpit Garrett replied, "Roger control." He then looked at the pilot "Go." He ordered.

The Shuttle touched down a kilometer from where the signal was sent from. In deep cover of the trees, the prison was just visible through the foliage.

Garrett was the first one out of the shuttle, his tricorder in hand. He looked around the guard towers were just able to be seen through the trees. "Alright everyone out. Time to find our people." He pointed at two Marines. "Stay with the shuttle and stay alert."

PFC Anderson and Lance Corporal O'Malley looked at each other briefly and then back at the commander. They had wanted to go on the mission but get stuck with guarding the shuttle? "Aye, sir," the two said in unison before falling back.

Corporals Kanye and Stewart and Lance Corporal Schmidt grinned at the two. "Don't get your hands dirty ladies," Lance Corporal Sara Schmidt teased the two in a whisper, getting a finger in return from Lance Corporal O'Malley.

Lovejoy looked at Anderson and O'Malley. "I know it's not what you signed up for but someone needs to stay with the shuttle so we have a way off this planet and you two are elected." He paused unless you can show me good reason that you shouldn't stay here."

"It's ok, sir," Corporal Stewart replied. "They're boots and just eager for some action is all. They'll stick with the shuttle, as ordered.

Jason stepped out and made ready his rifle. It had been along time since he had to fight and he kinda wished to stay with the shuttle but he wouldn't skip his duty as an security officer to rescue his Captain.

Lovejoy nodded at Stewart's reply and was about to ask the CMO if he had anything on his tricorder when he noticed something in Morris's body language. He walked over to the Lieutenant and asked, "Something Lieutenant?"

[[Away teams, please be aware, the fighters are starting their strathing runs!]] Avalons voice crackled in their ear comms.

"Iv been behind a desk for a long time, just shaking off some cobwebs sir." Jason nervously chuckled as he looked at the Commander. " Tell me was you want me to do and I'll do it."

Garrett nodded, making a mental note of what the Lieutenant said. "I see. Well shake them off fast Lieutenant. We need you at your best. That's what I want."

Overhead there was the scream of fighter engines and fire exploded between them and the prison.

Jason looked at the explosions and his eyes widened." Aye sir."

"Good man." Garrett looked around, "Alright people we're picking up Human and Trill bio signs off to the west about one click away. So lets get moving, get our people and get off this rock."

The away team moved swiftly as they dared, avoiding areas where they would be seen clearly.

They passed a Federation Shuttle, clearly identified as the missing shuttle and obviously damaged by Romulan weapons fire.

They exited a small grove of trees and paused, surveying the area, and looking for the bio signs owners.

"Hold up", Mona called. Her tricorder was picking up an energy signature. "Do you see what I'm seeing, about fifty metres down that path?" She looked at Anya, who nodded.

"It's a disruptor turret", Anya concluded. "I've seen them before. They're probably set to target anything that's not a Romulan.

"How important is it that they don't know we're here?" Mona asked.

It's very important." Lovejoy replied. "How much of a detour do we need to make to go around that thing?"

"In the dense wood, another hundred metres should do", Anya said.

"Yes, but if I were them, I'd place the turret along the path as the obvious trap, and mines or other nasties hard to spot in the surrounding forest", Mona said.

"Well crap." Lovejoy answered. That wasn't the answer he wanted to hear. "Good point Corporal Lott. Then the direct approach is what we'll do. Stay to the woods until we're closer. Than we can hit it with either grenades or the rocket launcher."

Gary had already moved away from the shuttle. Taam going with him. They were heading for the "Depths" where Phoenix was being held.

Taam stayed on Gary's six, in the past it would've been reversed, but this was different, this was personal for him and Taam wasn't about to cheat him of his vengeance. He looked down briefly as the stolen Romulan tricorder on his belt, there were energy readings all over the place, "Great, the Rommies decided to keep one thing up to specs and it had to be the damned disruptor turrets..." From his readings there must be dozens of them here.

The big gorn who was doing his best to keep up and be as quiet as possible despite his frame. He was keeping his eyes on his scanner on his wrist as the team made their way away from the crashed shuttle. A faint signal on his scanner made him halt. he raised his hand to make the team stop through the first-hand gesture he raised was the one used by the KDF. He quickly corrected before speaking. " Sssubssspace ripplesss five feet ahead. lassst time i sssaw readingsss like that was during the domnion war when the dominion deployed Houdinisss to delay usss."

Garrett listened as Sthilg gave his opinion on the readings. "Any way to detonate the Houdini's prematurely? Overload their systems?" He suggested.

The gorn pulled his bag from his back and pulled out a few of the hyposprays with blood plasma. " When I wasss with the KDF in the dominion war we found they could be ssset off if you tricked them into thinking sssomeone wounded was blundering through the area. Doesss sssomeone have a ssspare gel pack for any of their gear?" he asked.

"Who carries gel packs into combat?" Anya wondered. She certainly hadn't. "Is this something commonplace these days?"

Garrett sighed a bit impatiently. "Okay, I think the gel packs are a no go. Is there any other way to detonate the Houdini's without walking into one?"

"Chase a bunch of animals through the field", Anya suggested.

"That's hardly fair", Mona complained. "Besides, if we couldn't blow up the turret for fear of being detected, why is it suddenly a good idea to blow up the mine?"

Lance Corporal Schmidt had an idea as she removed her glove and drew her Ka-bar. She quickly tapped in some commands into her tactical tricorder to emit a bio sample and removed it. "I have an idea that may work. Corporal Stewart, could you hold my tricorder for a moment?"

"What have you got, Schmidt?" Stewart asked as he took the tricorder. "Commander Stihlg's idea reminded me of a story my father told me of a trick he used to fool Cardassian Weapon Systems back in the war." She drew the Ka-Bar across the inside of her palm, grimacing as the blade cut into her flesh. She the wiped her hand over her tricorder until it was dripping in blood. "We should move out immediately," she suggested as she jogged several yards forward and launched her tricorder as far as she could.

Garrett watched as the Corporal cut her hand and ran it over her tricorder to establish a bio sample. As she threw it, he yelled at the others, "You heard the lady! Lets move it! We have people to find!"

Jason jumped upto run when the commander yelled. His rifle at the ready to dispatch the first bad guy who is unlucky enough to pass in front of him.

(OOC: Doing a slight time jump)

Making it past the Houdini's, Garrett received a message from the Elysium. "The Captain and Commander Taylor have been found! Now lets find Commanders Qwyyn and Holmes and get off this hellhole."

"Sir, I recommend we split the team to cover more ground." Jason said while he was behind the Commander, his head stopping for only the sentence before it was back to a swivel.

The comm crackled and Avalon's voice came over the comm. "Commander Lovejoy, our sensors are tracking you, you are about 200 meters from the area you need to be in."

200 meters was through a corpse of trees. Beyond there was the gleam of metal.

Garrett was about to reply when Avalon cut in and delivered her message. "Understood Avalon." Turning to Morris he answered, "A good commander doesn't split his force when he doesn't know the enemy's location. We'll stay together Lieutenant. You heard Avalon, we're two hundred meters away. Lets go."

OOC: Lovejoy--We are finishing this post. New one starting finding Holmes and Qwyyn.
