Mission:
Episode 1: Hell is a four letter word
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After Away Team 3 Rescue
375 words - 0.8 OF Standard Post Measure
Gary sat on a bio bed in the Elysium's Sickbay as doctors and nurses hovered around him like a swarm of angry bees. They treated the wounds on his torso. took his blood pressure, monitored his heart and in short made nuisances of themselves as they poked and prodded. While they did Gary did something he hadn't done since he was a boy. He prayed. Not lip service praying but actual honest to goodness praying. He didn't pray for himself as he was beyond redemption or ask for forgiveness for himself but he prayed for his friends. Specifically Phoenix, Lia and Liselle. He prayed that their injuries both physical and mental would and could be treated and that they could return to their previous lives with no lasting ill effects and peace would replace the strife and turmoil they had recently gone through. It was a small act but heartfelt as their torture and abuse had been because of him or rather because the Romulans wanted him. So they beat and abused his friends mercilessly.
As he prayed a song entered his head. It had been his favorite hymn as a boy. But as the years passed it had fallen out of favor just as he was sure he had as more modern and popular songs came along. Now though he found comfort in the words. As he silently sang 'Amazing Grace."
He only prayed that this one prayer would be answered. His friends deserved that and needed it.
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught
My heart to fear
And grace my Fears relieved
How precious did
That grace appear
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers
Toils and snares
We have already come
'Twas grace hath brought
Us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home
When we've been there
Ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We'll have no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see.
