Location: Sickbay
Timeline: During Heaven On Earth

Having a full medical exam was one thing, and hopefully, it would help his case for having a slightly unique shift schedule. But having the exam being performed by someone who legit terrified him was a horrific prospect. ~He's a nice guy, you've already met him.~ S'hib thought to himself reassuringly, though he helped little to calm his heart rate.

"Hey, Doctor?" He said from outside the sickbay, nervously trotting inside with his nerves on edge, This was the safest place on the ship yet he felt like it was walking into the den of a beast.

The door to the sickbay opened as the footsteps of the big gorn could be heard. The door slid open as a the gorn held the door open for one of the ships many ensigns. The human woman had a smile on her face as she headed towards the turbolift. The gorn had a polite but warm smile on his face as well as he turned to S'hib. " Now Mr Sss'hib you need a full medical exam don't you."

"Yeah, I do." S'hib said edging past the massive Gorn and further into sickbay. "I feel fine, Just struggling with sleeping properly." He added, his ears focused on Sthilg the entire time.

"Well just hop onto the biobedsss and we'll get you ssseen to." The gorn said as he walked over to one. A few old books were on the small work table that the lizard quickly piled onto the lower level. " Sorry about the messss. The lassst patient was rather tricky. " He said calmly as he fired up the console. " So you've been having problemsss sssleeping?"

Walking slowly over to the biobed S'hib nosily tried to look at the names on the spines of the books. "The problem is the sleeping, It's everything else stopping me from sleeping." He said, frustrated with his inability to get his thoughts across.

"My species sleep in shorter more frequent periods," S'hib added, climbing onto the bioped. "With shifts lasting eight hours... It's becoming exhausting." He said feeling his body sink into the strangely comfortable medical bed.

" If that is the problem couldn't you asssk for altred work hoursss?" The gorn inquired. Sleep wasn't a problem for him. Long hours in the hospital had taught him to push himself far beyond the usual limit. Combined with the picked up skill to sleep anywhere including standing up.

S'hib stared blankly at the Gorn for a moment before simply putting his head into his hands and quietly laughing to himself, the irony of it all finally getting to him. "The reason I am here, Is because I asked for altered work hours." S'hib said looking back up, his frustrated chuckle turning into a long sigh. "As I stated to my superiors I'm not asking to work less, In fact, I'd be able to cover more shifts If my rota is tweaked to accommodate my physiology." S'hib finished sternly. "However at present, I am barely sleeping and I feel it is negatively impacting my role on this ship." He added with a gruff snort.

The gorn was feeling rather confused by all of this. " I'll be able to get the proof of that in no time, but thisss is an issssue that ssshould have been cleared up at the academy or during recruitment."

"It wasn't an issue back then, Nobody really pays attention if you fall asleep with your eyes open in class." S'hib replied with a huff.

" Well, you ssshould have told sssomeone. Arrangementsss could have been made. " The gorn said as he looked at the results. All clear signs of sleep deprivation. " Isss there any other reassson you never informed anyone of your peoplesss sssleeep cyclesss?" He asked politly.

"There is only a handful of Sequus in Starfleet currently... I didn't want any special treatment, I was just trying to make a good impression." He said with a heavy sigh. "There is just a lot of pressure for me to do well." S'hib added, rubbing his eyes. "At least there feels like there is anyway."

" Well, we need are Sssequusss officersss at the bessst of their abilitiesss .Next time inform ssstarfleet medical of any issssuesss your having " The gorn doctor said as he typed something on the computer.

"That is something I am painfully aware of, doctor." S'hib said with an exasperated sigh.

" Well from this I can definitely give you a medical order that your work hoursss be altered to better fit with your people'sss sssleep pattern." the gorn said as he handed the ensign a copy.

“Thank you doctor, one less thing I have to worry about now.” S’hib said forcing a smile as he took the PADD

" Just make sssure you inform medical off any other habbits your ssspeciesss hasss. We don't want thisss to happen again." the gorn said calmly.

“If anything comes to mind I will do.” S’hib said shrinking into the biobed, The less people who knew about his troubles the better he thought.

Jason walked into the sickbay and headed straight towards the medical officer office.

" Ah, lieutenant Morrisss." The gorn said turning as he heard the door open. " I have the resssultsss right here. The ensign will need hisss work schedule updated to meet hisss peoplesss sssleep patternsss." He said professionally

"Very well doctor, please note it in his file and have the suggested times please." Jason said kindly to him.

" Off course." The gorn said with a polite nod.

S'hib simply rubbed his temples as the two officers spoke. "Am I free to get back to my duties?" He said looking at neither, in particular, wanting this whole ordeal to end.

"If there is nothing else you need to know Doctor, then we can leave you to your things." Jason said.
