Mission:
2395 - A Christmas Time
Location: Hoffman-Norris Quarters
Timeline: before the Christmas Party
493 words - 1 OF Standard Post Measure
It was almost time for the Christmas Party, the most wonderful time of the Elysium's year, and while Kara readied herself in the bathroom, Gallia had to get a certain little Blueberry ready for the party, "Tay, ye ready te see Sana, darlin'?" She asked brightly, knowing full well the baby had nothing on her mind for the entire day but this party.
"Sana!" Tayalas exclaimed, clapping her little hands in excitement.
"Well, let's get ye ready then." Gallia smiled, lifting Tayalas out of her playpen, "Aye, yer a right mess, aren't ye?" The little girl's face was covered in chocolate, she'd fallen asleep for about an hour after unleashing hell on a cookie earlier, "Alright, poke out yer lips."
Tayalas giggled and made the kissy face while Mama wiped her face with a damp cloth, cooing as she finished.
"Right, now we should clean them teeth o yers." Gallia smiled, setting Tay back down for a second to go into the bathroom and retrieve the baby's toothbrush and toothpaste, orange flavored, Tay's favorite. She watched Kara in the shower for a second on the way in and again on the way out, wondering how she got so lucky...
Walking back out she took Tayalas back into her arms and walked with her to the kitchen sink, putting a dab of toothpaste on the bristles and saying, "Alright, smile for mama, love."
Tayalas giggled and grinned, this was fun for her and the tooth stuff tasted so good. She maintained her smile while Mama cleaned her teeth, drinking the water she was offered and spitting it into the sink, "Sana!" This time it meant 'all clean.'
"Aye, and would ye look at that smile!" Gallia said proudly, her baby girl had another tooth coming in, "Now all that's left is yer hair." She took Tayalas off of the kitchen counter and back into her arms, sitting the baby beside her on the couch and getting her tiny hair brush out of the bag, "Right then, let's run a brush through this and then we'll let Mama Kara put ye in a pretty dress."
"Mama." Tayalas agreed. She'd noticed she had two mamas, most of the other babies only had one, she wondered why that was sometimes, but mostly she was just happy when they were both around, Mama Kara kept red hair mama from being too cranky. Maybe she gets her to take a nap...Tayalas guessed, that was what people usually did when they were getting cranky, right?
A minute or so later and Tayalas' thick white mane, which was getting so long out of nowhere Gallia noted, was straightened out, "Well, there we go, looks like someone's one pretty dress from bein' ready to see Sana."
"Sana." Tayalas smiled softly, she loved him. Pointing back to herself she said, "Preddy?"
"Very, darlin'." Gallia answered, "Best thing in mah life."
"Sana." Tayalas smiled, it seemed like Mama needed encouragement.

An absolutely first rate post. Adorable and touching, hits on the all the right notes especially the all encompassing love between a mother and her child. Told in the first rate style we have come to expect from this writer.
As the song says, "No one does it better!"
