One for The Road

Mission: Casperia Prime - A lesson in relaxation
Location: Holodeck 2
Timeline: TBD
902 words - 1.8 OF Standard Post Measure

Gary was alone, in the holodeck. He had finished making the changes to the program for himself and Lia. But there was one other piece
of business left to tend to.

He sighed and took a breath, "Computer play Taylor wedding reception."

In an instant the holodeck was transformed to the wedding reception for himself and Catlin. She was in his arms, smiling that smile he found
so irresistible. "I love you Gary Taylor." She whispered putting her head on his shoulder.

"I love you Catlin. Now and forever." He whispered in return as he waltzed her around the dance floor.

"Of course." She giggled, "I've got you under my spell."

"Yes definitely. I'm not complaining. I like it."

"Well. I'm glad for that. It would make being married hard if you had reservations." She bantered.

"Never." He assured her.

"Can you believe it Gary? Here we are married, in a couple of days we head out on the Solstice. It's a dream come true."

"A dream I never want to end Catlin."

"Gary, you are a hopeless romantic and I love it and you. Never change." She said standing on her tip toes to kiss him. He hugged her fiercely never wanting to let her go. He peppered her face with kisses, each one was as sweet as honey. He drank in her perfume. It was intoxicating! He could get drunk on kissing Catlin. She was the best thing to ever come into his life. He smiled , "No chance of that Catlin. You make being easy romantic." he told her. She looked at him, "Hey, we're married. You got me, I'm not going anywhere. You can stop being mushy." She teased him. He shook his head and grinned back at her, "Mushy?" He said faking offense, "I'm being sincere and my bride says I'm being mushy." He countered playfully. She laughed, it was like the tinkling of bells and infectious. He soon joined her and they were standing in the middle of the dance floor laughing as the guests looked on and stared at them, sharing looks that said. *What a pair. Their made for each other.* Truth was Catlin and Gary complimented each other perfectly. She was charismatic with a bright smile and ready wit. Gary was a loner, except for Catlin and a few select friends. His humor was more biting , sarcastic. Catlin was open, Gary was closed with everyone except Catlin who he told everything. She was his wife, best friend, lover and confidant. Catlin cried at old romantic vids they would watch, where he would hand her tissue after tissue. She was compassionate, he appeared aloof, distant.

They danced some more. He treasured each second just as he had when they had first been married. Soon he and Lia would be married and he loved her as much as he loved Catlin. Lia wasn't Catlin and he could never confuse the two. However was just as smart and sexy as Catlin, had a great sense of humor. Could hold her own in an argument and wasn't afraid to speak her mind and let him know just what she thought. She had helped him bring the walls down that he had put up when Catlin died. He remembered with a mental grin, how they first met and they hated each other. A mission to Risa changed all that and now they were on the cusp of being married.

He looked down at Catlin, smiled again as they glided across the dance floor. A new life would soon be starting but he would always love what he had with Catlin. However for a few more minutes he was with Catlin. This was her time, her moment in the spotlight, one last time. He smiled, held her tighter as the song "The Power of Love." began to play in the background.

Power of love is a curious thing
It makes one man weep and another man sing
Change a hawk to a little white dove
More than a feeling that's the power of love
It's tougher than diamonds and rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream
Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right
Power of love that keeps you home at night
You don't need money, don't take fame
Don't need no credit card to ride this train
It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
That's the power of love
That's the power of love
The first time you feel it, it might make you sad
Next time you feel it, it might make you mad
But you'll be glad, oh, when you've found
The power that makes the world go 'round
Don't need money, don't take fame
Don't need no credit card to ride this train
It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
They say that all in love is fair
Oh, yeah, but you don't care
But you know what to do
When it gets a hold of you
And with a little help from above
You feel the power of love
Feel the power of love, yeah
It don't need money, it don't take fame
Don't need no credit card to ride this train
It's tougher than diamonds and it's stronger than steel
And you won't feel nothin' 'till, until you feel

Oh my GOD!!! This set me to weeping less than a full paragraph in! Having lost a lover myself recently (not to death) my heart bleeds for this wonderful man! Please, never write the post where you delete this program, that might finish me. SO BEAUTIFUL!

I must have missed this post first time round, once again this writer takes us into his past and his love for his first wife. A beautifully written post, and one he should be proud of.
