Mission: Season 3: Episode 4: Cause and Effect
Location: Lia and Gary's cabin
Timeline: Before departure

Lia sat in the cabin waiting for Gary to return, his duty shift was over and she had decided to have a long talk with him. The forth coming marriage, her trip to the holodeck with S'hib and many other things. They hadn't talked fully since seeing the Captain, maybe it was time they did.

A few minutes passed before Gary entered their cabin, he saw Lia sitting on the sofa waiting for him, looking like she had something she wanted to talk about with him Walking over he kissed her softly, "What a shift." He exclaimed as he sat down next to her, closing his eyes and letting his head fall back against the couch.

"You want a drink? Or a shower first?" She lent forwards and kissed him again, "Listen honey, we need to talk. Clear the air, set boundaries". Crossing to the replicator she ordered a cold chocolate milkshake, she turned to Gary to see what he wanted or what he was going to do.

Gary smiled at her kiss, "I like that." He muttered. A few seconds later Gary's eyes opened and he lifted his head from the couch when Lia said they needed to talk. Looking at Lia he asked, " Clear the air? Set boundaries?" He questioned "Am I missing something?"

"No, your not missing anything. But we live different lives right now, you have your duties and I have mine. You have your staff issues, and like wise I have mine", she pointed to the replicator. "You want a drink?" She took a sip from her milkshake, "I just think we need to tell each other how we want to do things, so we don't end up arguing over silly things that we shouldn't be arguing about". She took a breath and glanced at the floor, "I don't know any of your friends that well, I certainly don't keep tabs on you to see what your up to". She looked back at Gary, "But I do wonder what your up to, I care about you. I'm not saying you have to tell me everything, but a general idea would help. You have other female friends, I know that. And I'm not about to ban you from seeing them". She smiled as she continued, "A certain little blue female has a very important place in your heart right now, which I have to accept even though I feel a little left out". Now she got a bit more serious, "All joking aside, I think we need to set boundaries so we don't upset or disrespect the other".

Gary continued to look at her, "A vanilla milkshake please," The continued, "I certainly agree about not arguing over silly things as well as how we want to do things so we're both on the same page and are looking at a problem from the same angle." He chuckled as he said his next, "I hope you care about me Lia, I certainly care and love you as to my friends their an elite group. You saw Taam on the shuttle and at the prison. We've been friends for years. A lot of my friends don't socialize. You could say their lone wolfs. My female friends are just that female friends. I'll tell you anything you want to know. As for a certain little blue female, don't feel left out join in. She's adorable and you would hit it off instantly with her. I'm confused about the boundaries. Have I over stepped them?"

She smiled and replied, "One vanilla milkshake coming up". After ordering the drink she placed it in front of Gary, and sat down beside him. "I don't need to know about your other female friends, that's what I'm talking about. And as for your lone wolf friends, I also get that and I'm not going to push it further. As for the blueberry, she's all yours. I have Angel for now, and who knows what might happen further down the line". Lia snuggled further into Gary, "As for boundaries, I don't know if you've crossed them. And its that I'm getting at, you see I have a certain member of staff with a few problems. And just as you did with me when I had my problem, I'm trying to help with his problem". She waited for Gary's response, knowing how he might look on her helping a male with a problem.

Gary shook his head, "No, what I'm saying is there is nothing to tell as far as my female friends." He sighed, "I'm not shutting you out." He took a breath, "In addition to my duties here on the Elysium I also work for the Admiral. You met her in Phoenix's office awhile back. We're problem eliminators and every so often she needs my services. My code name is Grey Wolf by the way. As for the blueberry, have it your way. Though I know she'd love to have you as a friend." He wrapped his arm around her. "A certain member of your staff who happens to be a male. Just how are you trying to help him with his problem Lia?''

"The blueberry dots on you Santa, only a fool would even think about getting in between you two". She kissed him again, "And I've worked out the relationship between you and a certain Ambassador, your code name has just bypassed my ears". Lia could tell Gary was getting slightly confused and angry, "I know your not shutting me out, I trust you remember? If I thought differently, we wouldn't be getting married. Now my problem Officer was in the same situation as we were, held against his will and abused. He invited me to see his world on the holodeck, I went and to be honest it was different". She now took a deep breath, "I was also naked, as was he. But nothing happened, he just showed me a part of his world and we talked. I also learned more about his species, and how they do things. So I can help him when he hits the stops, which right now is pretty regular just like I did". Lia waited for the response she knew was coming.

Gary returned the kiss. Lia's talking reminded him of the old saying waiting for the other shoe to drop. As she continued to talk he became more sure of it. "Well now you know it." He quipped and moved on, "I trust you too Lia and I agree if I thought I couldn't we wouldn't be getting married." As she described her problem officer, Gary knew who it was but for the sake of maintaining privacy he didn't state the name. He did stiffen at Lia's mention of being naked along with her problem officer. "I see." He said evenly. "I appreciate your honesty in this situation Lia and I think it's wonderful you want to help him. That said I'm not thrilled with you being naked just like he was. I understand it was non sexual. However your my wife or soon will be and i feel you should be naked only for my eyes." He sighed, "I'm sorry if that disappoints you or you consider me old fashion. But your special to me Lia."

His response was as she expected, "I'm glad we trust each other, and love that fact you care about me that much". She stood up and walked to the wardrobe, and removed what could be described as a see through dress. "This is my (Egyptian dress), the next time I go on the holodeck with my problem Officer its what I'll be wearing". Before Gary could voice his disapproval she continued, "It's his normal way to be naked, I've done it once but I really don't want to do it again. So this is my compromise, I feel covered and in some light you can't see through this. And in another way, I'm still abiding by his peoples way". Lia joined Gary again and hugged him tightly, "You don't disappoint me, and I already knew you were old fashioned. And you should know you special to me to, that's why I wanted this talk. I need you to know I worry about upsetting you, or disappointing you".

Gary opened his mouth to protest but closed it as Lia explained the situation with her officer. When she had finished Gary spoke. "I think that is a good compromise and one I can support and live with Lia. I am also glad to hear you say you don't want to be naked again." He grew quiet as Lia returned to him and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back and patted her back. "I love you very, very, much Lia, thank you for putting up with my old fashion ways." He pulled back to look at her, "I want us to promise to always talk so we don't have to worry about upsetting the other and for the record you never disappoint me. Surprise me? For sure Shock? Yeah that too but never disappoint me." he pulled her back down on the couch. "Now you said you wanted to talk but it's been more of you telling me what took place on the holodeck. So is there anything you want to know about me and my extra curricular activities ?"

Now that reaction caught her on the hop, "Yeah if you want to talk about it, just how often am I gonna loose out the Queen? And will she still want me, now I'm not the head of CDID?" She felt things had cleared a little, but also knew there was still much to find out about. "Is there anything about me you want to know about? Just make sure you have a clear run to the door". She laughed as she stated the last part, pointing at the door.

"Well I can't give you names and places but I'll be glad to talk you. You should know, I'm very, very, good at what I do. As for loosing out to the Queen, I'd say very seldom and she very much wants you Lia and she'll include you in some of the tasks we under take. She is very impressed with you. Not that i blame her. You've earned her trust." He shook his head, "I know all I need to know about you and that is that you are one hell of a lady and I love you very much."

"I don't know what the hell I did to earn it, but I'm surprised that I have". His answer about not needing to know anything about her, made her think. "You may be a gentleman in your answer, but I think there is something you really want to know. So one time offer, ask me anything and I'll answer it. But after this, you'll get no response to the question ok?"

"You don't give yourself enough credit Lia. The Admiral knows all about you from your time as a Starfleet Intel officer as well as your time here on the Elysium. So don't be surprised. Be honored. her trust is not given lightly." He leaned forward and kissed her. "Lia what you did before we met doesn't concern me. I'm interested in us in the here and now but I do have a question. Did you really hate me as much as you appeared to when we first met?"

A smile now crossed over her face, "Did I hate you? And how much did I hate you?" She sat and thought about it and then slowly answered, "I hated your guts with a passion, Your pompous and condescending attitude really pissed me off, and your total lack of understanding seemed unbelievable". She hugged Gary closer to her, "Yeah I hated you, but somehow we just couldn't escape from each other. The more I tried to stay away from you, the more situations and people seemed to put us together". Lia now kissed Gary's lips, "Now I couldn't imagine a day without you, your still impossible at times and your old fashioned. But that's just you, and I love you for it". She looked at him and then asked, "Tell me truthfully, just what did you see in me? And why me when you could have had Liselle or any other female Officer aboard?"

Gary smiled at Lia's reply even as she hugged him then kissed him on the lips. " Wow. I knew you hated me but with a passion that is saying something. Was my attitude really pompous and condescending? All I say is opposites attract Lia." He replied softly then chuckled as she said he was still impossible at times and old fashion. "Me impossible? Yeah probably and I am old fashion." He admitted, "And I'm fortunate to have you Lia. Now as to what I saw in you. I saw fierce pride and unwillingness to back down. You stuck to your guns you didn't sacrifice your beliefs. You refused to be cowed. That impressed me and I wanted to know you better to see if it was real or just an act." He smiled at her. "And it was and before long I felt myself falling in love with you and I am very much in love with you."

She gently pushed him in the ribs, "Very pompous and extremely condescending, I can still remember our first argument, all because I wouldn't tell you my plan". She looked into his eye's, "But that's history, this is now. And things that back then seemed important, now look a little silly because now I trust you". She felt embarrassed, but she wanted to make sure he knew there would be no secrets between them.

He let out a slow whistle, "Wow, I had honestly had no idea." He shook his head and smiled, "I can remember it as well. You standing in my office, with your hands on your hips and saying very loudly you wouldn't trust me if I was the last person alive. But it's water under the bridge now." He grinned at her, "At least that's changed and I trust you completely,never think I don't."

"I feel like another drink, do you want another?" She stood and then had a small laugh, "And that's another thing Mr. Taylor that your responsible for, my partaking of alcohol to whit Sake". She walked over to the replicator and ordered another chocolate milkshake, "Well have you made your mind up?" She could feel his eye's looking at her body, as she was only wearing a Yukata and little else. "If you wish to engage in other activities, please say so. I'm sure your request won't go unanswered".

He laughed heartily at her saying he was responsible for her partaking in Sake. "I take full responsibility Lia." He nodded, "Sure, I'll take another vanilla milkshake." He smiled, "I have made my mind up and I very much wish to make love to you Lia Holmes what do you say to that?" He grinned at her "Oh one last thing, "You are planning on being dressed for the wedding right?" He said laughing.

Collecting both milkshakes, she made her way back to him. Placing both drinks on the table she stood back up, with a shrug of her shoulders the Yukata fell from her body leaving her naked in front of him. "I seem to be agreeing with you, once we've finish our drinks of course". She sat down beside him allowing easy access to her, and enjoying his touch. "I will be dressed for the ceremony and the party afterwards, but once I return to the family home. How long I remain dressed, will depend on my then husband and his desires". She placed her glass down on the table and took Gary's glass from him, "Forget the drinks, shall we go?" Standing up she followed Gary in to the bedroom, and the pair simply fell into bed.
