Imik was in her cabin meditating, the thrill of flying fighters again had made her excited. She wondered if the Federation Sinkahue would allow her to fly again? After the attempted Romulan kidnapping attempt, she doubted her hosts would ever allow her to pilot a shuttle let alone a fighter. She stood up her anger spoiling her meditation, frustration at being a pilot and not flying made for one very upset and angry Ojnas.

She moved to the replicator and stood looking at it, using her mind Imik burrowed deep inside it and commanded a chocolate milkshake. The machine now stirred into life and produced the required beverage, Imik removed herself from the memory of the device. Picking up the milkshake she went and sat down in the middle of the room, her ability to operate electronic devices in that way was unknown to her Federation hosts. The Grand Council had ordered her to not expose it to them, the Council felt the Federation would not understand and fear her kind.

Even among her own kind Ojnas such as she were rare, at one time the P'som Tee would have claimed her. But now she was allowed to follow her own path, even to the degree that she flew and fought along side male Ojnas unlike her fellow sisters. And she had proven herself during that short but bloody war, the four mission stars on her uniform evidence of the hard battles she and her squadron had fought. Ekotsy had been a costly mission, seven of her fellow pilots did not return from that catastrophe. And that was only her squadron, others had faired even worse.

Imik now finished her milkshake and returned the empty glass to the replicator, her mind longed to wander free again. But this to had been forbidden, the Envoy Sachzny had shown the Federation that skill and had suffered for it. She had heard of the Envoy from her mother, but parts of the Envoy's story made no sense. Why had the Federation prevented her execution? And not just once but twice, even the sentence of servitude had been opposed. Imik had watched these bipeds closely, but had yet to fathom how or why they did what they did. Her own house had doubts about the Envoy, but she had returned to the Federation and forsaken her Ojnas heritage. This was unheard of, and frowned upon.

In an attempt to calm her mind, Imik walked to the holodecks and found a free one. She had a program which she now downloaded into the computer, it was her home planet in the Agephia system. The bright pink sky with it's two suns was still very new to her, the colour was caused by tiny particles high in the atmosphere and the twin suns refracting between them. Imik walked to her new home and smiled as she reached it, the bungalow type building with its wide veranda offered much needed shade in the afternoon. But reality now intruded into her happiness, she remembered she had to have a tracker fitted and undergo a medical.

Closing down her program, she left the holodeck and slowly walked to the sickbay. Yet another thing she did not understand, why did they separate the sick and injured from their loved ones and companions? A most heinous act by any civilised people, yet these Federation peoples accepted this as normal. One day she would return to her home planet and leave this Federation to its own devices, until then she would obey their strange customs.
