Investigating a loss

Alicia made her way to Sickbay, Doctor Sthilg had said to come and see him if there were any problems after the bonding. Walking into Sickbay she made her way directly across to the large Gorn offering a polite smile. “Doctor, may I speak with you?”

The gorn gave the lieutenant a warm smile as he placed the watering can down. Sickbay's plants could wait. "Of courssse what'sss the problem?" he asked politely.

She didn’t waste any time. “I have a problem ...” Alicia paused. “I’ve lost my senses. Since Savar and I bonded I’ve not sensed anything.”

The gorn nodded and indicated her to follow him into one of the wards for some privacy. As soon as the door closed he turned to look at her." Hop on the biobed let'sss take a look at you." he said patting one of the beds.

Alicia nodded and hopped up onto the biobed, she wasn’t sure if Sthilg would be able to give her any answer for what was happening but she was clinging to hope that something would show up.

The gorn clicked his tongue back and forwards in his mouth as the data began to come in. " Did you happen to mind-meld with Sssavar last night?" He asked in his professional tone.

Alicia nodded. “After you left us the medication you gave us wore off and we bonded.” She paused. “I’ll admit it was an experience unlike any I’ve ever had, it was ... intense and at one point painful as well.”

" Well, I think know what'sss happened. How long did thisss pain lassst?" the gorn replied as he pulled a more detailed scanner from the draw and began running it over the lieutenant.

“It couldn’t have been more than five minutes, if that! It was when we reached our point of ... Well when we ...” She blushed but smiled. “When we reached our point of total bliss.” She offered an embarrassed smile. “Our souls met and it was a feeling so profound that it hurt.”

" I think I know the problem. Most likely one of your nerve clustersss has been jammed when you mated. Not any of your faultsss. " The gorn said as he flicked open his medical bag and withdrew a rather older medical scanner. The thing looked ancient compared to the new federation tech, but just as maintained with loving care by the old doctor. " just need to run another ssscan. "

Alicia nodded. “So if that’s what has happened does that mean that I’ll get my abilities back at some point?” She looked at Sthilg hopefully.

" Yesss but we'll need to give your sssyssstem a jolt to get it moving again. " He replied as he began to move the old scanner over her.

“A jolt?” Alicia looked at the Gorn Doctor curiously, “What kind of Jolt are you considering?”

" Ssso sssmall you won't even feel it. " the lizard said as he ran it over her. " been a long time sssince I've usssed this."

“May I ask what that is?” Alicia looked at Sthilg curiously.

" A Klingon nerve scanner. Though they won't admit it Klingonsss have a habit of damaging them so they made one of thessse to make it easier to find and get them fixed. " The gorn responded as he then stopped over one spot on the lieutenants back. " There we go. Jussst give me a sssecond. " He said walking off and returning with a small medical probe. " Just need to pop thisss on your back can you please remove your ssshirt? "He said with his professional yet calm manner.

Alicia nodded and removed her top for Sthilg. “So will all this get me my senses back? How long will it take?”

" One sssecond." the gorn said as he placed the probe on her back before flckng a switch on his older device. She wouldn't feel the shock and her senses should start coming back. " Can you feel anything yet?" He asked as he checked the scanner.

Alicia paused her face lighting up hopefully for a moment before frowning again. “I did, just for a moment but then it was gone again.” She gave Sthilg a hopeful look. “Does that mean I just have to give it time?”

" it may take a few hoursss to fully come back, but they will. If not jussst come back. " The lizard replied calmly.

“Thank you Sthilg, I appreciate what you’re doing for me.” Alicia smiled warmly.

" it why I'm here my dear. Always on duty with bandagesss and lollipopsss for when this family hurtsss itself." the gorn replied with a warm smile.

“You certainly do a wonderful job” Alicia smiled. “I’ll keep you updated on when my senses come back.”

" That would be very much appreciated." the gorn replied his smile remaining.

Alicia nodded and smiled before heading on her way.
