Mission:
Season 3: Episode 4: Cause and Effect
Location: Gary and Lia's Quarters
Timeline: Current
628 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure
Gary was preparing for a trip to Earth. Earth of 1664 to be precise. Lia was already on an away mission to the moon after
detecting something that shouldn't be there. As he prepared for the mission and capturing a rogue Starfleet Officer he had
a few moments to reflect on his life and all it's ups and downs, twists and turns, the absolute and euphoric joy along with
devastating and crippling heartbreak and finally the realization of all he to be thankful for. There was of course Catlin, dear
sweet loving Catlin gone far too soon. He had loved her completely and with a passion like nothing seen before. Then there
were Anje, Gallia, Kara and darling Tayalas the sweetest little blueberry ever. She had stolen his heart the first time she smiled
and said "Sana." He was hooked. He viewed each of them as not friends but family. Phoenix was there as well, not only as Captain
but as trusted friend along with Arri and the doc. In fact he viewed the entire Elysium crew as an extended family.
However one rose above the rest and that was Lia Holmes. He never thought he could love another woman as much as he had
Catlin but he did with Lia. She had rid him of his demons. She was indeed his better half. She tempered him. Yet as much as he
loved Lia he often found he didn't have the words to tell her just HOW much he loved her. Of course she knew he loved her but
he desperately wished he was a writer so he could fully express his feelings for her. Alas he wasn't so he settled for the next best
thing and that was telling her in a song. A song could and would convey his feelings for her.
As he sat there a song came to him. "Computer play Your Song by Elton John and save for Lia. Play when she enters." Soon the
uplifting and oh so truthful lyrics filled the quarters and Gary nodded in total agreement. It summed up perfectly how he felt about
Lia. She was indeed his world.
It's a little bit funny, this feelin' inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money, but boy, if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelin' show
Oh, I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well, a few of the verses, well, they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgettin', but these things I do
You see, I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

Once again, this writer does what he does best. A well constructed post, and just a hint of romance. Well Done Jeff, keep up the good work.
