Alicia stirred from her sleep, that’s if it could be called sleep. Her mind and senses were alert for any dangers especially the approach of the hunting dogs, even though she knew there were those on guard watching for trouble. Baby Connor was sleeping peacefully between herself and Savar for protection she smiled as she lay looking at him, she now had a complete family.

Savar's eyes were open in an instant as Alicia stirred. "Alicia. Is everything alright? Are you and the baby as well as Connor alright? Nothing wrong?" he asked as he had rolled unto his side, ready to help anyway he was needed.

“We’re fine Imzadi” Alicia smiled as she looked at Savar. “I’m just not sleeping very well that’s all, too many worries going through my mind.” She looked at Connor “I can’t believe that we’ve got a complete family all at once! Connor and our baby too, it’s just ... amazing!” Her smile faded just a little. “It worries me though, what if we don’t get out of here anytime soon? This is no place for a baby.”

"Do not worry Alicia. It is not good for you or the baby. We will get out. If we have to wait a bit before we can leave we will do it as a family. We are in this together." Savar replied. "There will be no breaking up of our family unit."

Alicia nodded. “This is all so surreal, all of us stuck here in this room together.” She looked around the others in the room who were sleeping on the bare floor as best as they could. “I hope we can get more supplies for Connor tomorrow. I have to say I enjoyed the meat from the dogs, it was very much needed.”

"I am glad you found the meat nourishing Alicia. You need to keep your strength up." Savar noted.

“To be honest I am starting to feel a little off, mostly in the mornings so I’m guessing it’s morning sickness. “I’ve just felt a little unsettled, not actually sick ... yet!” She knew sickness could lead to dehydration and in their current situation it could be dangerous or even fatal.

"Is there anything i can do to help lessen your discomfort Alicia?" He asked.

“Not unless you have any miracle cures for one of nature’s most hated things!” Alicia shook her head. “Don’t worry Imzadi I’ll be okay. I’m more worried about you and this little one.” She gently held onto Connor’s tiny hand.

"I am fine Alicia. I appreciate your concern however concentrate your efforts and attention on yourself as well as the child you carry and the one you hold." Savar pointed out.

“I will, that I promise you” She gently reached across and took Savar’s hand. “As long as I have you I have the strength I need to do anything. I won’t lose my faith, we will get home!”

"Together we can and will accomplish anything. We draw strength from each other and it is that strength and unity that makes us able to overcome and hardship." Savar answered as he held Alicia's hand.

Alicia nodded. “Let’s hope the slave revolt goes as planned.”

"Indeed. Let us hope." Savar echoed Alicia's sentiments.

Alicia offered a smile. “I guess I’d best get back to sleep or at least try.” She looked at Connor. “Once this little one wakes up my chances will be limited.”

"Sleep while you can Alicia. No harm shall come to you." Savar promised.

Alicia nodded and lay down facing both Connor and her husband, now her mind was at rest she was soon fast asleep.

Savar glanced down at Connor sleeping contently next to Alicia. "I promise you little one. I will love you and protect you and treat you as if you are my very own. So rest easy. You are safe.”
