First Date

Pacifica was, to Sapphire a very nice place to visit, and a great place to swim as well. She however was not looking to swim as the evening of their first night planet side drew close. She dressed in a dark red sundress and low heals and headed to one of the restaurants where she had arranged to meet with Scott.

Scott was a jumble of nerves. He didn't want to blow this with Sapphire. he was meeting her dinner. It was their first date and he wanted to make an outstanding first impression with her. She was so worldly, so sophisticated. He was dressed in dark slacks, dark shoes an open neck light blue shirt as he headed for the restaurant he and Sapphire had agreed to meet at.

Sapphire came around the corner and smiled "Hi" she said brightly as she walked up to him.

He smiled back at her, "Hi!" He exclaimed happily, "You look gorgeous!"

"You look very handsome yourself." She replied as she stopped beside him.

"Thanks Sapphire." Scott replied, extending his hand for her to take as they readied to enter the restaurant.

A few hours later they left the restaurant, hand in hand stepping out into cool sea air. Sapphire was leaning against Scott as they walked. "Hmm lovely evening."

"Lovely company. An outstanding meal as well." Scott added as they walked along the beach. "I hope you had a good time Sapphire."

She nodded. "I did. You know, you could call me Jade. Its easier to say and its my middle name." she suggested.

" Me too." He looked over to her "Jade? I like that as well. Your parents had a knack for names. I think I'll do that and thank you for that." He replied with a smile.

"Its what my close family calls me." Sapphire replied as she kicked off her sandals. "This was a great idea of the brass to send us here"

"Then I'm honored." Scott replied humbly. "And it sure was." As they walked closer to the surf. He stopped and removed his own shoes and socks. "There that's better. Now we can get our feet wet."

Jade smiled. "Sounds lovely." She tugged him towards the shoreline.

He followed her willingly. "I do like the way you think Jade. I truly do."

As their feet hit wet sand Jade sighed. "After that last mission... I am more than willing to spend hours with my feet in the water." the waves lapped at their feet.

"You and me both. I was nervous just looking in the mirror. I kept thinking an arm was going to reach out and pull me in."

"You were lucky" Jade said with a smile. She took his hand and drew him further into the shallows. "We were lucky. We never met our mirrors in the way some did."

"I don't want to meet them." He admitted. "I saw Commander Taylor's mirror. He was evil." He followed her out a little farther into the shallows. the water up around their knees. It was warm and soothing.

"Your pants are going to get wet" Jade said as she stepped up to him so they were face to face.

"It's okay. They will dry besides it's worth it to be here with you Jade." He said honestly.

Jade linked their hands and let the breeze stir her hair as she studied his face. "Are you wanting this to turn into something more?"

He looked deep into her eyes. "I'm very much hoping that it will Jade." He said honestly.

"I am also hoping the same." She admitted.

He breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh! That is wonderful!" He exclaimed happily.

Jade laughed "Really?"

"Yes." He blushed even in the moonlight you could see it. "I was so worried you were going to say. Thanks for a lovely dinner but that's it."

"Hmm no.." She smiled. "I am rather happy with this."

Scott smiled broadly. "Me too. Very happy in fact."

"so.. now what?" she asked as they stood there in the warm waters

"Well...'' Scott replied. "May I kiss you?" He asked quietly.

"yes" she said with a smile.

He brought her close. His arms going around her lithe waist as he kissed her softly, gently and not like some randy high schooler. he held the kiss for a few seconds before breaking it. as he leaned back to see her reaction.

Jade smiled and slid her arms up around his neck. "I enjoyed that."

"Me too. Very much." Scott admitted, "Want to press our luck and try again?" His eyes twinkling with merriment.

Jade's response was to press her lips to his again.

His eyes closed as their lips met. Jade's soft full ones against his and the results were just as pleasing as the first time. "Wow." He said as the kiss broke. "Just as good."

Jade laughed again, and shifted so they stood side by side. "Lets walk a bit more." she suggested.

"An excellent suggestion." Scott replied as they walked along the beach, the water gently lapping at their legs. he was enjoying immensely Jade's conversation and companionship.

And when they walked back to the resort, they ended the night with another of those wonderful kisses that had them both smiling and promising to see each other the next day if they could. What had started on the Elysium months before was finally gaining traction and ground for them both. Sure it was slow, but some people thrived on that, and it made them cherish the outcomes more.
