As Pacifica had its climate maintained by computer, it was always sunny and warm in the day hours. Which meant that it was perfect weather for a day at a beach. Jade had located a secluded cove on one of the many islands that dotted the planet and suggested she and Scott visit it for a day of swimming, snorkeling and relaxation.
Scott had readily agreed and rented a small skiff for them to make the trip to the cove Sapphire had found. She had a whole day planned for them with swimming. snorkeling and just good old fashion relaxation. He was loading their picnic supplies onto the skiff along with some other items they need. He smiled as she approached, "Almost ready Sap... er I mean Jade."
She glanced at him. "Which ever name makes you comfortable" She said. Jade helped stow the last of the gear and climbed into the skiff.
" That's just it. I like both your names." Scott replied, "Um, I'll go with Jade, since you said that's what your family calls you and I like to think I'm close as family." He smiled as he climbed into the skiff. "Ready?"
"Yes, Drive on!" Jade laughed as she stood beside him.
"Your wish is my command!" Scott answered as he p0wered the skiff up and they took off for the cove Jade had found. "You'll need to give me directions. i don't want to miss the cove." He told her.
Jade nodded and checked her holo map. "Ok, head east for another 5 minutes" She said once they cleared the small harbour.
"Aye, aye, Captain Jade ma'am." Scott answered with a grin. "Head east for five minutes. Sounds simple enough." He looked over at her, "I can't wait to see what you found for us."
"Its a lovely cove and isolated." Jade grinned and took another reading. "Then turn north, head for those distant islands" She pointed.
Scott's eyes followed Jade's pointing finger at islands that while still distant were growing in size. "How did you ever find this cove? Scott asked. "It is really isolated."
"I was uh.." she smiled at him. "Looking at maps yesterday. Asked about it and no one really comes here as it is too far from civilization."
Scott smiled at her explanation. "Sometimes being isolated is not only good but very, very good." As he turned the skiff north, heading for the islands.
"Very true" Jade replied. "And after the last mission, let me tell you, I am looking forward to some isolation."
"You said it." Scott answered as the islands began to grow in size as they got closer. He throttled back on the power as to not miss the cove Jade had found for them. "No electricity, not a single luxury. It will be perfect."
"Just through that headland" she guided them in. "Indeed, I brought a sun shelter for us to set up by the trees."
Scott nodded and slowed the skiff even more as he moved the skiff forward. "Good thinking about the shelter. Too long out here in the direct sun and we'd look like human lobsters."
Jade nodded. She watched the water and the bottom rising as they came closer to shore. "About there" she pointed as she prepped the anchor for deployment. Once they reached the proper depth she dropped the anchor and heard Scott cut the engines.
Jumping of the skiff into ankle deep water, Jade pulled the secondary anchor up the shore and secured it well from the tide line.
Scott jumped out as the skiff gently ran aground just enough for the bow to be aground. he moved to the back of the skiff and began unloading what Jade had brought as sun shelter as well as a cooler of drinks and some snacks.
Jade came back to help him with a smile. "Hear that?" she said as they moved up to the beach. There was nothing but the sound of waves and wind through the trees and birds.
"Waves and birds? Sure is peaceful." Scott replied.
Grinning she spun in a circle, "Waves, Wind, Birds, no bad guys, no HOUNDS, no blood. Just the perfect beach, the perfect day." Still smiling Jade began to set up the sun shelter and two sun lounger chairs.
Scott looked down the pure white sand of the beach and then out over the crystal blue waters. "You couldn't be more right Jade. This is perfect. Just perfect."
Once their 'base camp' was set up, Jade was quite happy to strip off the white shorts and dark red tank top she had worn over her rather sedate dark green two piece and head for the water "Coming?" she called back to Scott.
"Are you kidding? Don't have to ask me twice." Scott answered as he pulled off his own Khaki shorts and white tee shirt. "Lets do this!" He shouted as he ran over to Jade and grabbed her hand.
Laughing she allowed him to pull her into the water and as it washed over their lower legs she reached down and splashed him with water and an impish smile.
"Oh? So going to be like that?" He laughed as he bent down and splashed her back. His smile as impish as hers.
She used both hands this time and splashed him laughing as the water drenched him. "Slow coach" she teased and took off through the surf.
He stood there dripping as a smile made it's way to his face. "Oh! Now you've done it. This means war!" He teased as he chased after her.
Jade's laughter was echoing back to him as she fled through the water and glancing back at him, she deliberately slowed down.
He caught up to her, grabbing her around her waist. " It you weren't so pretty I'd dunk you." Scott replied. Then thinking about it for a few seconds, said "Oh, what the hell." And pushed her into the water.
She squealed and came up spitting water, pushing her hair from her eyes she grinned at him evilly. "oh now you have to pay" she said as she pushed herself to her feet. She leapt for him with a laugh.
"Pfffttttt!" He managed to get out before Jade leapt at him. He caught her in his arms but her momentum pushed him back and they fell into and under the warm water, with him holding her. They surfaced a few seconds later, Scott still holding her a huge smile on his face as he kissed her softly.
Jade smiled as the kiss ended. "So, I think that is payment enough" she laughed
Scott chuckled at her comment, "Just one kiss?" He questioned as his arm was still around her waist and they had resumes walking in the warm waters. Suddenly he bent down his hand reaching for something he had seen in the crystal clear water. Bringing his hand back up, he opened it to show her her. "A pearl! Or this world's equivalent." As he handed it to her. "It's yours now."
Jade smiled and held it in the palm of her hand. "Why not say its ours?" she said holding it between them.
"Well, we can but I want you to hold on to it for safe keeping." Scott replied. Maybe we can find some more make a nice necklace for you."
"Ah well we shall see" Jade smiled. She took his hand. "Come on, lets enjoy the day."
His fingers intertwined with hers. Squeezing her hand softly. "I'm already enjoying the day Jade. just being here with you is wonderful."
She smiled and they stood in the clear water of the cove, letting the waves lap against their legs as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
He closed his eyes as their lips met, his arms around her slim waist as the warm water ebbed and flowed around them. He was aware of just one thing. only one thing mattered and that was Jade and that was good.
