Posted on Wed Oct 28th, 2020 @ 12:06pm by Commander Arrianna Salannis an Vantar & Lieutenant Victor Barclay de Tolly

Mission: Side Mission: The Aftermath of Kronos
Location: System AR-117 Conolius
2562 words - 5.1 OF Standard Post Measure

A sleek and powerful vessel emerged from warp and began to approach an asteroid belt in the system. A mid-aged captain that looked almost like Arrianna, except he was male, sat in a striking naval uniform, very much in tune with the Alindari love of fashion, but also simplistic and elegant. Still, the Alindari had to embellish some parts of it.

*Captain... we need you on the bridge*

Alindari usually did not speak on their own ships, even if Non-Telepaths were onboard, they could still hear the telepathic conversations on the bridge.

Doran entered the bridge. *Report*

"There is some kind of subspace aperture nearby the protostar nebulae, Captain. Possible Transwarp Conduit." Doran thought. *Helm move us into the protostar's nebula, I want to see what comes through.

Five of Fourteen, Tertiary Intermediary of Trimatrix 1957 in Barclay de Tolly old reality was named Captain Soren. He was an El Aurian aboard the USS Vera Cruz. His brother is Runyun who serves with the Department of Temporal Investigations. In this reality for the last seven years, he has been a Borg but now he is totally aware of the other Reality which caused him disconnected from this cube. His experience was subspace communications. "Alindari ship. This is Captain Soren. For the last seven years I have been a Borg. I am sending you the coordinates now. I will recommunicate in exactly thirty-five minutes."

Doran turned to his science officer. *Fascinating... Hold fire and keep us in the nebula. I want to see where this goes. If we can be as irrelevant as possible, we might be able to find out who this Captain Soren is.*

The Tirielle kept a course parallel with the cube in the nebula, obscured by sensors so that the Collective's attention was not aroused.

Soren walked like a Borg as he blended in with Borgs as he started looking for two other Al Aurians. He went two Decks down in an elavator. He saw one of them at a console as the other stood upright in a regeneration chamber. On the screen was the cube next mission which was the planet of Episolon Gamma IV. The Gammans were a Warp Society that have not have had a war in 300 years. They were so far off the beaten path, no one ever bothers them.

Salom seeing him they made eye contact which made them both nervous. Once they both realize they were both disconnected, they motion each other at the screen. Using hand signals, they gathered information. Ten minutes later, Salom brought his sister Kayala out of regeneration. Soren saw the time was coming up as he saw the ones on duty went into regeneration, the ones who were sleeping would wake up in ten minutes. Now Soren waited for the response.

*Captain. We're picking up lifesigns on that ship.*

Doran spoke. *They've been liberated. I sense Aea's on that vessel. Tactical, beam them out of there. Beam a few of our phased plasma torpedoes onto the ship as a going away present.*

*That will get their attention, Captain.*

*I am aware of that fact.*

The Transporter Room activated and the former drones were beamed aboard. A coms message came. "Captain Soren, Report to the bridge." The announcement came.

Soren cocked his head a bit. It was great to be off that nightmare prison. "On my way," Soren says as walked to the bridge.

Captain Doran nodded to the tactical officer. "Detonate the torpedoes." Several torpedoes took out several of the cube's major systems, including transwarp. The Cube turned to chase the Tirielle through the nebula. Captain Doran moved close to the helm. "Get us close to the protostar and open the power transfer relays, That will be our energy for the PEC."

"Radiation Levels are increasing, Captain." The science officer noted.

Soren walks on to the bridge. "Captain I am Captain Soren. Thank you for rescuing us. I sense the timeline was altered then corrected."

The Tirielle shook with weapons impacts. "Shields to nintey-six percent. Ninety two and holding."

"Impressive." Kayala stated. Still trying to learn how to think like an individual again.

"PEC at Seventy percent Captain. Eighty."

"Pull us up from the star, ensign and perform a one-eighty flip. Remodulate all weapons and bring us straight towards them." Captain Salannis noted.

The signal came in. We are the Borg, Life as you know it has en...

"Arrogant, fools." Doran noted. "They should have run. Open fire."

The nose section of the Tirielle opened and a massive amount of plasma energy was concentrated into one torpedo. It fired and lanced towards the cube. Impacting with a combined force of a Class 4 Solar Flare. The Plasma went into spontaneous fusion immediately forming a miniature sun within the cube, Not only was the plasma enveloping the cube, it was fusing the cube's matter into heavier and heavier elements. Suddenly, it all compacted and formed a tiny black hole that began to rip the cube to pieces until it shed enough hawking radiation to dissipate.

All three Al Aurians were awe of the technology they saw before them.

Captain Doran approached. "We have never ever known Borg Drones that could regain their individuality once linked to the Collective. But I sense Aeas from you."

"It must have to do with the shift in the timeline," Soren surmised. "If I contact my brother Commander Runyun of The Department of Temporal Investigations, he might know the reason why."

"So it's a temporal matter." Doran noted. "High Command is not gonna like this.

"Anyway we can get out of this cyborg armory," Soren asks.

Salom spoke as he walked on to the bridge. "That cube had mission to attack the planet Episolon Gamma IV alone. I worked. At the command center. I have seen a lot missions other cubes were planning. Is this ship equip to go after more cubes?"

Kayala was still getting used to having emotions again. "The cubes were to be deployed through the transwarp aperture in this system. Recommend strategic objective, destroy the aperture. This will halt the invasion." Kayala noted. "You would be wise not to underestimate the Borg, nor allow them to assimilate this vessel."

Doran walked over and placed his hand on Kayala's forehead. "Her Aea reforming slowly. Remember Kayala."

Kayala moments later, she was on the road of recovery. "Shut down the conduit.time is of the essence."

"I agree with Kayala. If we shut down the transwarp hub, we prevent this offensive. You see this vessel? She's a prototype. We have to be smart about using this ship."

"Captain," Soren says, "I am sure you have protocol when you rescue drones. I feel we are disconnected but until all safety measures are admistered, the three of us has to be in a secured force field until medical and the Engineers whoever else are on yiur deassimilate team."

Doran agreed, "Security, take them to the deassimilation lab immediately."

Salom asks, "I wonder if there are anymore El Aurian drones who have regain consciousness."

"In the other universe," Kayala says, "The Borg were destroyed for good. If there was one of us who they realize that came from that universe Know how the Borg was destroyed, we are screwed."

"Kayala," Soren says smiling, "That was priveledge information. Only Picard, Ezri Dax and a few commanding officers knew how it was done and they do not have Temporal Immunity like us."

"There was a young Ensign but he was human as well," Salom assured everyone. "Nothing to worry about."

"So which way to our containment cells?" Captain Soren asks.

The three were escorted into a specialized medical bay with several biobeds, and all three were restrained with forcefieds as a group of doctors began studying the Sensor Scans of all three if them. A young Alindari doctor, also having either the hazel or sea blue mermaid eyes approached Soran. "Good news, we can remove nintey percent of the implants."

Kayala suddenly struggled. "Negotiating with host!" She suddenly spoke. I am.... Kayala... my name is.... designation...." the doctor spoke. "We do her first, she's trying to reassimilate!!" The medical staff immediately focused on Kayala while security covered the other two.condi

Doran looked at the transwarp aperture. "Take us in, all we have to do is destroy one of the support structures and the entire transwarp conduit network will collapse."

The Tirielle entered the transwarp conduit. Moving through the network, searching for their target.

Kayala began fighting. "Resistance is...." she struggled to maintain who she was as the doctors finished removing her optical implant."

"Is she Okay?" Salom asked.

"Prepare for Neuroprocessor extraction." The Doctors worked on Kayala performing emergency surgery. Drugs were administered to keep her from moving. One by one. Implants were removed and placed into containers that locked and were placed on a cart.

"Captain," Soren asked, "I believe I can speak for all three us. If any us are reassimiliated, shut us down by cryogenics or by death. The lost individuality living in a socialistic society as the hive is no life at all. Those Borg you killed today, you set them free."

"My designation is Nine of... Kayala... Resistance." The Doctors continued to work frantically.

"Kayala my love," Salom says looking at her. "You will be okay. That wedding I promised you, we will have. That remote planet in the Badlands, we can retire there and ....". Salom says as stops for a moment. "Do me next. I can not relax my mind. I ... must .... fight ....it."

Kayala suddenly stopped when a spidery implant was removed from her neck. "Salom!! Salom!! Fight it." Kayala's voice filled with emotion spoke." A Nurse nodded. "You're okay. You're okay."

The nurse attending to Salom spoke. "Regression!!"

The Doctors moved to Salom and began to work on him again.

*Bridge* The Tirielle moved through the transwarp conduit until it neared one of the support structures within the conduit. the ship's torpedo pod opened fire and took out the support structure and the transwarp conduit began to collapse.

*Deassimilation lab.*

The Medical Staff began to frantically work on Salom. He could feel the precision instruments removing the nano-circutry. By this time, Kayala was let up and she went to Salom's side.

"Salom, Look at me. I'm here."

Salom hearing her as he was still sedated a bit felt her as his anchor in reality. "I ... hear ...you."

Soren knew he would be next. He showed no signs of reassimilation. "Kayala, just keep talking to him. Where do you two want to get married?"

"Doesn't matter where or when," Salom says, "Just as long as we do."

"I will work with our brother Runyun when this is done," Soren says as it occurred to him. "Our whole ship and crew are dead except for the three of us. I am going to have to write letters to families to give them closure. I think the one I will miss the most is Counselor Borala."

"I will miss playing tricks on her," Salom felt she needed to cry but could not.

"Looking forward to seeing our brother," Soren thought for a moment. "I believe the nystery of how the time line changed is found on the Borodino. He was always checking in that ship."

"Brother," Salom says, "That is confidental information. Our rescuers here do not need to know."

"I beg to differ," Soren says looking at them. "They are fighting here on the front lines. If those two men he has in cryogenics have to Temporal Disturbance, they should know."

More implants were removed from Salom as Kayala looked at him in the eyes. The ship jolted as it left the Transwarp Conduit.

"Years ago, three men came from the future," Soren answers. "One wanted to change the timeline. Somehow he did and in the reality we just came from was created. Our brother sends the same man again and that time he was successful. He contacted my brother and our brother put two men in cryogenics. That is all I know."

Another of the interplexing beacons were removed from Salom, silencing the voices for good in Salom's mind, They then moved to Soren and began the same procedure. First the Occular Implant, then the Neuroprocessor, and finally the Interplexing Beacon. All removed elegantly.

*Later*

All three were laying on the biobeds with several medical apparatuses on their limbs and arms. They were also coverd with similar surgical equipment designed to regenerate their vital organs. The young female doctor walked up to the Three.

"Soran, Kayala, Salom. My name is Doctor Aletheia Nial an Koran. You're going to be like this for a few days. But we're making you as comfortable as possible." She noted. "You are exceptionally fortunate; We've removed nintey five percent of your implants. Save several in your Cerebellums. We've confirmed they are now inactive and should be benign." She mentioned.

"Thank you Doctor Koran," Soren says as he felt better but still a long way to go.

Aletheia smiled and took some notes. "We will need to know some cosmetic information from you three. When the Borg assimilate people, they remove the hair cells and turn the skin a pale light-gray. It's a side effect of nearly millions of nanostructures in your tissue. So lets begin, What are your skin color, Eye Color, Hair Color as well? Or if you want something different. Kayala I think you'd make a striking brunette." Aletheia smiled giving slight humor..

"I would like brunette," Kayala says as she looks at her brother. "My brother is bald but hopefully his beard will grow back."

"Hope so," Soren shrugs.

Salom answers next, "Brunette as well. I was never bald."

"At the top of your forehead you were," Kayala says giggling.

"Was I?" He said laughing. "I never looked up there."

"You were," Soren says laughed a bit. "I am not laughing at you but with you."

"Hmmmmph," Salom says laughing a bit as well.

Captain Salannis entered the Medical Suite. "We're on course back to New Alindar. Do not worry. In three days, you will not look like you were ever assimilated. You are El-Aurians?" He smiled. "Splendid. It has raised the crew's spirits we were able to save some of you from a lifetime of hollow servitude. There is no fate more cruel than being a living machine."

"Thank you Captain," Soren says as felt happy. "We may not look it, we are more than a century old. Kayala and my parents as well as Salom's parents were rescued over a century ago by the Enterprise under the command of Captain Harriman. We were born shortly after that."

Doran spoke. "The Empress and the Senate have taken an immediate interest in all three of you. It's my duty to deliver a request from, when you are recovered, to join both at the Chambers of the Senate." The Captain noted. "The Senate is interested in the remote possibility of saving more of the El-Aurians, and there's also the matter of a possible temporal event. We need to know how far this reaches, so we can ask Starfleet to assist us possibly revitalizing the El-Aurian race." If there was one thing about the Alindari, their women were like mermaids, their men were like Apollo, and their compassion was an true inspiration, but also their weakness."

"We are at your disposal," Soren replies.
