Lady Althir looked at the PADD Again. "Are you sure about this, Commander Runyun? We managed to shut down all of the DNA Trade? You know what would happen if word ever got out about this. For right now; Ilya is an Alindari, and Cassius is a Betazoid. My people can see past the circumstances of this genetic enhancement, but those who do not share their thoughts like we do will find them dangerous..."
Alena paced in her study again. Her elegant black dress dragging behind her. "Suffice to say. I wish there was a smaller body count."
"We shut them down because of Cassius and Ilya," Runyun saids proudly. "We have a few pseudo ones out there pretending to be a Klingon or a Vulcan. Cassius briefed me on what happened. What is done is done. It might be to our advantage having them genetically enhanced."
We are now facing threats, in our own Imperium and Federation, that makes even the Borg look tame. The Alindari do not keep secrets from each other, but we are forced into keeping secrets from outsiders for their own protection. We look forward to the day we can teach all in the galaxy that we are more than individuals. We are family. We are kin. We are the Federation." Alena noted. "'The Imperium stands for all, and all of us stand for the Imperium.' My ancestor's words have never been truer even today."
"Agreed," Commander Runyun says, "There is a lot the Federation know about the El Aurians as well."
Alena nodded. "There's millions of them enslaved in the Borg Collective Commander." The Empress noted. "The Acamedician of Scholars have said the college has studied those shuttlecraft, and they've come up with a complicated theory that use of those shuttles causes the time line to diverge and merge at random. If an event must happen, it is becuase destiny demands it. The Scholars don't speculate on destiny. That's the realm of the College of Philosophy. And they cannot agree on the details."
"What is the full story of these shuttles? Who was mad enough to use them?" Alena mentioned.
"Someone who lost their father," Runyun answers. "Humans do not know how to handle grief."
"Strange, Commander." The Empress noted. "We find humans to be so remarkable. Indeed, they remind us of ourselves two thousand years ago when the great enlightenment began. Commander, your Federation did what many could not, even the old imperium could not resist assimilation... twice... Our academic establishment has studied this, every one of your tactics and stratagems against the Borg, and they are confounded. "
"Empress," Runyun says reminding her of recent events, "The other Reality which was erased, all the Borg became free. We do know one thing is that Captain Erika Hernandez, the sole survivor of the USS Columbia is with the Caeliar as she others have not made aware of the origin of the Borg. We will have to be prepared if we ever go where they are with a full force of the Federation. Fortunate for us, we do have one person that was at that battle which is Lt. Victor Barclay de Tolly."
Alena thought a moment. "Come with me Commander. It's time I showed you the Alindari Imperium's central research facility for Borg Technology." She lead the Commander to the palace's shuttlebay and boarded a shuttlepod.
"Lead on," Runyun says smiling.
Alena piloted the shuttle away from Sena Alindar and towards a gas giant, the sixth planet of the system. She set a course towards one of the major hurricane storms and began to enter it's eye. Immediately, she recieved a signal. "Authorization Required."
Alena started singing. "Do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffing man. Do you know the muffin man, who lives on Drury Lane."
"Access Granted, Proceed."
Runyun chuckled a bit. "Nice song. You like to sing. I feel anyone should do what makes them happy and if you can make another one happy, you should do it. My late wife and I would dance and dance until the sun came up at home. It is tempted to go back in time for one more waltz but alas, I have taken an oath. My job is to deal with people breaking the rule of time travel because I have to deal with it."
Alena smiled at the Commander. "You should hear my Aria. Aside from that, its a voiceprint code you have to sing. Music is emotion, and the code requires emotion in my voice. That is something the Borg cannot understand, as it is irrelevant to them.
"Emotions is the core of the El Aurians," Runyun smiles back. "We feel very passionate about what we love. The intensity of our convictions sometimes get the better of us but we have to stay focus. No matter what happens, there will always be a tomorrow."
The shuttle landed in the shuttlebay. Alena lead Runyan onto a highly advanced base. "Attention, Visitors. Please enter decontamination room alpha and dress into the provided jumpsuits. This is a level zero containment facility. "
Runyun looked at jumpsuits which were provided. "Do we get out of these over our clothes or do we replace outer garments?"
Alena responded. "This is a clean facility, no unauthorized biological material. That means your uniform and whatever we're wearing. We can't give this technology anything to assimilate in a worse-case scenario."
Runyun complied as he changed into the provided jumpsuit. The sterile environment he understood had to be maintained. Runyun peered through the vastness of the facility as he was amazed about the aesthetically scientific design of how the Alindar were not only advanced in their secretive technology, they were also made both exteriors as well as interiors pleasing to the eye.
