MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Deck 16 Gymnasium 3
1070 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure
Reo'thanra adjusted his Maulers as he walked towards the sparring Mats, His tail swaying slowly as he focused himself on readying the Heavy plated Gauntlets for the sparring match. He'd taken some time to preemptively blunt the short blades the gauntlets Sported along their spines, Coating them in a Hard Rubber sheath that would Prevent them from Drawing blood. He hummed quietly as he glanced up from his Maulers to see who his Opponent would be today.
Standing there, wearing little more than underwear and a sports top was M'Tuuri, her tail flicking lazily behind her as she adjusted the white padded helmet around her feline skull. "I didn't take you furrr a fighter," She chuckled as she glanced down at Reo, though not tall herself being a Cait, she still dwarfed the Arten.
"Espurrcially one that takes it so seriously..." She hummed, mocking his attire while slowly moving her left leg up into the air, holding it against her chest as she balanced on one leg, the only sign of a counterbalance from her tail, slowly teetering from side to side.
Reo Laughed as he stepped onto the mats his own outfit a lightweight canvas set that fully showed off just how small he was. "All Arten are soldiers first," he said softly as he looked over her. "though if you're fighting without a Weapon I suppose I should do the same," he added as he started to unbuckle his Maulers.
"Who sssaid I didn't have any weapons?" She remarked, slowly lowing her foot paw back to the floor.
The Vulpine paused and shifted. "Show, or we do this with tooth and claw," he said firmly.
"Mine are a lot sssharpur than yoursss..." She hissed teasingly, extending her padded fingers and curling her claws.
"And Mine are Metal," he said with a wide fang filled grin. It was no Idle boast either, his species having Evolved with Organometallic bones, teeth, and claws.
She chittered back at the little Arten, her eyes growing wide as she moved around the mat. "My my, purrhaps I should have brought some magnets... glue those little paws of yours together."
"And I should have brought a can of tuna then," He laughed as he dropped the maulers off the mat, his tail wagging slowly behind him as he started to lightly circle opposite of her, his hands raising up to a defensive posture.
"Well, if you win... maybe I'll let you repurrlicate a can for me..." She let her words hang for a moment, as she rolled her shoulders, feigning a disinterested stance before pouncing forward and swiping a leg out and low, spinning around the mat at his legs with surprising speed.
Reo was caught off guard by the low sweep, her leg slamming into his with enough force to send him sprawling to the ground, though he did manage to recover himself by slamming his hands down to catch his fall and spin to face her. He grinned wide barring his fangs, his large ears folding back against his skull. "And if you win?" he asked before locking himself up and charging forward into her, throwing his not Insignificant weight into his shoulder, while winding up to slam her with his own sweeping kick should she evade the charge.
"You can eat it out of my paw inssstead..." She hissed playfully before pouncing forward, using the fast twitch muscles in her legs to propel herself over Reo, cupping both of his long ears in her paws as she continued over, landing on her back and using the momentum to scurry to her footpaws.
Reo snarled loudly and kicked his leg back to try and catch her off guard and balance. "Come now, wouldn't you prefer a Nice Dinner date kitty?" He said as he spun around, choosing to distance himself from her rather than try and push an attack further.
“Tempting offer,” She growled lowly, circling around Reo close to the floor in a crouched stance, her clawed toes digging into the mat as she readied herself. “But I quite like my idea...” Her lips went wide as she grinned, black lips stretching and exposing the rows of sharp teeth in her maw.
Arten grunted and clenched his paws up his eyes darting over her. "No comprise from A cait huh," he said through gritted fangs. "Well... that's fine by me..." he said before feinting to her left.
"Now you're getting it..." M'Tuuri mocked, a subtle hyena-like laugh chattering out of her maw as she moved to intercept the Arten, flicking a clawed paw out in his direction.
Reo'thanra shifted his weight and velocity to swing A heavy paw of his own towards her back trying to throw as much of his Agility and weight into the sudden Strike.
Paws and claws struck out, colliding with the side of their opponents face with equal ferocity, sending them both stumbling back.
overconfidence and ego now dripped down the side of M'Tuuri's face, its ichor staining her fur a dark crimson as it pooled onto her chin, dripping onto the mat with heavy dull thuds.
"That hurt..." She half snarled while flexing her jaw, an audible pop of bone seemingly leaving her unphased as she brought her paw up to her lips, mockingly licking at the blood on her claws that was not her own.
Reo'thanra grunted as landed, the Ring thunking loudly under his weight. "Y...you'd...get on well with the ACDF Cait," he said through a pained grin, a dark stain of blood splashed against his teeth. He Groaned loudly and stood dabbing at the cuts into his cheek. "So...had enough...or should we keep going till security needs to break this up?" he spat.
M'Tuuri was silent at first as she slowly walked over to Reo, her padded footpaws making little to no sound even for his large ears.
Making her intentions as vague as possible just to tease the Arten. "Get cleaned up, I don't want you bleeding over my bedding later..." She purred before walking right past him, her tail flicking against his chest before trailing up and under his chin as she walked away, heading for the exit.
"Wait... where's your quarters?" he called as she left the Ring and the Gymnasium.
She paused at the entrance, glancing over her shoulder. "Deck fifteen, cabin thirty sssix..." She purred, leaving before she had even finished her sentence.
