Alicia was at home alone, having cut down on her work schedule she had time to relax. Having headed for a relaxing shower she emerged from the shower not seeing the spare towel had fallen off the rail. Stepping on it with one foot she caught her foot in the opposite end causing her to stumble and fall heavily on her side on the bathroom floor. Her arm gave off a resounding crack as the weight she was carrying was put onto it.

She lay dazed and in pain before realising her comm badge was on her clothing in the bedroom. She had no choice but to painfully roll around onto her back and use her other arm to push herself up. Grabbing her bathrobe from the nearby chair with her good arm she covered herself over. She did the only thing she could think to do and pulled off the monitor Sthilg had put on her neck knowing it would alert sickbay and someone would call to check on her.

Sthilg's was finishing his paperwork when he saw the feed to Alicia monitor drop. His heart stopped as he grabbed his bag and initiated a transport as he appeared in her quarters living room. " Alicia!!!!" he yelled as he began looking for her.

Alicia sensed Sthilg’s arrival and breathed a sigh of relief. “In the bathroom!!”

The gorn heart raced as he heard her and he hurried into the bathroom.

Alicia smiled in relief as she saw her father appear before her. “I’m sorry ... I didn’t mean to alarm you! I ... had a fall, I think my arm is broken!”

" Little one you ssshould never worry about alarming me. " The old gorn said as his artificial arm turned into its new scanner mode as he ran it over her arm. His eyes showed concern at the results. " It'sss a partial fracrture. Let'sss get you onto your bed ssso i can get it fixed." He said as he gently picked her up.

Alicia bashfully held onto the bathrobe as best as she could to cover herself, not that she was embarrassed about Sthilg seeing her body. He was her father and her doctor after all and would be delivering her daughter eventually. “Is my baby alright!?” She looked at Sthilg “Falls at this stage of pregnancy can be a problem can’t they!?”

The gorn said nothing as he placed her down on the bed before he activated his scanner again. A smile of relief came across his face as he moved his hand over her belly. " Ssshe'sss fine little one," he said with relief in his voice.

Alicia breathed a sigh of relief. “I caught my foot in the towel, I didn’t see it. I tried to break my fall with my arm hence the break.” She winced in pain. “It’s a good job Connor is at the nursery. Best part is I came home to rest.” She smiled a wry smile.

" Well let'sss get you fixed up." he said as he drew a few medical tools including the osseous tissue regenerator. Picking up a hypospray he moved to press it against her neck. " Here'sss a little thing for the pain."

Alicia nodded. “You might want this as well” she put the cortical monitor she’d been wearing for her blood pressure down on the bed. I guess it came in handy after all.”

The gorn gently took it and placed it with the rest of the kit as he injected her with some mild painkillers. " Feeling better?" he said camly.

Alicia nodded as the painkillers took effect. “Better” She nodded and offered a smile. “I’ve been so careful during this pregnancy and now I go and do this. I’ll take extra care from now on and that’s a promise.”

" I'm sssure you will my dear." The old lizard said as he drew the extractor and began running the grey instrument over her arm. Finding a splinter of bone he clicked the button on it's side which transported the splinter out painlessly and without need for opening her up. " I'll jussst collect all thessse up before i regenerate the bone. " he explained.

Alicia nodded. “Will I be able to stay home, or will you need me in Sickbay?”

" I'll be able to fix it here my dear. " He said as he went about his work. " Would you like me to tell you a story to passssss the time."

Alicia nodded. “I’d like that. What’s your story about?”

" Well have I ever told you about my time on the planet of Sssaharia? " he asked as he started his task.

Alicia shook her head as she got more comfortable with the dressing gown around her. “No I don’t think you have.”

" Well, it's a Klingon client world. One of the far better off onesss as the meat and fish they produce is in very high demand for the Klingon homeworlds. Thisss was back in my first daysss with the KDF when the Ssstarfleet uniform was the crimssson jacket. I wasss part of the detachment there that was to train the local defense force. " The lizard explained as he worked.

" Ssso there i am explaining some basssic first aid to a classssss of sssonsss and daughtersss of the nobel elitesss mossst of whom jussst wanted to go back to the brothelsss and tavern hallsss of the world. I noticed one of them a rather young female clearly intrested in anyhting elssse doing eveything ssshe could to avoid paying attention." The old lizard told his tale as he extracted splinters and slithers of broken bone.

Alicia smiled as she listened, barely noticing the work her father was doing on her arm. “So what did you do to get her attention?”

" Well being the young lizard I was I did what any ssself-respecting teacher would do. I filled a bag with air and when ssshe looked away i poped it right next to her head. Ssshe was ssso ssstartled ssshe fell off her chair." the gorn said with a hearty chuckle. " It was only after the classssss that i learned who ssshe wasss."

Alicia couldn’t help but grin. “Let me guess . she was someone pretty important and you made a great impression on her!”

"Ssshe was the high princessssss and heir to the planet." the gorn said letting out a laugh, but his hands were completely still as he kept up his work.

“Seriously!!” Alicia grinned and shook her head. “Did you get into trouble for treating her that way?”

" I though i wasss going to when the royal guard woke me up and essscorted me to the throne room. Thankfully her father found it very amusing and gave her a clip around the earsss before telling her not to ignore her teachersss again." He explained with a grin on his old face.

“Well my father is a teacher who amuses Kings! I think that’s something to be proud of!” Alicia grinned. “The closest we get to that on Betazed is the matriarch of the First house. My grandmother still holds onto the matriarch position in our family, she’s in her 90’s.”

" Doesss ssshe know her grandaughter hasss a lizard father?" he inquired as he finished with the last of the bone splinters. Sealing the splinters he put the tool to one side " There know let'sss fix the bone." he said picking up the regenerator.

“That’s a good question” Alicia paused. “I expect my mother has told her, she’s a very laid back matriarch and very wise. I have no doubt she’d like you.” Alicia watched her father as he ran the regenerator over her arm. “I swear from now on I’m going to wait until Savar is home to go in the shower!”

" That would be a logical sssuggessstion." The old lizard replied as he gave her uninjured hand a reassuring squeeze. " You are looking after two of you after all."

“I’m just glad Connor is at nursery, my greatest nightmare would be to hear him crying and not be able to get to him.” She sighed. “I hate to ask but are you sure the baby will be alright? I did fall pretty hard.”

" Ssshe'sss fine my dear. You just need to get sssome ressst." her reptilian father said with a warm smile.

“I’ll do my best” Alicia smiled. “Rest tends to be at a premium especially once Connor is home. He’s quite a handful sometimes even with Savar to help me.”

" I can take him if you need sssome free time." The gorn said as he withdrew the regenerator. " Okay that should have done it. Try ssslowly to move your arm."

“Could you? Take Connor for a few hours I mean?” Alicia smiled as she slowly moved her arm pleaded not to feel pain anymore. “it’s a little stiff and sore but it’s much better, thank you father.”

" Keep movement with it ssslow and sssteady for a week or two. " the gorn said with a smile. He could still operate like the best of them. " And i'll pick up Connor from nursssery and look after him until Sssavar ssshift endsss."

“Thank you, that would be wonderful.” Alicia gently gave the large Gorn Doctor a hug. “I’ll stay right here in bed and get some rest.”

" That would be for the bessst. I'll get you sssomething to eat and drink for when you wake up." he responded as he hugged his daughter

“Thank you that would be wonderful.” She reached for her nightdress which was lying on the end of the bed, where she’d left it ready to put on. She wasn’t bashful being part Betazoid she was used to nakedness, but she kept the bathrobe in-front of her while she put it on.

The old doctor nodded before leaving and returning with a tray of a mug of herbal tea and some sandwiches. " Here we are. I've left you a ssselection."

“Thank you.” Alicia smiled warmly. “Actually I think I’ll eat first and sleep after. That tray looks too good to wait until later. Would you let Savar know what’s happened and reassure him I’m okay. He may not show it but he worries.”

" I will. Take care of yourssself my dear." He said as he headed for the door before turning his head slightly. " Don't forget your monitor," he said gesturing to her neck.

“Then you’ll have to pass it back to me” Alicia smiled. “Last time I saw it you put it in your bag.” She grinned before noticing it lying on the bedside table. She shook her head, “Sorry! I didn’t see it until now.” Picking it up she carefully placed it back on her neck where it was before. “There, all done.”


After making sure he was picking up the signal the gorn gave her a thumbs up before heading for the door. Pausing her gave her another " Take care."

“I will, I promise!” Alicia smiled. “I’ll see you later when you drop off Connor.”

" I'll sssee you later. " he said as he stepped out of the room. It was only after he was out of the room and a good distance from his daughter's quarters did he stop leaning against the wall as he breathed in and out. By all mother that had been terrified when he had found her like that. " Pleassse all mother protect her with all your power." He mumbled quietly to himself. " I can't bare to lossse her like i lossst Gedesss. "

Staying there for a minute until his breathing had returned to normal he headed for the turbo lift. He had to inform Savar and pick up Connor.
