Among the dim blue lighting of her cramped, Disorganized quarters Lieutenant Nevada McKay Slumped against her console her eyes darting warily over the scan she’d just taken of herself, Fear and curiosity plastered over her face. All her Theories and experiments were crashing down around her as something she’d ruled out as impossible was happening before her very eyes. Her Nano probes were multiplying, And adapting. Not at a dramatic rate, certainly roughly one hundred Nanoprobes created every 72 hours. Her eyes darted over the read out. They were keeping themselves populated just above what she’d Determined almost a year ago to be the optimal safe Saturation for her.

Most worrying of all though, was what they were doing. Since she’d been hit with an agonizer the probes had been Overcompensating, repairing her body at a rate that far outstripped her needs or desires. She breathed quietly and tapped some commands into the console, hoping that the Probes would finally accept the Shut down command. She held her breath and clenched her fists uttering a prayer to the gods she didn’t believe in. The console beeped softly Indicating that the probes had rejected the command.

She exhaled and rubbed her arms nervously. For now, the Malfunctioning probes were doing nothing harmful or worrying, though they had several Notable side effects. All of which were worrying enough to the rouge scientist on their own, but together? “I swear I’d have an ulcer right now…if these fucking probes weren’t preventing something like that,” she muttered softly as she slowly pushed herself back from her desk. On the one hand, she hadn’t felt this young in decades, on the other hand, the probes were pulling things off that could very well lead to her discovery by any medical staff who managed to pin her down long enough to get a full scan.

Nevada let out a Shuddered of fear and resignation. Discovery now, so far into her project would Undoubtedly lead her to a Prison cell. If not worse. How ever Terminating her project now would leaded to Irreversible Genetic Degeneration that would likely kill her with in a year. She shifted Nervously in her chair and glanced into her hands. A bid for immortality Could very well lead her to a life Sentence in the deepest darkest Penal colony The Federation had, if she was lucky. It could very well lead her to being No more then a Lone borg Drone Should her luck turn For the worst.

“Alyx..” she said softly speaking to the Privatized LCARS Server she’d set up in her Quarters. “Run…simulation, parameters Run away Nanobot Creation in…Patient,” she said her breathing shaky with Clear anxiety. “Use currently running operating system for the Simulation,” she added after a moment as the system beeped in confirmation.

“Estimated time to completion is ten hours,” the Robotic male voice of Alyx responded after a moment.

“Hold all alerts,” Nevada muttered as she turned her gaze towards her bed. Sleep, she decided. She Desperately need sleep before her next shift.
