Transfer out

Gallia, fresh from Taylor's office, now had to break the news to Baeryn Whavi that she was being sent to another department, but, she had Tayalas with her, that would soften the blow. She let the tot in before her and she immediately went to Baeryn's office, "Hi, Baeryn."


Baeryn smiled recognizing the small voice that greeted her, happy for the distraction. She swiveled in her chair setting down the PADD she had been studying to greet the little one. "Well hello Tay! I've been thinking about you."
She looked up for a split second to nod a greeting of hello to Gallia before pulling her attention back to Tay.

"Hi!" She smiled broadly, she had hoped if Mommy Kara didn't come back she would be mommy's new girlfriend, but that was not an issue now because Mommy Kara was back. She wrapped her arms around Baeryn's neck and kissed her cheek, "How you?"

Laughing she wrapped her own arms around Tay and squeezed her lightly, lifting her off the ground for just a few seconds before setting her back down. The joy that came while being around Tayalas quieted her mind. She genuinely enjoyed her presence. The child was like a tangible star in the vast darkness of space. "I'm much better now! To what do I owe the visit? Are you off on another adventure with mommy?"

"Uh huh." Tayalas nodded, "Mommy needs to talk wit oo and I wanned to see you."

Stilling smiling Baeryn stood, she picked up Tay and set her down in her chair before turning to Gallia. "Hello Lieutenant, what can I do for you?" Whavi had a feeling she knew what Norris was here to discuss and was actually impressed she had come. Baeryn hadn't expected Norris to address her in person on the subject of the transfer, that is hoping the Norris had accepted the new position.

"Aye, like Tay said, I needed ta talk te ye." Gallia said quickly, she wanted to rip the band aid off as quick as she could and not hurt Whavi, "I've been offered the strategic ops post here on Elysium and I've accepted it. I'm gonna have to transfer out of the division.''

Baeryn gasped before her expression exhibited her excitement. "Gallia that's amazing! Congratulation's!" Her voice rose in pitch and she crossed the room to wrap Norris in a hug. She quickly released her realizing how unprofessional her actions had been. "I hope this doesn't mean I wont be seeing you or Tay anymore."

"We no see Baeryn no mowe, mommy?" Tay said, near tears.

"Nay, darlin', we're still gonna see her." Gallia said confidently, "I promise."

Baeryn smiled and winked at Tay reassuringly. "I've still got to show you how to make a flower crown Tay!" She turned back to Gallia. "So your transfer will be immediate I assume?" Her eyes held a soft sadness that didn't reach her lips. It was hard to see Norris leave Ops but couldn't be more proud of the promotion for her. Perhaps they could spend more time together now that they wouldn't be working so closely. Baeryn didn't have all the details but she thought she heard something about a lover returning, she had refrained from asking hoping Gallia would bring it up at some point.

"Aye, that we are." Gallia smiled, "And we're gonna be lookin' to be spending some time together, got lots of things to plan for mah new post."

"Well I hope you know I'm here to help in anyway that I can! Don't hesitate to use me as a resource. This will be a new position for you correct? So you'll have much to learn." Whavi enjoyed seeing a smile on Gallias face. "I'm very excited for you Gallia."

"I'm excited too, Baeryn." Gallia answered,"And excited about Kara comin' back, i's been a good day."

"Kara? I would love to meet her one day, perhaps we could all enjoy a meal or an adventure to the arboretum soon?" Baeryn turned back to wink at the little tot still seated in her chair.

"Yeah! We go to park, they got duckies there!" Tayala announced, "We go now, Baeryn? The's a bwue duckie. It's wike me!"

"A blue duck! I've never seen one before!" She smiled to Tay before bringing her focus back to Gallia. "I could use a bit of a break right now, so park?"

"We go mommy?" Tayalas asked, her voice especially cute, melting Gallia on the spot.

"Aright, I dinnae see what'll it hurt." Gallia responded, offering Whavi to come along, "Well, let's get a move on then?"

Baeryn extended her hand for Tays, smiling down at the young one. She was glad to be taking a break from work, her mind needed the carefree joy Tay filled her with. "I dont believe I've visited the park actually, so this will be my first time."

"Well, this willnae be ma first visit, or even ma thirty first." Gallia laughed as Tayalas took Whavi's hand, "She loves that duck."

"Uh huh, Auntie Stelle taught me too wuv duckies." Tayalas answered, she loved ducks.

"Just duckies? What other animals do you love? Back home on Earth my Daddy used to take me camping every chance he got, we would see all sorts of wild animals. We would see deer, beavers, and lots of bunnies!" Baeryn smiled down at Tay as they continued there way to the park.

"Bunnies!" Tayalas said happily, "I wuv bunnies! And cows! Do you wike cows?"

"I love them! Have you ever been horse back riding?!" Baeryn asked. Already plotting a farm day in a holodeck with Tay if Gallia allowed.

"Uh huh, uh huh. Went wif Auntie Mary." Tay answered, "It was gweat."

"I would like to go sometime, would you accompany me? If ma yes okay?" She smiled down at the child. There were mere seconds from the park and was growing more excited as the anticipation rose.

"Uh huh, uh huh!" Tayalas nodded excitedly, "I go wif oo. Mommyy is it okay?"

"Of carse it is, Tay." Gallia agreed, that child was too cute to refuse anything, which is why she now had pink hair and was even cuter.

When they stepped into the park area Baeryn gasped at its beauty, so surprised that they were aboard a starship and not planet side. The sounds of birds and laughing children was as close to Heaven as she could ever imagine. She pointed to the lake a few meters away and asked Tay, "Do you think they're over there?!"

"Uh huh." Tayalas answered, looking at the pond ahead, "Tha's their home."

Baeryn grabbed a paper bag from a animal fed station located close to the ducks home. Leading Tay closer to the animals she kneeled down and offered her the bag. "Wanna feed them?"

"Uh huh, uh huh." She said, taking the bag from Baeryn and watching for the blue duck as she did.

Baeryn watched Tay as she searched and searched for the blue duck. Baeryn couldn’t deny she wasn’t looking forward to it as well. As she stood there in this simple moment she realized that her heart longed for something she would never have. When she caught Tay looking back up at her she fixed her face with a smile, banishing the sorrow that over came her in that moment of weakness. She crouched down to the Andorians child’s height when the blue duck came into view. The expression in the child’s face was priceless, a look she would forever remember.
