Lt. Barclay de Tolly and his daughter were in one of the conference rooms in Engineering. Lara had her IPADD with the AI program VIOLA in it. It was the IPADD she was holding on to when she and her father appeared into this reality. The IPADD contained a lot of relevant data from the reality which was erased.
Both of them stood up when Lt. Junior Grade Josephine Carlyle walked in. She was the Temporal Archeologist assigned to the Elysium. Victor and Lara both understood the purpose was to go over with her everything the possibly could go over with about missions in the other reality which might have to do with time travel, even the ones they knew about and they did not participate in.
“Good morning Lt. Carlyle,” Victor says starting the conversation. “This is my daughter Lara.”
Lara salutes Josephine. “Good morning Lieutenant.”
Josie merely smiled. "At ease" she said and waved them to their seats. "So how are you both settling in?"
Lara spoke first as often as she does when she gets a chance to be the first. "It is adjustment. Odd thing is in the other universe, my father and I did spend a lot of time on this ship in the past few years. My Aunt Mira was the Captain in that reality."
"That is why we came into this universe when the time line was corrected," Victor says with his manly smile. "Both realities the ship was the same, just the crews were different. There are a few similarities. Although having some people in this reality who were my best friends on other ships never knew who I am, the best thing is this reality version of Tonya is here and I know who my father is which is why all of this happen in the first place."
"I hope what we tell you does not get my grandfather in trouble," Lara says, "The one that actually got my grandmother pregnant is dead. Since what he did not work, it created the new reality, so Commander Runyun sent the one from the reality to prevent the one from this reality from getting my grandmother pregnant and stopping the bad guy. When he succeded, there were two versions of my grandfather alive and the Department placed both in cryogenics."
"Lara," Victor says placing his hands on Lara's hands, "We need to let her ask the questions. So do I continue where my daughter left off?"
Josie laughed softly. "Yes please. All I got from others on the ship was that someone was found without their shirt on in the captains cabin."
"That would be me," Victor blushed a bit mainly because his daughter was present. "Getting back to where Lara left off, the time line was restored. Both versions of my father that survived stayed in cryogenics. My and Lara's reality existed until we came to the present which was the moment after my father went to the past. Lara and I showed up here and my twin sister showed up on the USS Borodino. Some El Aurians like Commander Runyun are aware of both realities. Plus there were times in that reality, there were a Temporal Violator where we were visited by the USS Relativity. Plus anyone else was a product of having a time travelling parent."
"Dad," Lara interjected, "The USS Malta went back in time decades before you were born and when they returned to the present, it was after we appeared in this universe."
Josie smiled. "I myself have time traveled. I spent years in the 1660's."
"Which is probably why you are ideally suited for your position," Victor responds, "Some time travelers they say develop an immunity to changes in the time stream. I have been on missions where we find ourselves in other times. There is a working theory that El Aurians are descendents of Time Travellers, at least some of them and another theory those who have Temporal Immunity is because they spent time in the Nexus. So what would you like to know about our past?"
"Aside from your family differences, what other differences have you noticed?"
Josie asked.
"Main difference is in the reality we came from," Victor says, "The Borg are defeated. All Borg are free. Joint mission between the Enterprise, the Aventine, the Excalibur, the Defiant and several others plus Captain Erika Hernandez defeated them. The Department of Temporal Investigations have asked me not to talk about it."
Lara spoke so to get off that topic. "This universe, my father's mother spent most of her whole career as a Professor of Engineering while in the reality we came from, she spent most of her career aboard The Enterprise."
Victor smiled. "See when my father went to the past, he meets his Engineering teacher who he had a crush on and they did it and that changed her life."
"Those sorts of things happen a lot." Josie said. "So you both are settling in ok, have you felt anything weird of late? Some people who travel like you have report feeling other ruptures."
"Well there was one," Victor says, "It was because of an incident on Pacifica where someone from the future came to our present. The Temporal Cops caught them but he dropped his communication badge. Lara picked it up but a couple minutes later, the Temporal Cop came back to retrieve it."
Josie nodded. She had, had her own run in with the temporal police but they left her alone as she was returning to her own time. "And no health concerns? Degradation of cells and that sort of thing?"
"None at all," Victor answers. "Only time there was a concern was when we found ourselves on twentieth century Earth and there was a ship from the twenty third century. Quantum readings were very odd having two ships, one from the twenty third century and one from the twenty fourth century. We had to keep ourselves hidden not only from twentieth century radar but also from the twenty-third century ship."
"So in your version of this universe you time traveled a lot?"
“Just three times but I have been on missions where Temporal Police had to come in do what they could,” Victor replied.
Josephine nodded "Well, hopefully this posting will be a change of all that. The captain tries to avoid temporal situations."
"Believe me," Victor says smiling, "All times where there is a Temporal Situation, it was an accident. Anomalies can sneak up on you."
Lara decided to crack a joke next. "Plus you might wind up an extra grandfather."
Victor laughed a bit. "Tell me about it. I have one father serving on the USS Borodino and the other serving with The Department of Temporal Investigations and one dead in the past. All the same guy."
"Well the crew once faced their future children. Quite confronting I was informed. Since then the captain has been very careful. She does not want to mess the timeline up." Josephine smiled.
"Being the product of a time traveler," Victor sighs. "I understand completely."
"Plus when the timeline changes," Lara added, "We plus some El Aurians and other products of time travelers kniw about it. Mam, is there anything else you need to know?"
"No i think you have both given me more than enough so I can write my report, Thank you." Josie smiled.
