A Shiver ran up the length of Reo’thanra Sandtail’s spine as he stood in formation, flanked by Humanoids of various species, most of whom he hadn’t bothered to learn during his brief Introduction into The Star Fleet Engineering corp. The only major thing he’d come to identify with the Species of the federation, was how Much bigger than he was. A second shiver quickly followed the first as his thoughts drifted again, barely listening to the pointy eared Humanoid who was speaking atop the Small stage before the amassed graduates of the Star fleet academy. He’d been lumped in with the last few classes of the Engineering Courses, given a little over four months of training and education, A Shorter time than he’d anticipated, but long enough for him to get a Decent grasp on the Inner workings of most star fleet ships.
At least that had been before he’d learned something that made his blood run colder than these Humanoids preferred their ships. Star Fleet instead of having a standard construction Template for each ship class, like the Arten Defense fleet had been using for Going on a century. Each ship had the capacity to have its own mission specific Construction and Engineering. The thought was a disturbing one to him, as it meant he could find himself on a ship with a set of kit he’d never been trained to use. How it was that Star fleet hasn’t scattered itself to the stars with any warp jump, Reo wasn’t sure, but somehow they’d become the Dominant power in the Quadrant so they could be utterly incompetent.
He shuddered again, his Winter Coat shifting loudly in his ears as he silently prayed to the stars that this Ceremony would end soon, and that he’d be Able to return to his Quarters and crank the heat as high as he could. He Sighed and Shifted himself in place trying to get some blood flowing as he glanced to his side, the missing Carbine making him Uneasy, His anxiety translating into the Motion of his large ears which had folded flat against The ragged mop of Longer fur atop his head. His growing discomfort was Finally given Some relief as the Vulcan’s speech finally concluded with a: “You are the Future of Star Fleet, and the Federation, I Look forward to seeing you each among the stars, Live long, and prosper.”
A Great Cheer Erupted through the Crowd, The Cadets around him all began to celebrate, A Blue skinned Humanoid next To him Cheering in a tongue that he wasn’t quite able to track, or pick up, but the Meaning was understood. In A burst of speed that shocked himself, he Took off running, Not bother to stay through the celebrations and Presumable after party, His focus on the pleasant heat that his quarters held. He already knew the ship he’d be transferred to, he intended get a head start on packing up his Gear, and get his Thermally regulating armor back on, And Get back Out of this Frozen hellscape of a planet.
