Mission: Season 5: Episode 2: Operation Save Humanity

Timeline: MD1 17h30
707 words - 1.4 OF Standard Post Measure

Gallia had prepared her report for the CO and now was in Taylor's office, now Lovejoy's office, and waiting for the villain himself. She held a picture of Tayalas, one she intended to leave with Lovejoy, and awaited him.

Garrett entered a few seconds later. He stopped when he saw Gallia already there waiting for him. "Comman.... no excuse me, Lieutenant Norris this is unexpected. What can I do for you?" He asked as he moved around her and sat behind the desk. He looked at her, "Please, have a seat." He gestured to a chair in front of the desk.

"I jes turnt in ma report on the readiness of tis ship, and I wanted te see ye." Gallia started, holding up the picture, "This is ma daughter, Tayalas, sir."

"Excellent. I'm sure the Captain will be pleased." He looked at the picture of Tayalas. "Pretty girl. But why show me?" He questioned.

"She's awfully attached to Kara, her mummy." Gallia said, feeling weak in front of him, "That bein' said, she's so happy to get her back here. So ye see, it isnae just my life yer messin' with this time, i's hers too."

Garrett studied her for several seconds before answering. "I'm sure she does love Kara . Kara is a very nice woman. I consider her a friend. Again I repeat my question, why show me?"

"It'd break her heart te see Kara bein' wit someone else." Gallia stated, ''I lmow ye don't care a damn for me, an' I dinnae think ye give a damn for Kara either, but be kind to Tay. She loves her mummy, don't take her." She hated what she was doing now, begging Lovejoy not to take her woman, like he was Jolene or something.

Garrett didn't laugh or make some flip remark instead he said, "Lieutenant you have completely misjudged me." He spoke with a quiet intensity. "I have recently been reunited with a woman I love dearly. Who was trapped in the Mirror Universe for four years. who I have a son with. So, as charming as Kara is, she is yours. I have no plans to take her from you or Tayalas. You have nothing to fear from me in that regard." he paused and continued, "I don't know why I shared that with you but I thought you would like to know."

Wait a second, had she misjudged Lovejoy? No, it was a trick, it had to be, but knowing of this woman now, she certainly was less fearful of him. She nodded at him, "We're doin' our best, sir, and I'll be able te focus now, not having ye te fear."

"Fear makes us do terrible things Lieutenant. Has us see enemies where there aren't any. Remember that. Your life, the life you make with Kara is yours and hers hands and if you love your daughter as much as I think you do. You will do everything possible to keep your family together."

"I dae love her, love her a lot." Gallia smiled, "An' mebbe I saw an enemy where their wasnae any, but I regret nothin' now. Just hoping to make things right for Tay."

"I don't fault you for that Lieutenant. We all want the best for our children even me. Just pick your battles more carefully."

"I didnae know ye had any kids." Gallia said, "But I guess I dinnae much about ye." She reached onto his desk to retrieve the picture of Tayalas, then thought better of it, "I tell ye whet, why dinnae ye keep that picture? Might brighten the place up a bit."

"No you didn't." Garrett admitted. He took the picture and placed it on the desk. "Thank you, it does brighten the place up."

"Aye, that it does." Gallia laughed, "Very best te ye then, sir."

"Thank you Lieutenant and to you as well. Love your daughter and Kara. Keep them close and treasure them for the jewels they are." Garrett replied.

"Aye, that I will, sir."Gallia replied, "Well, if there's nothing else."

Garrett shook his head, "No, nothing else Lieutenant. Other than to watch your step. Don't assume you know people." He then added cryptically. "I think I have said enough."
