Vira Vemre must have been favored by some deity to have made it aboard the Elysium before it departed Starbase one. She was glad she hadn't assumed she had plenty of time to dilly dally or she would surely have been stuck taking some run down transport or reassigned somewhere far less appealing.

Striding down the corridor the perky little ball of sunshine waved and winked at anyone daring to make eye contact. V always had a bounce in her step and a sparkle in her eye. When she came to the first officers office she tucked a stray strand of golden hair behind her left ear and rang the chime.

Garrett was hard at work, overseeing supplies were processed, new crew assigned quarters and given a manual on the Elysium, her history and the command team. He was also dealing with 'searching' weeding out those that Carrington might find objectionable. When his chime sounded.

Looking up from his work, he called out "Come!"

The doors swooshed open and V entered wearing a bright smile, as well as a pristine uniform. She locked her hands at the small of her back as she approached Lovejoys desk. "Commander Lovejoy, " She dipped her head slightly, "Ensign Vira Vemre reporting for duty sir."

Garrett looked at the new officer standing before him. Her uniform was pressed and without wrinkles. *A plus for her. She's respectful as well. Another plus.* He thought.

Aloud he said, "At ease Ensign and please have a seat. Do you have your transfer orders?" He asked.

Relaxing her shoulders a bit V extended a PaDD containing her transfer orders to Lovejoy before taking a seat. She crossed her legs but still sat straight.

Garrett looked over her orders. "Hmmm. Graduated 2293, Four years on the freighter USS Rosenbloom before transferring here. How did you like the Rosenbloom Ensign?"

Chuckling softly she replied, "If I'm being honest, it was a bit of a bore." She gave a nonchalant shrug. "Forgive me if that's a bit forward. The lack of adventure made me miss the sunshine back home even more."

Garrett chuckled, "I don't fault you for being honest Ensign. I hope you find your time her on the Elysium to be more ... stimulating. We'll certainly try to keep you from getting bored."

"I certainly hope so Commander, I'll be holding you to it." She smiled, knowing she was walking a fine line of unprofessionalism with the brave statement. Which Vira did more often then not, her superiors tolerated it in the past but Vira wasn't naïve to believe it would be tolerated here as well.

"Indeed Ensign. Then I'm sure you will let me know if that ever becomes the case. As we don't want you getting bored." Garrett replied easily but without any humor. As he looked at Vira.

"You'll be the first one I inform should I find myself with less then entertained." Vira's lips formed a thin line but her eyes still held her smile. "I worked under Lieutenant Whavi while she was on the Rosenbloom so I'm sure my transition to the Elysium will be an easy one."

"I'm sure it will be. Lieutenant Whavi has also just been named as second officer for the Elysium. Follow her example and you will indeed go far Ensign," Garrett replied.

Vira's hazel eyes widened. "Somehow I missed that memo. Seems congratulations are in order."

"You can congratulate her when you see her. " Garrett replied. "She's also your department chief."

Vira folded her hands in her lap," Well that surely makes things interesting."

"Will you be able to work with Lt. Whavi being both Second Officer and your department head?" Garrett inquired.

Vira shrugged her right shoulder making an un phased face. "Of course I can." Vira had no problem, but Baeryn might she thought to herself, withholding the sly grin that was fighting its way to her face. To keep composure Vira shifted in her seat and cleared her throat.

"Something else you wish to add Ensign?" Garrett asked as he had been quietly observing Vira through their conversation.

Vira set her hazel eyes on Lovejoy and smiled widely. “No sir. I just look forward to getting started is all, forgive me if I seem antsy.”

Garrett nodded, "Understandable, a new position a new ship. I imagine you want to see and talk with Lt. Whavi as well."

"I'll make it a point to do so soon, yes." Vira bit the side of her cheek to keep her smile small. "Will that be all sir?"

"Yes Ensign." Garrett sighed, "That is all. Check in with Whavi, get your shift assignments as well as get familiar with the ship."

'And its crew' she thought slyly. Standing Vira bowed her head, "Hopefully I'll be seeing you around Commander."

"I'm sure you will Ensign." Garrett replied coolly watching Vira stand. "I won't keep you any longer from reporting to Lt. Whavi. Oh, at some point in the near future, You'll need to check in with Captain Carrington."

"I will do so promptly sir. It was a please to meet you, and I do hope you enjoy your day." Vira's bright smile returned as she waited to be dismissed.

"Very good Ensign. You're dismissed and I hope your day is good as well as productive." Garrett replied.

'And vice versa' she thought but before she could do something to warrant a reprimand Vira turned and exited the commanders office.

Garrett watched Vira leave. "Interesting Officer." he said to himself before turning to the stack of PaDDs on his desk.
