Her arrival had been a quick one, Emily stepped off the transporter PADD nodding politely to the transporter chief. She'd requested a temporary twelve month duty reassignment to the USS Elysium and was pleasantly excited when it had been approved. She'd had her luggage sent straight to her quarters leaving her free to head to the Ready Room to meet Captain Carrington.

As she arrived on the bridge Emily made her way across to the Ready Room and pressed the chime.

"come!" Came the call. The captain had been reading up on Green and was not impressed with everything she was reading. She looked up as the door opened and nodded. "Ensign?"

“Petty Officer Emily Charles Captain” Emily smiled as she greeted Carrington. “I requested a twelve month temporary reassignment here ma’am.” She handed over her transfer orders.

Yasmine took the orders and read them. "Why?" she asked simply. She wanted to know.

“In all honesty, I miss my brother Ma’am. We have a... difficult past, George is a fighter pilot here aboard the Elysium. George raised me after we eventually escaped from abusive foster parents. Without George I wouldn’t be where I am now.”

Yasmine sat back in her chair and waved Emily to a seat. "And you are a Nurse." she stated. "I am sure doctor Sthlig will welcome another Nurse to his team."

Emily took a seat, “I’m looking forward to being a part of the team ma’am, I’m a surgical nurse so I have plenty of experience where surgical procedures are needed.”

Yasmine nodded. "I cannot guarantee that those skills will not be needed so it is good to know we have such skills on board" She paused. "Tell me, Petty officer, will you be looking for career progression here?"

“To be honest I haven’t given thought to that. All I gave thought to was being here with George, he’s not just my twin he saved my life. We have a bond that few understand, of course if the opportunity for career advancement came up I’d definitely give it serious thought.”

"Its just that one of the other nurses is undertaking the Officer transition course, and If you wish to do so, You should let the Chief medical officer know."

“To be honest ma’am I hadn’t considered taking the Officer transition, I’ve gotten used to being a Petty Officer.” Emily smiled warmly.

"Well the option is there." Yasmine said. "As we have an onboard academy there is no need for you to leave the ship should you wish to undertake such a track."

Emily nodded and smiled. “Thank you Captain, I appreciate the offer.”

"It is an offer open to all on the ship" Yasmine replied

“It’s certainly beneficial being part of a ship and crew that has an onboard Academy” Emily smiled warmly. “I may just decide to take up the offer whilst I’m here.”

Yasmine smiled. "Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist with that."

“I will thank you Captain.” Emily smiled warmly. “With your permission I’ll go and get organised ma’am. I still have to check in with sickbay, and the counsellor as well as surprise my brother.”

"Good Luck," Yasmine smiled. "And I hope he is surprised."

“Ohh he will be Captain!” Emily grinned as she stood ready to leave. “He’ll be very surprised!”

"Have a good time Petty Officer" Yasmine said with a smile and dismissed her.

“Thank you Captain” with that Emily nodded politely and headed on her way.

Yasmine watched her leave and then made a note on the file that if Petty Officer Charles wanted to go higher, that she would have a good chance at it. She put the PADD down and moved onto the next file.
