Mission: Darkness Rising - A Phoenix Lalor Sub Plot
Location: Unknown
Timeline: MD5 07h00
2903 words - 5.8 OF Standard Post Measure

Sasha had found the target. "It's a medical outpost, run by Klingons." She said to the group as they moved into the Black Watch. "minimal security, In fact it is mainly deserted. My information says 10 klingons at most."

Lily nodded "Let's try to get those supplies without killing too many ok?"

"Well now," Mattias spoke up, his usual dour mask back in place. "Where's the fun in that?"

"Think of it as a challenge to your skill. Extra points for wounding them." Malakai remarked dourly.

Mattais sneered at the man who was bedding his little sister. "And how many for wounding you?

"We are not at War with the Klingons... yet" Lily smirked, "Do not worry I am sure you will get your chance." she made sure she was between the two men.

"We could give it a helping hand if you like Lily." Malakai suggested.

Lily rolled her eyes "Pass on that."

Gwynn headed for the bridge and Jaxon followed. "I need the co-ordinates Sasha!" he called back.

Sasha sighed and followed.

Anna came up. "Cargo bay doors are sealed, all hatches secured."

Lily nodded. "Get to your stations everyone" she called out. "Jaxon! take us out!" she called towards the bridge.

"Aye!" Came the reply.

"Ladies and gentleman, watch the Intrepid crew of the Black watch, raid a Klingon Medical facility." Malakai said as he strapped in, "I wish I had some popcorn. This should be fun."

"What you would prefer us to take on a vesta Class?" Sasha asked as she sat behind Gwynn.

"I didn't say that Sasha." Malakai replied crisply.

"just checking" She replied before she went back to the PADD that was ever in her hand.

Lily rolled her eyes. "Jaxon?"

"Yeah all good. Firing engines now." The helm officer replied.

The crew settled in for the departure.

= 6 hours later=

Jaxon brought them out of warp behind a large gas giant. "According to the intel, the station is on the far side, amid the rings.' he said.

"How current is the Intel?" Malakai asked.

"12 hours" Came the reply from Sasha.

"Good enough." Malakai replied .

"Jaxon.." Lily said softly. "Take us in slowly."

"Aye."

"Here's a better word... stealthily." Malakai offered.

Jaxon gave him a look. "Really? You want stealth? in this ship? She is not exactly built for that. She has great speed though."

"Doesn't hurt to ask." Malakai countered.

"Look, so sorry forgot to requisition the Romulan Cloaking device." Jaxon said sarcastically.

"Keep us in their sensor blind spots. Gwynn bring weapons on line."Lily stated

"Aye" came the reply from weapons.

Sasha brought up the schematics of the Station. "All crew are on the bridge, we should be able to get in and out if we go through this docking port."

Lily looked towards Mattias, Clara and Joshua. "you guys up for it?"

Standing at the rear of the cramped cockpit, Mattias made a show of drawing the pistol in his right thigh holster and checking its battery pack charge before reholstering it. He then pulled out a cigar and popped in the right corner of his mouth. Giving Lily a look only she would recognize, he then said aloud. "I'm good to go." He then looked over at his fellow gunslingers. "Well, kids," he grumbled. "Answer the nice lady."

"Yeah, good to go" Joshua replied with a grin.

Clara nodded. "Yup, all ready to go."

Once the rest of his striketeam replied, Mattias spoke up again. "You get us in postion, we'll do our best to keep the klingons off your backs while y'all get what we need."

"Well do better." Malakai groused.

Mattias was about to reply when the doors opened as Kara appeared in Command. “I need to go along” she knew Mattias wouldn’t like that not after the last time she faced Klingons. It had almost lead to a nasty conclusion. “Before there’s any objections...” she looked at both Mattias and Malakai, “Who else has medical knowledge? I can find what we need a hell of a lot faster!”

Mattias wanted to object, hell he didnt even want his baby sister on this mission, but, she was the best qualified for their needs. "Clara, you stick to Kara like white on rice." He then raised a warning finger to Kara, who seemed ready to say something. "Not up for discussion!"

Kara nodded. “Fine!” She looked to Clara. “Looks like you’re my babysitter.”

Clara smiled and held out a phaser to her. "Just in case. Point and press the trigger okay?"

“I know what a phaser does dammit!!” Kara took the phaser. “I’m not some princess, I do know how to defend myself!”

"Not the way Mattias is talking." Clara replied.

Lily stood and handed out several small discs. "Holo disguises everyone. Lets not alert the the quadrant to who we are."

“Great! Now we get to be someone else to add more confusion to things.” She put the holoimager on her belt ready to use.

Mattias took his disk, the index finger of his right hand rubbing against Lily's fingers slightly as he did so. He then flipped the disk in the air like a coin, before catching it easily in his right palm. "And just who should the boneheads think we are?"

Lily smirked " For you? A short fat Tellerite." She laughed as she finished.

Mattias gave Lily a look, then a slight grin.

Kara couldn’t help but laugh, the thought of her big brother looking like a Tellerite was pretty humorous. She looked to Lily “How long do we have to do this?”

"Sasha?" Lily looked at the redhead.

"Uh... 30 or so" came the vague reply.

Lily winced at that response.

“Great! Then we need to get going” Kara looked at the others. “It’s going to take time to find and sort through the medical supplies we need, the longer we have the better!”

"Why not just grab what they have, sort it later? It would look more convincing as a smash and grab." Mattias suggested as he clipped his holodisk to his gunbelt.

“I plan on making the place look plenty trashed, I just want to make sure we get everything along the way.” Kara gave her brother a wry smile.

Mattias knew that look in his sister's eyes. Moving over to her, he reached out, gently grabbing the back of her head and pulled her forehead to his. "I will be very upset if you do anything stupid." He then tilted his head up to kiss her forehead. "Careful," he whispered to her.

Malakai watched in silence as Kara and Mattias shared a moment. He shared Mattias's advice and would tell Kara later but for now he let the siblings have a moment.

“Aren’t I always?” Kara smiled as she looked into her brother’s eyes.

Giving her a playful growl, Mattias glaced back at Clara. "Like fucking rice!"

"Yeah yeah yeah" Came the reply from Clara as the hologram turned her into an Andorian.

Grunting, Mattias turned back to face the front. He asked Lily, "You wanna tell Tinkerbell to take us in?" He gave her a quick wink that no one saw but her.

She rolled her eyes. "Keep it up and I will program your holoemitter to show you as a 4 inch fairy in a green dress with sparkly wings" she replied as she headed for the bridge.

Jaxon brought them in the to airlock without incident. He called down "Airlock sealed and secure. Good to go!"

Lilly, now a bajoran with red hair nodded and waved the group through. "Lead on."

Kara stepped up in her disguise, which funnily enough was just a different looking Human female. Heading towards the medical section to locate the supplies she required.

Malakai came next behind Kara, his holoimager was on and he was now a Vulcan. "By the numbers this time people." He remarked.

Mattias came out next. Out of sheer morbid humor, he discovered that Lily had actually programmed his emitter to make him look like a Pakled. And a female one to boot! "You are so paying for this later," he whispered into Lily's ear as he passed her and entered the station.

"Suits you" she hissed back and watched as Joshua and Clara moved to flank Kara.

As he exited the Black Watch, Mattias grumbled. "Any Klingon that looks at my ass is gonna die."

"ah its such a cute arse" Joshua, now a hulking nuasican, smirked.

Looking over at the Nausican, Mattias growled. "Keep it up, Josh. I'll kick your ass later."

"Sure Little miss Piggy" And off Joshua went with Malakai. .

Behind them, Lily was almost doubled over in laughter.

Malakai decided to add to Mattias discomfort by letting loose a low whistle. "Wow! A whole new meaning to the word sexy." He smirked.

Mattias stopped and snapped his eyes back at Malakai, though they weren't his angry eyes, but the innocent eyes of a female Pakled. "Laugh it up, shithead." He then turned away. He was on mission now, his extensive combat training and experience kicking in.

The cool dark eyes of a Vulcan looked back at him. "Oh, I shall lovely Pakled female. Have no doubt about that." Malakai's voice came back to him.

===A few moments later===

Moving deeper into the station, Mattias tried to be as inconspicuous as possible. When they reached their destination, he gave a hand signal to Joshua to cover the other end of the corridor.

He nodded and took up the position.

Kara stood waiting for the nod to go ahead and get what she needed to get. Hopefully everything would be straight forward enough and they’d be out pretty quick.

After a few beats of silence, Mattias finally gave the go signal. He then turned back to watch the corridor in front of him.

Kara nodded as she saw the go signal, she nodded to Mattias before heading into the medical storage to find what supplies they needed. Walking in she looked around for a moment, the place wasn’t as organised as she was hoping she could only hope that the way things were arranged would make sense.

Clara stayed close to Kara and they moved off.

Lily moved off behind the group, carrying a PADD that she used to track her crew.

Malakai was alert to any possible sign they had been detected on their little unannounced shopping trip.

Kara's first trip went without a hitch. While she was back in the medical stores looking for more supplies that they could use, the intruder alarm sounded. "Time to go, Kara!" Mattias shouted, as the first few disruptor blasts flew past his head. He fired back, ensuring that, unlike the Klingons, his pistols were on heavy stun.

“Two seconds!” Kara yelled back before all hell broke loose, before she knew it she was separated from Clara and the others, her holographic imager was damaged as she tripped and stumbled over boxes on the floor. Scrambling to get to her feet she was looked over by a large Klingon with a sneer on his face.

“I know you!” He grabbed her roughly. “My brother was killed by yours! Now it’s my turn to have some fun!”

Out in the corridor, Mattias/Pakled woman hologram was brawling with a rather large Klingon. The two were slamming each other from one bulkhead to another, each landing hard blows upon the other. Suddenly, Mattias's holoemitter shorted out, revealing his true face. The Klingon was momentarily suprised. Mattias used the surprise to his advantage. He quickly reached behind his back and pulled his Ka-bar. Snapping it around, he quikly buried it under his opponent's jaw. He felt the finely sharpened blade slice through flesh and tongue like a hot knife through butter. Then the satisfying crunch of the sinus cavity, then skull, being broken.

After Mattias had buried his combat knife to the hilt inside the Klingon, he twisted the blade and then wrenched it free, lavender blood flowing freely from his vanquished opponent.

Wasting no time, Mattias moved off towards the next enemy, unaware of what was happening to his sister.

Malakai was also busy setting explosive charges to cover the groups escape. Like Mattias, he was unaware of the trouble Kara was in. He had set the timers and yelled, "People we are leaving! Time to go!"

Meanwhile Kara was taking a beating, though she was doing her best to give as good as she got. If this was going to end badly she wouldn’t go down without a fight. Laying on the floor dazed her Klingon attacker was about to go a nasty step further when an explosion distracted him, taking her chance Kara scrambled off into the darkness to make her escape.

Out in the corridor, Mattias heard Malakai’s message. As he started towards where their ship was docked, he was hit with a blind tackle from behind. As soon as he hit the deck, he rolled to his side, away from the Klingo that hit him, only to see her hit in her torso with a phaser on heavy stun. When he got back to his feet, he saw Lily there, the phaser still in her hand. "Thanks, Li. I owe you one!"

She gave a smiled and nodded. "Lets move. Get me a headcount!"

Nodding, Mattias hustled off, seeing the back of Kara's head as she entered the Black Watch. Feeling relieved that she was safe, though unaware of what had happened to her, he moved off to collect the rest of the raid team. "Clara! Joshua! Let's go kids! Mom said it's time to go home!" He shot two advancing Klingons as he covered their retreat.

Falling back to the hatch, he saw that everyone, but Phoenix was inside. Thats when he saw her, grappling with a larger male Klingon.

Lily grunted and dropped to the ground, throwing the klingon off balance. "You are so not my type" she hissed as she kicked at him.

The brute fell forward when Phoenix changed her center of balance on him. He then took the kick to his face. Unfortunately, he quickly started to shake it off. His left hand flashed out, long, strong fingers wrapping around her throat, pinning her to the deck. Drawing his d'tang from its sheath, he reared back and was about to plunge it down into Phoenix's chest, when suddenly someone shouted to him.

"Oi! Shithead!"

The brute paused and looked.

Just in time to see Mattias land an incredibly powerful right upper cut to the base of his nose. The force of the blow, along with the brass knuckles that the Marine was never without, was enough to not only brwak his hold on Phoenix's slender neck but, drive the bones in his nose up into his brain, killing him instantly, as he toppled backwards, a heap of flesh and bones, ready to enter the Afterlife.

"Fuck! That hurt!" Mattias was shaking his bruised right, as he reached down to help Phoenix up with his left. "Dearest," he managed to joke through the pain. "How many times have I told you not to flirt with the wildlife." When she was on her feet, he pulled her to him and whispered in her ear. "Besides, I'm the only one allowed to grab that beautiful neck of yours." He kissed her her fiercly, then turned, pushing her ahead of him, towards the open hatch.

Once they both cleared the hatch, Mattias reached back and slapped the door controls, sealing the hatch and breaking the seal to the station. Shouting up towards the bridge, he said, "Alright, Tinkerbell! Get us the hell outta here!" He then moved to check Lily. "You okay?"

She nodded as she rubbed her neck. "Yeah fine. I am just pissed I left my knives... at home." she grumbled.

The deck shifted beneath them as Jaxon disconnected them from the airlock.

"Malakai? Headcount and Injuries?"

Malakai looked up from his seat and proceeded with the head count. "All here and counted for. As for injuries, you have a bruised neck. Kara has various bruises and cuts." His voice took on a tone of concern as he mentioned it. "And little Miss Piggy (Mattias) looks like he broke broke his hand. Just another day at the office."

Lily could not help herself. Her lips quirked at the last. "For me, not so much" she muttered. Gary had better be looking after her knives that were still stashed under her command chair, that's all she could think of.

Clara moved to take her seat. "I need a shower."

"Don't we all" Muttered Joshua. "Klingons stink."

Mattias merely shook his head as he slid onto the deck plating next to Lily. He had no energy to bicker with Malakai right now. Raising his shaking right hand, he tried to pull the brass knuckles off with his left hand, but kept stopping when the pain from the shattered knuckles got too high. “Well shit,” he cursed between breaths.

Kara had slipped away quickly back to her quarters for a shower, she knew if she was away too long someone would come looking so she made it quick, being the ship medic she had to sort out the injured her own injuries would have to wait.

Jaxon took them to warp, heading for home.
