Brief Interview with Ms Elisha Pryce-Randal - onboard Ship Reporter

EPR: What is your role on the Elysium? And what does it entail?

GC: Well, I am one of the senior Valkyrie starfighter pilots here on Elysium. My primary responsibilities are to provide overflight protection to the Elysium, should she ever enter into combat. My fellow starfighter pilots and I would act as a protective screen for the Elysium, especislly if the enemy launched fighters as well. I also help the group leader in ensuring the fresh pilots recieve the appropriate on location training.

EPR: What made you choose that line of work?

GC: I've always wanted to be both a Marine and a pilot. I just wanted to protect others. Protect my sister. The Marines are pure and courageous warriors and defenders of the United Federation of Planets and the ideals of the Constitution. Yes, Starfleet officers and enkisted are trained to do the same, but, they are not given tbat further training of actually tKing the fight to our enemies. And Marine starfighter pilots are at the forward end of the sword that is used to defeat the UFP's enemies.

EPR:How do you handle the pressure that comes with being a Starfleet officer?

GC: (remains quiet for a beat) I, uh, I try to meditate and listen to my calming music. Also, when I'm flying, I feel free. When Im off duty, I spen as much free time with my wife. We take care of each other, help to shoulder the other's burden.

EPR: What would you say to a cadet aspiring to do what you do?

GC: I'd say, to only do it if you have a strong drive to being out on the spear tip. You would be the first one to enter combat, and, the chances of returning to you ship rapidly decrease the longer that each dogfight continues. Also, you'd need to be resourceful and have a strong survival instinct. I. Case you are ever shot down, you need to be able to take care of yourself until help arrives and brings you home.

EPR: What is your favorite memory of your time at the academy/basic Training?

GC: Climbing into my Valkyrie starfighter for the very first time. It was exhilarating to finally take off and soar like an eagle through air and space. I've never felt more alive then I did that day. Well, actually, I'd have to say that I'd have two favorite memories for the Academy. The other one would have to be my graduation day itself. Seeing the pride in my sister's eyes was wonderful to experience.

EPR: Do you have any funny tales to tell about your time on the USS Elysium?

GC: um... No, I.. I don't really have anything. I've only been on the ship a short time. Though, I have met a few good people here, and one of them likes to run old earth pirate holodeck games. Those were pretty funny, seeing the players in their roles.
