Brief Interview with Ms Elisha Pryce-Randal - onboard Ship Reporter

EPR: What is your role on the Elysium? And what does it entail?

T'Kek: *grinning* Greetings Ms. Pryce-Randal. I am a medical officer and my duties include healing any injured or sick crew that visits sickbay or become injured or sick while on an Away Mission. I also help to ensure that the medical supplies are stocked. I am currently assigned to the Gamma Shift.


EPR: What made you choose that line of work?

T'Kek: It was actually my mother who caused me to want to become a doctor in Starfleet. I used to go to her work and watch her heal other people and I saw the satisfaction she gained from making the lives of others better. When I became older, she allowed me to help her by getting supplies for her and cleaning medical instruments. She now heads up Medical research at Starfleet Medical.


EPR: How do you handle the pressure that comes with being a Starfleet officer?

T'Kek: *shrugs* Holodeck exercises mostly. *chuckling* I know that seems odd because most people intend to think that since I'm part Vulcan, I must meditate my life away. While I do meditate at times, I find physical activity to much more of a stress release. I prefer to practice the Terran martial art of Yoshinkan-style Aikido.


EPR: What would you say to a cadet aspiring to do what you do?

T'Kek: Hmmm, well, I suppose I would tell them to not do the things I did at the Academy. *chuckles* But in honesty, get as much hands on learning as you can and study hard because Starfleet Medical is not easy nor is it for the weak of heart. It also never hurts to learn to think outside of the box when confronted with an mystery because they will happen in your career.



EPR: What is your favorite memory of your time at the academy?

T'Kek: That is a hard one. *Pausing for a minute* I had a lot of wonderful memories at the Academy. However, I would have to say that my favorite memory was my last night at Starfleet Medical before we were shipped off to our duty assignments the following morning. My friends Nina Litterest, A'nar, Jorza, and I went out to The Saloon in San Francisco and celebrated all night.


EPR: Do you have any funny tales to tell about your time on the USS Elysium?

T'Kek: One time my friends and I played a practical joke on Professor Sarl. He was not happy to say the least. The entire class had to clean every medical instrument at Starfleet Medical but seeing Professor Sarl covered head to toe in Andorian Slime was well worth it. Then there was the time I slept with the Dean's daughter and ended up jumping out of her bedroom window when her father came home un-expectantly. *chuckles* I ended up running across the campus to my dorm room in nothing but my underwear.
