***PREVIOUSLY***
One nodded in agreement, then answered David. "You need to go to where you felt secure in yourself."
Nodding, David closed his eyes and concentrated.
Slowly, the scene changed from the warm Long Island beach, tl the frozen wastes of Antarctica, where the El Aruians had had a listening and observation post. As the trio look around them, Two grunted and clicked, pointing off to their relative left.
A short ways away, someone was playing in the snow. As the trio approached, the person turned, to reveal a young boy version of David. "Hi, Dabid! Wanna play in da snow wit me?"
***AND NOW***
David smiled warmly at the younger version of himself, which was his superego. It made sense, actually. Who other than a child would have a stronger sense of what's right and what's wrong.
Seeing that Three was building a rather large collection of snowballs, David knelt down next him and started to help. "Who's all these for? You planning a snowball war with someone?"
Three turned and looked at David, fear in his bright cerulean eyes. Quickly looking around, he motioned for David to lean in closer, as if he had a secret to tell.
David did as requested and turned his right ear towards Three as he leaned closer.
"Dere for da monstur!" Three whispered, fear causing his little voice to tremble.
Two snarled and chattered a statement.
One nodded. "Indeed, Two. David, Three means the damaged part of your mind. There is a demon there, that is holding us all hostage here."
"A demon?" David asked aloud, causing Three to cringe.
"Don't say that out loud, Dabid!" Three whispered.
From out in the far wastes of Antarctica, a load roar could suddenky be heard. It's very volume seemed to make the ice quake around them. Three quickly hid behind David's legs, shivering in terror.
Without thinking, David put a comforting hand on Three's head, as his eyes tracking out over the wasteland of ice and snow, searching for the enemy. "If the demon is out there, we must fight it." His voice lower now as he spoke to the entire group.
One replied first. "We can help you, David, however, you must battle the demon yourself."
David looked at each part of his psyche. He could finally truly see himself in each one. However, there was still something missing. He could feel it deep inside. But what?
Two made some gargling and hissing sounds.
Three shook his head while still hiding behind David. "Nooo! I scawed! Please! Let's just stay hewe! We can play snowball fights."
Twisting and turning toward Three, David picked him up and held him close. "It's going to be okay, Three," he spoke in a calm, soothing voice. "Now that we are together, there's nothing we can't do." He looked at One and Two. "Together."
"Together," One replied as he nodded in agreement.
Two whistled and raised two thumbs up to show his agreement as well.
David looked back down at Three, patiently waiting.
A few beats passed and then, looking over first to Two, One, then up into David's cerulean eyes, Three finally nodded and said, "Togever."
David smiled proudly. Then, the for of them set out into the wastes, searching for their foe.
The battle was about to begin...
