Fernando was in the kitchen fixing some snacks of Heather and himself as Heather rested on the couch with her feet up. After several minutes he came out with a platter full of food. "Here we go Heather, I believe you can find something there to eat. There is cheese and crackers, some deviled eggs, with no pickles, yuck!" He said making a face. "A bowl of tuna salad and some crackers for it along with some celery sticks. and two glasses of water." He finished as he placed the platter on the coffee table and sat down next to here. "Well? What are you waiting for? Dig in."
Heather smiled as she looked at her husband. “To what do I owe this treat?” She picked up some cheese and a cracker, and started eating.
"Nothing in particular Heather. Just the fact that I love you very much and I want you to rest even more now with your due date getting ever closer." Fernando replied.
“Then I will save you worrying and rest more.” Heather smiled warmly as she politely ate some tuna salad. I’ll admit this is taking a lot of energy out of me, I never realised just how tough on the body pregnancy truly is.”
"I think you are handling it wonderfully Heather. Granted, I'm not carrying a bowling ball in my stomach but you are handling it with grace and good spirits." Fernando replied as he picked up a deviled egg.
Heather smiled. “Thank you Imzadi” She picked up a devilled egg as well, just seeing Fernando with his made her want one. “To be honest I’m starting to get nervous, it’s not that long to go before this little one is due.”
Fernando shook his head, "You will do fine Heather and our baby will be fine as well. Now being nervous is one thing but don't let it control you Heather. When you start feeling especially nervous, call me. You aren't in this alone."
Heather nodded. “I will, I promise!” She smiled warmly. “Going from the braxton hicks I’ve been getting labour is going to be something neither of us will forget in a hurry!” She offered a grin.
"I'm sure you are right Heather." Fernando answered as he grabbed a cracker and cheese. "However we are in this together and whatever comes with it."
“I know we are” Heather nodded as she ate some more of her food. She was enjoying it very much.
Fernando stood, "Now I have a question for you Heather. "Computer lower lights and place a spotlight on me." He instructed. when the lights were lowered and the spotlight was on him he spoke to Heather. "This question is for you Heather." He paused and spoke again. "Computer begin playing music." Soon their quarters were filled with a jaunty tune and Fernando spoke. "Heather De La Rosa, the Starlight Room is proud to bring you Fernando De La Rosa." with that he began to sing, holding his hands in front of him like he was holding a microphone and gently swaying to the music as he sang.
When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you
I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save (shall scrimp and save)
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck and Dave
Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
Heather’s smile practically shone as she applauded Fernando at the end of his song. “Fernando De La Rosa, I will ALWAYS need and love you! No matter what!!” She grinned.
Fernando smiled brilliantly at her as he came back to sit next to her. "I will always love you Heather. You are my Betazoid Rose." He told her softly as he kissed her cheek.
“A Betazoid rose who would be nothing without you” Heather smiled as she leant in and gave Fernando a loving kiss.
"You are very kind to say so Heather." Fernando replied as he handed her a deviled egg. "However, it is I who would nothing without you and your love in my life."
Taking the egg Heather smiled warmly. "The day you saved me from slavery was the day my life started anew. Thank you for giving me a whole new chance at life Fernando."
"You would have done the same for me Heather. The day I met you, my life changed for the better Heather. I found my soulmate, the woman I love with all my heart and soul. My better half." Fernando replied looking deeply into her eyes. "I would be lost without you Heather."
Heather smiled. “Then you will never be lost, I’ll always be here with you no matter what!”
"My shining light." Fernando answered as he wrapped an arm around Heather and hugged her tightly.
“My knight in shining armour” Heather smiled as she enjoyed Fernando’s hug.
"We make quite a team Heather. Unbeatable in fact." Fernando noted. "Always looking out for the other."
“That’s the way a partnership works Imzadi” Heather smiled. “We take care of each other.”
"You are absolutely right Heather. We watch and care for each other forever." Fernando agreed happily.
