Now that Baeryn had given David the news of her pregnancy she was more comfortable letting the little fact she was with child be known. Walking into sick bay with a smile Baeryn greeted Doctor Sthilg.

"Well hello Commander!" Baeryn was was almost certain the doctor had seen enough of her while David was unconscious, but this time she came baring good news.

" Hello there Baeryn how are you thisss fine day. Is David taking hisss pillssss " the lizard asked as he looked up from the main desk where he'd been collecting some paperwork.

Baeryn held both hands in surrender, "He claims he doesn't need them but I do what I can to get him to take them." She laughed lightly approaching the desk he sat at.

" That'sss good. Now, what can i do for you my dear?" The gorn inquired.

"Well, " Baeryn started. She slowly lifted her hand to rest it on her lower abdomen. "I was sick a few days ago, when David was...unconscious. I assumed it was stress making me sick but then Heather told me I was pregnant. At first I wasn't ready for anyone to know, especially not until I told David."

A smile spread over the gorn's face. " Congratualationsss my dear. I take it you're here for a checkup?" he inquired.

Baeryn returned his smile with a bright one of her own. "Yes I am actually."

" Well, my dear let'sss get you on a biobed and take a look. Any painsss or crampsss?" The lizard inquired.

"No sir. I've had an issue with my appetite but the sickness has subsided." Baeryn sat on a biobed.

" Well, let'sss take a look." Sthilg said as his arm transformed into its scanning mode. Slowloy running it over her belly he smiled as the results ame in. " Your in luck my dear everything'sss looking good."

The hybrids smiles was beaming, "Your sure? My emotions feel more...controlled lately? I thought for sure it would be the opposite but my abilities have also been easier to handle as well. Could that be the side affect of the pregnancy?"

" Indeed it mossst likely isss my dear. Heightened physssic, empathic abilitiesss are a common ssside effect from pregnancny. " He said calmly as he jotted a few things down on the padd.

"Do we know anything about El-Aurian children? What I should expect? I'm sure there has been cross breeds between betazoids and El-Aurians before...there shouldn't be any issues right?" Baeryn's voice took on a bit of a nervous tone.

" I know a little my dear. Everything isss looking good, but i would like to give you a sssmall does of El-Aurian pheromonesss it ssshould help eassse up the early days of morning sssicknessssss. " The gorn said as he picked up a hypo sray and removed the empty storage canister.

"Is that all it will do?" She asked.

The gorn nodded. " I've been doing this for nearly two hundred yearsss my dear. I wouldn't give you anything that isn't sssafe."

"Oh! I trust you Sthlig! Any kind of medication just makes me weary is all."

" I underssstand my dear. I'll try and keep medication as minimum as possssssible. " The gorn said as he walked to the medical replicator. " Have you and David thought of namesss?" He inquired.

Baeryn chuckled shyly, “We have actually! We decided that if it’s a girl we’re going to name her after David’s grandmother. Samanthanna. Ana for short. What do you think?”

" Sssoundsss like a wonderful name. Have you thought of a name if it'sss a boy?" The gorn inquired.

The hybrid hesitated, "No, not yet." Baeryn knew if there was anyone she should be forthcoming with it was the doctor. Digging up the past was just never easy for her but mustering all the courage this new pregnancy gave her Baeryn added, "When I was seventeen I had a miscarriage. Right before I joined Starfleet. The doctors weren't able to tell me what happened exactly, they chalked it up to my emotions being too unstable and overwhelming the fet- I mean child. That baby was a boy." Baeryn held her stomach.


" Oh i'm sssorry my dear forgive me i ssshould have checked your file." The gorn said with a look of pain on his face. " I know how much it hurtsss. My own daughter wasss ssstill born."

“I’m sorry for your loss Sthilg… do you have any other children?”

" Jussst my Alicia and her children." The gorn said with a slight smile forming on his face.

"I'm glad you found her." Baeryn returned his smile with a small one of her own. "I guess that makes your a grandpa doesn't it?!"

" Indeed and i intend to do my bessst to help her and her husssband raissse my grandchildren right. Connor is a bright little ssspark. Don't know what i did in my life before he came around." The gorn replied warmly.

“How old is Conner? I take it you spend all your free time with him?” She inquired with a smile. “Are you excited for the new baby? Alicia is due soon right?”

" Conner is around a year and a half and i ssspend as much free time with him asss i can. The new baby is due very sssoon and i am very excited to meet them. I'd be lying if i wasssn't worried. " The gorn said as a bleep from the computer made him look round.

" Ah sssome more good newsss. " He said looking over the results. " Everything looking good. jussst need to give you the pheramone injection."

Baeryn held her stomach and nodded okay to the injection. "For the next check up, will be able to see her? Can I bring David with me?"

" Yes to both questionsss my dear." the gorn replied as he gently placed the hypospray on her belly and injected the liquid. " and were done." he said with a smile.

"Thank you Sthilg. For everything you've done lately." Baeryn placed her hand on the doctors forearm. She could never repay the gorn for all he had done for her, directly and indirectly but, she would try. "If there's anything I can ever do for you please, don't hesitate to ask."

" I'll keep that in mind. " The gorn said giving her a warm smile. " Now light duty only young lady. Other than that your free to go."

Baeryn slid off the bio bed wearing a bright smile as she said "Enjoy the rest of your day Commander." and headed for the exit.
