The emotions surrounding her pregnancy caused Baeryn to feel so full of life and love she was too impatient to not share everything she could with David. After her check up with Commander Sthilg and learning everything was just as it should be she half dragged David down the hall towards Sick bay.

"I have another surprise for you." Baeryn blurted out excitedly.

"Another one?!" He asked with a laugh. "Baer, you are getting dangerously close to spoiling me!"

Baeryn wrinkled her nose. "I have zero shame in spoiling you in anyway I am able. But, if you don't wannnttt your surprise..." Her voice trailed off and she shrugged her shoulders all while smiling at David as she lead the way.

David laughed and spoke up. "Oh, no no no! I most DEFINITELY would like this new surprise that you have for me!" He pulled her into a hug, there in the middle of the corridor, and kissed her.

The hybrid giggled as she allowed David to pull her to him. After returning his kiss she said, "I love you."

David beamed at her. Leaning in, he rubbed the tip of his nose to hers. "I love you too." Then, with a happy sigh, he loosened his hold on her. "Now, you said something about a surprise?" He gave her a playful smirk as he spoke.

"Yes I did. This way please!" Baeryn took David's hand and led him around the corner to the entrance of the medical bay. When the doors swooshed open Baeryn tugged David inside and immediately started scanning for the gorn.

David was a little apprehensive to reenter sickbay, however, he figured it had to do with the baby, seeing Baeryn so excited.

Said gorn was in fact clearly visible a disposable apron on with a mop in hand as he was giving the floor a clean. Noting the door's opening he gave the pair a warm smile. " Hello, there you two. How are thingsss?" He enquired in his warm voice.

"They couldn't be better." Baeryn noted the commanders current attire and the mop in his hand. "Cleaning day?" She asked with a chuckle.

" Everyday isss cleaning day in here my dear. If you've ssserved on a klingon ssship you'll never missssss a chance to clean. " The gorn said guessing what they were here for. Hanging up his apron and putting the mop bucket to one side he lead the way to one of the wardrooms.

Baeryn pulled David along by the hand, "I'll remember that the next time one of my ensigns cant find anything to do to keep themselves busy." She joked.

David chuckled. "You can be such a taskmaster, my love."

" Take a ssseat." the gorn said to Baeryn as he tapped the biobed as he begun collecting a few instruments.

Baeryn did as in structed, hoping up onto the biobed and laying down on her back.

David moved next to Baeryn, after she laid down on the biobed. He was grinning and starting to grow excited.

" Pleassse roll up your ssshirt my dear." the gorn said as he added some gell to the scanner before moving it slowly over her belly. I took him a short while before he smiled as a rapid heartbeat sound began to echo in the small room. " There it isss." he said happily.

David's loving gaze at Baeryn suddenly spun to the screen, his eyes went wide, misting over and his mouth went from jaw-dropping open, to a growing wide grin. "That's...That's...."

Grabbing David's hand Baeryn gave it a squeeze, she was so filled with joy she could barely form words. The beating heartbeat of their child was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard, so beautiful she was afraid to speak and miss a single second of it.

Finally she spoke sweetly, her eyes never leaving David's face "That's our baby's heartbeat."

David's smile was so bright, it could but a pulsar to shame. Reaching over, he wrapped his arms around Baeryn and hugged her warmly. He then gave her a kiss before whispering in her ear. "Thank you, beloved."

The gorn smiled at the happy couple. It never didn't fail to make him happy at seeing the joy of newborn life. Tapping a few buttons he brought up a holographic image of the fetus. It still didn't look humanoid and was still the size of a blueberry, but he was sure the pair would love to see their unborn child.

When the image appeared, David's eyes moved right to it, as he held Baeryn’s hand to his chest. A few tears of joy started to slowly fall down his cheeks. "It's beautiful!" He whispered, not wanting to disturb the energy of the room. Looking over at Sthilg, he asked cautiously, "It's...healthy, yes?"

Baeryn looked in awe at the hologram. It was still so small...barely there, but the heartbeat sounded strong as it still resonated in the room. David's question peeked her own curiosity as she too looked to the gorn.

The gorn gave a reassuring smile as he looked over the results. " Everything'sss looking fine. It looking like it'sss taking after it'sss dad quite a bit judging by the forming tissssssuesss."

"How can you tell, from just that beautiful little speck?" David asked, not challenging Sthilg's competency, just curious.

" Tissssssue readingsss my boy. When you've been doing thisss for asss long asss i have you can ssstart ssseeing patternsss." The gorn explained as he brought up the list of the forming tissue proteins.

"Did you just call our baby a 'speck'?" Baeryn teased.

Looking back at Baeryn, he grinned sheepishly. "I did say beautiful first!" Turning his eyes back to the holographic image, he added. "That is the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen."

Laughing Baeryn did them same, instantly mesmerized by the little bean in her tummy. "Thank you for this Doc."

" I've done nothing my dear. I'm a bald chicken pushing a few buttonsss. " The gorn joked as he saved the data. " Now i want you on light work young lady adn i want you to attend all your appointmentsss and checkupsss. If sssomething feelsss wrong don't hesitate to call me." He said in his friendly manner.

"Oh, don't worry, Doc," David replied with a grin. "Now that I'm on medical leave, I'll make sure she takes it easy." He gave Baeryn a playful smirk as he spoke.

Baeryn gave David a disgruntled look. "Hmmm." She said with a huff and sat up pulling her shirt down. "I'll come see you if anything feels out of the ordinary, I promise."

" My door will alwaysss be open." The old gorn said from his seat as he watched the two of them leave.

David wrapped his left arm around behind Baeryn's lower back, he was giddy with excitement. While he knew the baby couldn't hear him, he desperately wanted to get Baeryn home, so he could talk and sing to it, through her belly.

Baeryn looked back over her shoulder and waved goodbye to the gorn as David led them out. She was over the moon with how perfect this moment had been and what the couple was able to share.

The gorn smiled as he watched the pair leave until he was alone in his office. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small ancient memory crystal. Inserting it into his wrist computer the lizard eyes teared up slightly at the scan of the daughter he never had. He still missed them even to this day. The old gorn pressed a button closing the door so his staff wouldn't see his tears.
