Sapphire and Scott's quarters.


Scott doubled checked the itinerary. Go out to eat, take Sapphire dancing, walk through the arboretum, pop the question. It was hard keeping a secret from Sapphire especially since they shared quarters but somehow, he had managed. He checked again to make sure the small velvet box was in his pocket... it was as was the emerald cut diamond ring he planned to give Sapphire later tonight. However right now he sat on the couch and waited for Sapphire to get ready. As far as she knew they were going to eat at Guillo's a new restaurant on the Elysium. He was dressed in black slacks, a garnet colored shirt with a black sports jacket and black shoes.

Sapphire exited their bedroom, dressed in a dark red dress, which ended just above her knees and was held up by thin straps. She wore mating thin heals on her feet. "So are we ready?" she asked as she finished affixing her earrings.

Scott stood up and smiled at her. "We are ready sweetheart, and may I add you look absolutely gorgeous." As he moved to the door and opened it, allowing Sapphire to exit their quarters first.

Sapphire smiled and as she passed him, brushed her lips across his cheek. "Thank you handsome."

Scott smiled as she passed, then cast his eyes upward and said a quick prayer that everything went as planned tonight.

Sapphire linked her arm with his as they moved down to the turbolift. "So this is nice, just the two of us, having dinner out"

"I could not agree more Sapphire. I am really looking forward to eating at this new place. It has gotten rave reviews.." Scott answered as they walked along.

Smiling she leaned against him as they waited for the lift. "Its going to be lovely to take a break and not think about work."

"Amen to that darling." Scott whispered, giving her a quick kiss as the lift doors opened to take them to their destination.

They rode the lift the requisite deck and Sapphire was happy just to stand with him, enjoying being there.

The ride was short and quick and they soon were at the restaurant. "I hope it's as good as I've heard." Scott whispered to Sapphire.

"don't care, as long as I am with you" She whispered back.

"Sapphire, I feel the same way when I am with you." Scott answered, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

They stood in line and were soon escorted to a table. "Very nice." She said softly.

Scott smiled across the table at the woman who had captured his heart. "It is nice." He agreed. "Would you like some wine?"

"Yes that would be lovely" Sapphire said with a smile.

Scott nodded and called the waiter over and ordered a bottle of red wine. A moment later the bottle arrived (nicely chilled) and poured them both a glass. "To the prettiest woman in this galaxy or any other. Sapphire Morgan."

She blushed. "Charmer" Sapphire said as she clinked her glass to his. "To the best looking man I know, Scott Gregory"

"You flatter me Sapphire. Have you looked at the menu and decided what you would like to have."

"Hmm yes, the Risotto looks good" Sapphire said with a small smile.

"That does look good, but I think I'm going to go with the shrimp scampi." Scott replied with a smile of his own.

They ordered their meals and a comfortable silence fell over the table as they sat there together.

As they ate, Scott reached his hand out and placed it atop Sapphire's. "I love you Sapphire Morgan. Every day we're together I love you more."

She turned her hand so their fingers tangled "I love you back Scott" she said with a true smile.

He smiled broadly at her. "I thought about us going dancing after we eat but how do you feel about a walk through the arboretum?"

"Sounds wonderful" Sapphire said "And a perfect idea"

Scott felt a wave of relief flood through him. "Thanks, I try."

"You succeed" Sapphire replied with a smile.

They finished the meal and Scott left a healthy tip, then hand in hand they got on a lift and headed to the arboretum.

Sapphire walked with Scott, her fingers linked with his as she pressed to his side.

Entering the arboretum, Scott and Sapphire meandered along, looking and admiring all the different flowers and bushes until he found a secluded bench they could sit on. Let's sit here and just take in all the beauty around us." He said giving her hand a soft squeeze.

Nodding, She sat beside him, resting her head on his shoulder. It was lovely to sit there with him.

Scott looped an arm around Sapphire's shoulders and they sat in majestic silence as they admired the beauty around them before Scott broke the silence and said softly. " Sapphire, I have something I want to ask you."

"hmm?" Sapphire asked softly. "What is it?"

He slid off the bench and got down on one knee. Then he began to talk, his voice full of emotion. "Sapphire Morgan, Love is not a word to say. Love is not a game to play. Love doesn’t start in April and end in May. Love is yesterday, tomorrow, and forever. Will you be mine for all eternity and do me the honor of becoming my wife?" He finished by opening the small box and showing Sapphire the ring inside.

Sapphire stared for a moment before sliding from the bench and wrapping her hands around his and leaning in and kissing him deeply. "yes" she whispered when the kiss ended.

Scott sighed in relief as Sapphire said yes. He slid the ring onto her finger, "Now that looks good." He whispered before he returned her kiss and wrapping his arms around her in a hug.

Sapphire snuggled into his arms with a smile as they sat there on the grass. She barely looked at the ring, content to cuddle into his arms.

Scott held Sapphire close, as they sat together. He had never been happier. "I i know I've told you before Sapphire, "But I love you, now and for all time."

"And I love you the same" She whispered. "I cannot imagine life without you."

He turned her head to him and kissed her gently. "I feel the same way about you Sapphire honey."

Sapphire smiled. "You know, this night has been perfect."

Scott smiled brilliantly at her, "I could not agree more. A good dinner and nice stroll and the ultimate ending to a perfect evening. Thank you Sapphire."

"no I should be thanking you" She replied as she leaned against him.

"Nonsense." He replied. "I have an idea, let's thank each other. Cause we're a team."

"That works" Sapphire smiled at him.

"It works because we work."

She smiled. "Indeed we do love"

He hugged her to him, " I love you so much Sapphire." He paused and looked t her. "Is your mother going to be okay with this?"

Sapphire nodded "Yes, she will be very okay with this"

Scott heaved a sigh of relief at hearing what Sapphire said. "Oh, that is great." As he hugged her again.

"And your family?"

"Are you kidding? My family will be ecstatic Sapphire."

"Then we should call them and make them all happy" Sapphire said with a smile.

"Now that is what I call an excellent idea." Scott answered with a smile. "Let's go and give them all the happy news." Scott finished as he took Sapphire's hand in his as they prepared to leave the arboretum. "We can celebrate some more in private." He said with a wink.

Sapphire laughed "A perfect end to a perfect evening"

"Sapphire my love, you said a mouthful and you are so right." Scott grinned happily.
