A smile was on Sthilg's face as he layed the plates at his table. Family dinner. Two words he'd never think he'd have. Now he had one.

A smile formed on his face as he looked at the neatly set table before going to retrieve the food.

Deanna smiled as she appeared from the kitchen area having checked on the food. “You certainly set that up quickly” She paused to give Sthilg a kiss on the cheek. “Are you comfortable with telling Alicia and Savar about us this evening?”

" Nothing would make me happier Imzadi. " he said with a smile as he felt her lips against his scales.

“I’m happy to hear that Imzadi” Deanna smiled the biggest smile yet then headed back to the food.

Making their way home together Alicia looked at Savar curiously. “Have you noticed anything different about my mother lately? She’s been acting like... well, like a woman in love in my opinion.”

Savar gave a sideways glance to Alicia, a bemused look coming to his face. "I have Alicia. I believe the human term is head over heels in love and the subject of her emotional state is Dr. Sthilg."

Alicia smiled and nodded. “Exactly what I was thinking, maybe they’ll mention it at dinner. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

Arriving at their quarters the smell of food met them as they walked through the door. “Mmmm now that smells devine!” Alicia smiled at her mother and Sthilg before walking over to Connor and N’Vea giving them both a hug and a kiss.

" Hello, my dearsss. " Sthilg said as he watched his family. " Fish pie, Vulcan vegetable sausages and rice." he said lifting the led of the dishes.

Savar bent over and picked up N[Vea as well as Connor holding them both as he lightly bounced on his feet, bringing smiles and giggles from the children.

Alicia grinned Savar was a wonderful father, and husband. She looked towards Sthilg “That sounds wonderful father.”

Savar smiled as he looked at Alicia and emotions bubbled to the surface. She was his better half in so many ways. Alicia was a fantastic mother and wife attentive and loving. He would be lost without her.

"Indeed, the smells are quite provocative for food." He added.

" Well it is family dinner." Sthilg said smiling. " Ssspeaking of family me and Deanna have sssomething to tell you." the old reptile said as he offred his hand to Deanna.

Alicia looked towards Savar then back at Sthilg and her mother as Deanna took Sthilg’s hand. “We had a feeling you might.”

Deanna grinned. “I never could hide anything from those keen senses of yours could I?” She looked at Sthilg then back at Alicia and Savar. “Sthilg and I are very much in love. I’ve decided to stay onboard for the foreseeable future to get our relationship off to a good start.”

Sthilg walked over and gripped Deanna's hand. " I've asssked my Imzadi to move in with me. " Sthilg said beaming.

“Seriously!?” Alicia looked surprised before stepping up and giving both of them a hug. “That’s so wonderful, I’m happy for both of you!!”

Savar placed Connor and N'Vea back on the floor before stepping over to Sthilg and Deanna. "Let me offer my sincere congratulations to you both as well. That is most satisfactory news."

Deanna smiled the biggest smile yet. “Thank you, both of you! Neither of us thought this would ever happen but I’m very glad that it has.”

“So am I mum” Alicia smiled as she gave her mother another hug. “You’ve been alone for a while, it’s nice to see you so happy! And you too father.”

I am very happy for the both of you." Savar added. "You both make a nice couple and look happy together."

" Thank you both of you." The gorn said with a smile.

Alicia looked at Sthilg. “I know my dad would have liked you, he would have wanted mum to move on with her life.”

" I'm glad little one. I jussst hope he underssstandsss i'm not trying to replace him." the lizard said as he picked up the utensils to start serving the food.

“I’m sure he would understand father” Alicia smiled as she poured out a small chilled water for everyone to accompany their food and there were other choices of drinks as well.

"Is there anything I can do to assist you?" Savar asked Deanna and Sthilg.

Deanna offered her son-in-law a smile. “No, but thank you Savar. Everything is ready now so just make yourself comfortable at the table.” She smiled as she watched Alicia interacting with Connor and N’Vea as she fetched them over to the table. “Thank you Savar, for making my daughter happy again. There was a time I thought I’d never see her this happy again.”

Savar looked to where Alicia was sheparding Connor and N'Vea to the table and then back to Deanna. "Alicia is a wonderful wife and mother. In addition to being an excellent counselor. If I have succeeded in making her happy it is only a small portion of what she has done for me and the children." He paused for a moment, "Loneliness is a terrible thing, Deanna. I no longer feel alone. Alicia has accepted me and loves me for who and what I am. There is nothing I would not do to make and keep her happy."

Deanna smiled. “That’s what makes you special Savar, others may not see what Alicia sees in you but I know you make her feel loved and treasured. Now, let’s sit down and eat before it all goes cold.”

Savar nodded, "I do love and treasure Alicia and I know where Alicia gets her compassion and care from Deanna. You have raised a most amazing daughter." He finished as he sat down at the table.

Deanna offered a warm smile and a hug. “Thank you Savar.”

Alicia grinned. “Are you buttering up my mother Imzadi?” She couldn’t help but giggle.

Savar turned to Alicia, "Buttering up? I am merely stating the facts, Alicia." He replied in his typical dry, dead pan manner before waiting a beat and adding "Perhaps just a small amount." As the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile.

" Eat your food ssson or it'sss going to get cold." Sthilg said with a grin as he finished dishing out the food

Savar nodded his head, turning to look at Alicia and then letting his gaze take in Connor and N'Vea before swinging to Deanna and Sthilg. An old human saying coming to his mind as he looked at his loved ones. * I am the luckiest man in the universe, surrounded by people I love and who love me.*

Alicia smiled as she tucked into her food, letting out an approving “Mmmm” as she ate.

" Glad you like it. How'sss the sssausssage Sssavar?" The gorn inquired. Most vegetables all tasted the same to the gorn.

"They are most delicious. An extremely pleasing taste and excellent blend of smokey and mild. My compliments to the chef."

" Good to know if my medical carer fallsss through i can start up a vulcan eatery." Sthilg joked with a wink to his grandkids.

Alicia grinned. “Sounds like a good fall back plan”

"Indeed. I am sure you could find a job as a chef at any number of upper level restaurants or even the interplanetary cruise ships." Savar added as he finished eating a sausage.

Sthilg smiled at his family. " Oh by the way. Federation intelligence may be calling sssome of you in the upcoming weeksss. " He said ressuringly.

Alicia coughed and looked at her father in surprise. “Federation intelligence! What would they want with us?”

" Given i'm taking over Captain T'hirrair ssseat on the medical council intelligence needsss to make sssure i'm not a threat to the federation. i would technically be in the chain of command. " Sthilg replied calmly.

"A logical step but misguided Father. Your years of service in Starfleet and to the federation speak for themselves. You are above reproach." Savar stated firmly. "If Federation Intelligence comes to speak to me, I will tell them precisely that."

" Go easssy on them Sssavar there jusssst doing their jobsss." The gorn said warmly to his son in law.

"Perhaps Father. I do believe their time and efforts could and would be more wisely used pursuing another avenue then investigating you." Savar replied.

“I tend to agree father” Alicia smiled. “But I will humour their questions.” She paused for a moment. “You won’t have to leave the ship, will you?”

" No my dear. Captain T'hirrair is retiring at the end of the next tour of duty. Even then i can do the job from a ssstarssship." The gorn said as he paushed for a seconed. " Though maybe we ssshould ssstart looking into getting a home. "

"If you decide to look into purchasing a home, you should set parameters on what you and Deanna want in and from a home." Savar offered.

" Well, Imzadi what would you be after?" Sthilg said looking over to Deanna.

Deanna had until now been sitting listening to the conversations with interest. “That’s a good question” She paused. “It would love something secluded, with a garden and perhaps a sea view. We must, of course, have room for our children and grandchildren to come and stay.”

" A nice place in the pacific northwest, free from the hussstle and bussstle yet ssstill close to ssstarfleet command?" Sthilg suggested.

Deanna nodded. “Perhaps, I haven’t been to Earth in years, you’ll have to show me.”

" I'm sssure we can find sssomething to sssuit usss all. What do you two think?" the gorn inquired to his daughter and son in law.

Alicia, ever the optimist nodded enthusiastically. “I think that’s a wonderful idea father. Just bear in mind that we Betazoids tend to prefer living where there’s less minds to block out. Having to keep mental defences up against strong emotional input all day long can be difficult to maintain in the long run.”

" I'm sssure we can find sssomething to make usss all happy. Will need to have a large library." He said looking around at his massive book collection.

"A home in the woods near a lake would seem to be ideal." Savar added. "Perhaps with a dock for a small boat to take out on the lake."

" Sssoundsss wonderful." The gorn said as he finished his food and stood up. " Now i have a ginger cake for desssert." he happily said heading off into his kitchen.

“It certainly does at that” Deanna nodded. “Thank you for the suggestion Savar.”

Savar inclined his head slightly, "You are most welcome Deanna. I hope it was a useful one."

“You’d be surprised just how useful Imzadi” Alicia smiled as she took hold of Savar’s arm and kissed him on the cheek. “That would be my idea of heaven too.”

"That please me Alicia, a great deal. I now have my search parameters." Savar answered as he returned Alicia's kiss.

" I'll set the parimitersss and sssee what the computer can find." the gorn said returning with a warm chocolate cake.

“Mmm chocolate cake!” Alicia grinned. “That looks and smells wonderful.”

Sthilg smiled as he divided out the cake among his family. Life was more than good.
