Mission:
Rejoinder
Location: Naxea/S'hib's Quarters; USS Elysium
Timeline: MD 03 0730 Hours
999 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure
Naxea stretched, having actually been able to sleep in as her body rested against S'hib's large body. She had scheduled some time off in order to spend it with S'hib. She turned in his embrace to face him.
"Hey," S'hib said in a hushed tone, closing the book he had been reading as he shifted his weight slightly to the side. "You're up early..." He added with a soft smile, his free arm gently brushing her hair aside, tucking the loose strands over her ear.
Naxea looked over at the chronometer and then back at S'hib. "0730 is not early for me, you know that," she nudged him. "What are you reading?"
"Well, when you said you were going to have a lie-in I assumed you meant no earlier than seven forty-five." He grinned, nudging his chin over the top of her head. "As for the book, It's... about various studies done on interspecies hybrids within the Alpha quadrant, mostly just trying to wrap my head around it really..."
Naxea looked at him. She admired his interest and care he had for their growing baby. She already had a slight bump that was easily hidden by her uniform of loose-fitting clothing. "Well, I think this would be new ground as there hasn't ever been a Sequus hybrid has there?
"To tell you the truth, I had already come to terms with the prospect of never being a father, I didn't think it was possible..." S'hib mumbled, a repressed sadness taking its last breath as he moved his hand down to her stomach, holding her as gently as he could. "The red sea has blessed me..." He exhaled as a wave of joy washed over him.
"And now I have two of you; I didn't even deserve the first." He smiled, blinking the tears from his eyes as he kissed her forehead.
Naxea looked at him, fighting back the urge of making a joke. "Stop doing this to yourself," she replied. "You're a good officer, husband, and person. Of course you deserve me. I know I didn't make it easy but you've never failed to impress me and have always been there for me," she recalled when she had lost her arm in that fatal first contact mission.
"I'd be truly lost without you." He said softly as he heaved his weight up, sitting up with tired and lazy muscles, dragging the sheets with him as he curled his neck around to look at her; pausing to admire her.
"Yes you would," she teased, smiling at him. "So," she began as she thought. "Isn't your family on Earth?"
"Yeah, they live with the rest of my birth herd at the Sequus naturist reserve, why'd you ask?" He smiled, shifting more of his weight around inside their dish-like bed.
"Since we're both on leave, why not go and visit them?" she asked, looking at him. "I am sure they would want to see you."
He sat motionless for a moment, his eyes flicking about the sheets as his mind ran through the various scenarios now popping into existence one by one; what they would say, what they would ask... how Naxea would deal with his native peoples' habits, oh dear he thought almost aloud.
"I haven't told them yet," He smiled, gently wetting his lips with his tongue. "Fr'ee is going to obsess over you once she finds out though..."
"Who is Fr'ee? And you haven't even told your family about me?" she asked, pushing herself up onto her elbows as the sheets barely managed to cling to her body as she shifted.
"I've told them about you, of course, just not..." He said, nodding his head towards her waist. "You know... It didn't feel right to just send a recording," he added, pausing slightly as he looked down at the sheets, almost embarrassed at what he was saying next.
"I wanted to tell Fr'ee in person, see my mother's reaction..." He fell silent after this, just nervously picking and scratching at his own fingers. "She was... disappointed, before, when I told them I probably wouldn't be having children."
Naxea reached over and caressed his face as she pulled herself up more. "S'hib, your mother should never be disappointed in you. And if she isn't proud of the fact that you are going to be a father then she's not much of a mother."
"It's... complicated," He said softly, leaning into her hand with closed eyes. "But if they're not happy with just one child... least I will be." He smiled, finally opening his eyes as he reached up and held her hand before kissing it softly.
Naxea smiled at him. "Alright, let's get going then," she said as she pushed herself up to get out of the bed as the blanket fell away from her.
He sat there glancing over her body in silence for a moment, letting out an involuntary snort. "Well, you've got ten seconds to get out of this bed or we won't be going anywhere..."
Letting out a laugh, Naxea turned back at S'hib, grinning. "Ten seconds is a lifetime for a Starfleet Marine," she jested, as she sat on the edge.
"Ah, so that's why you started dating a fleeter," He grinned while crawling over to her legs dangling down the inside of their bowl-shaped bed. "You wanted a few extra seconds of foreplay..." he added as he moved his hands over her thighs, teasing at the idea pulling them apart.
"Nah, I just felt sorry for you," she teased back, smiling at him as she allowed him to pull her closer.
"Alright, get out..." He huffed, unable to fully commit to the act as he frowned over a smile.
"Fine. Tease," she chuckled as she moved to get out of the bed.
"Me?!" He squealed in protest before letting a loud snort.
Naxea only gave him a look as she got out of the bed and headed for the lavatory to start getting ready.

I was actually blushing when I read this post. Oh. My. Stars! It's like our very own Star Trek Skin-A-Max "After Dark" channel over here. You know the one? It's on the remote, somewhere in the 900 series channels. Never mind; its not important. And I've only heard about from others.
Nice to see a couple of the warriors getting down. I like the idea that a Sequus Naturist Reserve is on Earth. Sounds like a nude beach to me. Nothing wrong with that at all. Great for the sunscreen lotion industry. And nice to see this side of the Colonel. Lookin forward to more. Thanks for the read!
