ON

Standing in her little kitchen, Lia held the chicken breasts over the beaten egg. Reading the recipe she dipped them in the egg and rolled them in the bowl of breadcrumbs, Lia then placed them into the deep fat fryer and moved to checked the rice. *Looking good, hope Gary likes Katsu Chicken Curry*, she thought. The tea house doors opened and Gary walked in, "Gary, grab yourself a drink and sit down. I've got dinner on and the Sake is in the fridge cooling off, if you want to change first feel free to do so." Readjusting her Kimono sleeves, Lia now stirred the special curry sauce. "Don't take to long love, this food is almost ready."

Gary hears Lia but he first walked into the kitchen and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Hi love." he said as he sniffed the air, "Smells divine. What is it? No, don't tell me, I want to be surprised. I think I'll wait on the drink until we both can sit down and enjoy dinner." He gave her another quick kiss. "Going to change, I'll be right back." he finishes as he heard off in the direction of their bedroom to change.

Leaning into the kiss, Lia simply smiled. "Ok hon, you got about five minuets before I put this out. The sauce needs a little more and the meat is not quite there yet." She went back to cooking as Gary headed off to change, a crafty grin now crossed her lips. On his bed Lia had left a Kimono, a male Kimono with all the pieces to go with it. It had taken her hours to find the right one, a dark blue with a small Dragon on the left breast as a insignia. "Ok Gary! Dinner is served!" She placed the rice around one end of the plate then put the chicken inside the back of rice, the curry sauce was then gently poured from the other end so as to lap the bottom of both chicken end rice. *Looking good* she decided.

Smiling happily Gary entered their bedroom and stopped short as he stared at the articles of clothing on the bed. "What the?????" He softly exclaimed and he drew closer and picked up the clothing. It was a kimono, a male kimono to be sure but a kimono nonetheless and it was abundantly clear to him that Lia wanted him to wear it. He had to admit it was beautiful. It was a dark blue with a small dragon on the left breast. "Your wish is my command, Lia." He whispered as he began to change. Moments later he had changed and stood admiring himself in the mirror. *Man, this looks good.* He thought just as Lia's voice called to him, saying dinner was ready. "Coming!" he yelled back exiting the bedroom as he did. Seconds later he was in the kitchen, standing before Lia, "Well? What do you think?"

"Gary San, my husband looks every bit a handsome man any woman would wish to marry. In short, you look great." She walked around him and smiled, "So tell me, how does it feel and does it fit?" Lia now pointed to the table, "Oh yeah, dinner is served."

Gary smiled brilliantly, "Thanks sweetheart.: He answered as Lia walked around him, "It feels great, so soft and light. It fits perfectly! You did a great job in sizing it, More importantly thank you for getting this for me. I love your thoughtfulness." He looked at the table, "Dinner looks great!, so let's not keep it waiting." He observed.

"Well I thought as we live in a Tea House, we might as well live the lifestyle. And the clothes along with the Katsu Chicken Curry was my hamfisted way of asking you, hope your not to disappointed?" She poured out some cold Sake as she spoke, then signalling to Gary she sat down waiting for his response.

"I can't find any flaw in your thought process Lia. Very logical a Vulcan would be proud. " He shook his head, "Disappointed? Absolutely not. I love the kimono and more importantly that you wanted me to share your love of the culture." Gary caught Lia's signal to sit down, so he did just that, "I know I said this before, but this smells divine and looks amazing! You out did yourself Lia."

Lia blushed, "I went looking for something special, and this chicken dish seemed the best bet. I mean I can cook it and I know it tastes ok, I cheated by practising." She raised her glass, "Here's to us, what ever this universe throws in our direction."

Gary raised his glass. "This certainly qualifies as special." He noted. "As for you practicing, your secret is safe. with me." He clinked his glass against hers. "To us as we go through life together always united never feeling alone."

Taking her chopsticks, Lia now breaks the chicken breast and dips it in the rice and curry sauce. Looking at Gary, she asks him a question. "Do you ever regret getting re-married? I mean not just me but with anyone, I was wondering if it ever crossed your mind?" Taking a sip of Sake Lia smiles, "I've never been married before, but I could never think about having another spouse unless the first died and requested me to find happiness." She knew they'd had this talk before, but Lia wanted to move their little family forward and so needed to know just how Gary felt about her.

Gary stared at her, he placed his chopsticks to the side,(he could never get the hang of them) "No, no I don't regret getting remarried. It's never crossed my mind. I like being able to come to my quarters and having someone waiting to see me, someone who cares about me, someone who I can talk to and confide in. Someone who is my better half. Someone who even if we argue over some topic, I know loves me and will support me just like I will her. That someone is you Lia. I have never regretted getting married to you." A grin came to his face as he said the next, "As for you finding happiness after I die. News flash you're coming with me."

"Will you get serious for a moment, I'm thinking of seeing the CMO after this mission. And I need to know if you want to add to our group, our family." Lia smiled as she spoke, "So I'm asking you outright, do you want a baby?" She looked down at her plate as she finished, with luck she would get the all clear and she could give Gary the one thing he really wanted. His own child, one he could help to raise and shape into a fantastic adult.

"Were you sleeping through the first half of my answer? I told you I don't regret getting remarried, not for a second. I was pretty serious there." A smile appeared and grew on his face? A baby? I'd love for us to have a baby. Question is do you want a baby? The pitter patter of little feet. and everything that goes with it."

Lia now looked Gary straight in the eye's, "I would love to have a baby, so I can prove to myself that I'm not my parents. Plus I want to be a mum, who wouldn't want to have that special someone."

Gary took Lia's hand in his, "Lia, you don't have to prove anything. You are not your parents. You are a warm, loving, intelligent, beautiful woman. You are nothing like your parents." He smiled as he continued, "You will make a wonderful mom er mum. No doubt in my mind."

Glancing down at the table, Lia just sat looking. "I only knew how not to trust men and other people, all because of what they did to me. I need and want to give someone a better life than I had, and I want to do it with someone I love and trust completely."

Continuing to hold Lia's hand, Gary spoke softly, "You've moved past them Lia. You've proven you are better than they could ever be. So, you go see the Doc and we can get to having a baby. To that point, computer play You're having My Baby by Paul Anka with Odia Coates." An instant later the song filled their quarters.

You're havin' my baby
What a lovely way of sayin' how much you love me
Havin' my baby
What a lovely way of sayin' what you're thinkin' of me

I can see it, your face is glowin'
I can see it in your eyes, I'm happy you know it
That you're havin' my baby
You're the woman I love and I love what it's doin' to ya
Havin' my baby

You're a woman in love and I love what's goin' through ya
The need inside you, I see it showin'
Whoa, the seed inside ya, baby, do you feel it growin'?
Are you happy you know it?
That you're havin' my baby

I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me
Havin' my baby
I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me

I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doin' to me
Havin' my baby
I'm a woman in love and I love what's goin' through me

"Your a soppy old sod Gary Taylor, but I wouldn't have you any other way. Now shall we finish this meal and then start the journey together?" She pointed to the bedroom then picked up her chopsticks again, "I hope you've enjoyed this special night so far, we have a lot more to do and get up to." She blew Gary a kiss and smiled, then Lia went back to her food.

Gary chuckled, "That's me, soppy Gary Taylor, who just happens to be very much in love with you Lia." He finished as he picked up his chop sticks. "I need to enjoy this dinner, as I still have a lot of work to do tonight." He finished taking some chicken into his mouth.

Lia looked up at Gary, "We live a fragile life you know, tomorrow is a dark unexplored land. Don't you want to leave someone who'll remember you? Even if it isn't forever?"

"Of course I do Lia. A child is a living testament and I want ours to be the best it can be."

Pushing her empty plate away, Lia glanced at Gary. "Well the start point is us, but we need a green light from the CMO. Plus I need my birth control switched off, I wasn't prepared to risk another unplanned surprise." She stood up and began clearing the table, "Time rules our lives, we only have a limited amount to get things done. I want to get this done, and I think you do to."

" We are all slaves to time Lia and as the saying goes, time waits for no one. So yes, we need to get on this." Gary replied as he stood and began to pick up plates. "Oh, I want this done but done right. I don't want you or the baby to be in any danger. So, see whomever you want to make sure there aren't any dangers to you in getting pregnant. Then we can hit the ground running."

Placing the dishes into the replicator, Lia simply hit the button and watched them disappear. Picking up her Sake, she adjusted her Kimono. "That makes two of us, I have no wish to revisit my last pregnancy or its results." She wandered over to the sofa and sat down, "Once this latest mission is over, I'll get together with the CMO. Guess we'll have to wait until then, if you know what I mean."

Gary nodded at Lia's words. "I have no desire for you to go what you went through previously Lia." he took her hand, "I think that is a good start. Talk with the Doc, make sure everything is a go. Until then we are in a holding pattern." He looked up and spoke, "Computer Play time in a Bottle by Jim Croce." Soon music once again filled the quarters.

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure, and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

As the music played, Gary wrapped his arms around Lia, "I love you very, very much Lia." he whispered as he kissed her cheek and then neck.

Snuggling into Gary, Lia smiled. "I love you just as much, lets go get some practice. That's if you want that is??"

"Mrs. Taylor, I do love the way you think." Gary whispered into Lia's ear.

Standing up, Lia now lead Gary to the bedroom. A small smile graced her lips, the CMO better have good news when she finally gets to see him.

MMMmmm....fried chicken in breadcrumb things....mmmmmmm!!!

Are we absolutely sure that Paul Anka, Neil Diamond and Tom Jones aren't all the same person? 'cause I'm pretty sure its the same guy.

Another loverly scene from "The Taylor's". The kimono bit was good; enjoyed that. Good product placement. And now I want to have some Sake too with my bowl of microwave ramen noodles. The best part was loading the dirty dishes into the replicator and hitting the "destroy" button. #Satisfying

Nice new songs for the children to hear too. Back when they had musicians who played real instruments and not everything came from an expansion port on a personal computer ay? And it seems to me that someone could to a remaster of the Paul Anka/Neil Diamond/ Tom Jones song here and bring it up to the 2020's? It's like what's old is new again.

It's so nice to see "The Taylor's" having a bit of fun. You do need to add a kid, or a pet or a malfunctioning robot though. If y'all need problems in your lives? Or stuff wrecked? Look me up; I'm an expert at complicating other people's lives. With plenty of references too!

Thanks for the read and looking forward to another edition from "The Taylor's" (*) Sponsored by Brillo Hand Creme. 'Softer Hands Slap Better'

Another enjoyable, fun JP, thanks to my talented and creative co-writer Ayesha. She infuses Lia with the characteristics that make her real and believable. Not mention fun to be around. So, a big tip of the hat, to Ayesha and her creativity.

To add a third song to this little hit parade, "It Takes Two, (To Make a Dream Come True)". And this took two people to make it work, so thank you for understanding and going with the flow Jeff. Here's hoping we add to our list of enjoyable JP's.
