== USS Jefferson, Deck 5 ==

The light was low as the group dropped down through the hatch onto the deck plating of deck 5. Red lights flashed but the accompanying alarm was muted. Nothing moved around them.

As Colton hit the deck, he immediately did a 360 degree sweep of the area
He was still not happy about this mission, having to leave his sniper rifle behind, and working close quarters, and with 5 man team, this was not what he was trained for and not well matched to his skill set. "Commander, I think our best bets are the cargo bays and sick bay, as they are the most logical places to gather large numbers of personnel wounded or not," Colton said a hint of urgency in his voice he want to get this done and back top side as quickly as possible.

Katherine climbed down with her medkit and walked towards one of the LCARS panels. "Well now let's see here.." She began to bring the internal sensors online.

Colton pulled the CQB pulse rifle he brought along just in case, and he moved to cover the doctor he felt a large area of floor coated in a sticky substance," ugg what the hell is that, hope it wasn't anybody I know." he said as attempted the scape the substance off of his boot against the bulkhead. As he got in position he heard some faint tapping coming further down the corridor he stared off into the darkness but saw nothing

Katherine observed Colton with the so-called Sticky substance and then she flipped open her tricorder to scan it. "It's some kind protein combined with inorganic salts. Very much like the mucus a snail makes in order to move around."

"So, there a snail like creature that managed to get aboard somehow?" Gami asked, turning to the doctor. She personally hated submergence suits due to their factor in limiting her ability to sense other thoughts. She still had empathy and telepathy abilities but they weren't at full strength, which always took a bit to get used to at first.

"Let's hope some crew just a giant snail-like pet that got loose, cause the alternative is that this ship isn't as intact as we were told." Colt replied as motion down the corridor caught his attention "I don't think we alone doc ya might want to speed things up." Colton replied as took aim in the direction he had seen the motion.

Lia checked the area and noted S/Sgt Renth's unease, "Renth, grab the Doctor and head to the Cargo bay's. But watch your step, I'm not to happy about all this sticky stuff. De Tolly, McKay. Your with me, we're checking out sickbay. With luck the ships Doctor is there and can help with any injured, right now everyone keep in contact and keep your eye's peeled for trouble."

"And check your aim if you have to shoot at something." The hull creaked around them. "A hull breach down here will be many times worse than a hull breach in space. Considering we have the weight of the sea upon us."

"Good point Doc, I don't fancy swimming out of this thing one damn bit." Lia raised her thumb and winked.

"Rodger that," Renth replied with a look on his face at the check your aim comment the said really what part of sniper don't ya understand, as he motioned for the doctor to follow him care making his way down the corridor toward to closest cargo bay weapon at the ready.

Having not been given any specific orders, Gami followed behind Renth. "I got your six," she called as she readied her CQB rifle.

"Copy that gunny," Colton replied as he carefully made his down to the corridor, about 30 meters down he suddenly stopped and dropped to a kneeling position holding his left hand up with a closed fist. "Movement 12 o'clock," he said and no sooner than he finished, two forms emerged from the darkness ahead and at a high rate of speed, Colton barely had time to tell that were humanoid, and with expert precession, he fired two shots from his CAQ rifle, and the crispy form fell to the floor about 4 feet in front of him, "What the hell, no mentions flying spider the size of my freaking head," he said as the examined the now crispy critters

Katherine was too professional to make a scene about the Marine killing the spiders.. it was typical marine, that was for sure. She knelt down and scanned the two spiders.. "Well, they're definitely Arachnids.. The wings are not meant for sustained flight. Mainly to assist in jumping. I think they eat smaller animals and insects, but I have no idea if they are intelligent because someone shot them with a phaser." She noted calmly and ever professionally.

"Ya Welcome to stun the next one we come across doc." Renth replied.

Katherine's tricorder beeped. "Hmm. Interesting, I'm picking up a power signature from the cargo bay close-by."

"Hopefully, we don't run into any more of your, possibly intelligent spiders between here, and there" Renth said as resumed making his way down the corridor weapon at the ready as always

Katherine entered the Cargo Bay and followed the reading. "Hmm.. The Transporter has been activated."

"Oh uh, the old hid in the transporter buffer trick, very dangerous for long periods, I remember reading about this in Montogomery Scott's biography, he and I forget the name of the other officer, crusade their shuttle in the surface of Dyson spare, and he did the same thing, they were in the buffer for a very long time, Scott survived and the other officer didn't, the Enterprise D I think found the shuttle and the spare. " Colton Said

Gami stopped as she looked off into the distance. "I'm sensing people...I think. Mostly I'm picking up feelings of anger and fear." She immedately opened her comm channel to the Chief Security Officer. "Commander, I'm picking up feelings of fear and anger, ma'am."

"Then we better get them out of the pattern buffer, or there won't be much anger and fear to be felt, Sergeant." Katherine stated. "That 'trick' as you put it was inspiration. Designed for two people and one of them still degraded. We need to pull them out of there."

Victor was in sickbay as he was running Engineering tricorder readings over the equipment. “Let me assist.”

Lia entered the sickbay and glanced round, "Ok Lieutenant, what do we have?" She could see some people on Bio beds, but there didn't seem to be anyone tending to them.

"Agreed, Gunny cover my six." Colton said as he made his over the cargo transport control panel, "ok contain boasted to maximum, patten lock established, and...." he said enter commands into the console, a bright shimmer about 10 people appeared.

Katherine spoke. "Quiet.... We're here from the USS Elysium. But we're not alone here. We need to get you to the shuttles."

"Alright, folks let's get moving," Colton said as took point to lead the group to the nearest hanger bay.

The deck platting beneath their feet suddenly shook and there was the horrible sound of grinding metal on stone that rent the air.

"That's our cue to pick up the peace, double-time people," Colton replied now moving at a jog through the corridor heading to the closest shuttle bay

In the sickbay, Lia felt movement under her feet. "Ok people, time to leave. Lets get the hell outta Dodge, like now!"

Katherine moved to a console and began to access the engineering controls. Her hands moved quickly and then found something. There was still some power in the impulse reactors. She then spoke. "I'm transferring what's left in impulse to the structural integrity fields."

"Good thinking doc now let's get to shuttles and get the people outa here." Colton said

Hustling the six people she'd found in sickbay, Lia headed for the R.V. With luck she and her team could get the hell off this coffin of a ship.

Colton and his lot rounded a bend and quickly entered the shuttle" Alight everyone, as many as pack in a shuttle and go." he said as turned to cover the the entrance

Finding herself back at the shuttle, Lia and her group watched as it lifted off. "Damn it!" Pressing her comm badge she now contacted the Elysium, =^="Taylor to Elysium, any chance of another shuttle to clear my survivors? This bucket is starting to break up."=^=

=/\=We have sent all the birds we have commander! And we have issues up here too!=/\= came the reply. =/\= Get as many as you can to the shuttles and sit tight =/\=

Even as they spoke and discussed, the ship around them creaked ominously and the deck plating shifted beneath their feet.

=/\="We're at the RV, but myself plus six have been unable to secure a place on a shuttle. So at this time, we're stuck on this sunken coffin."=/\=

=/\=Apologies Commander but we are trying not to end up the same as the Jefferson. Just get in there do not worry about seats!=/\=

Lia shook her head, =/\="Roger that Elysium, one sardine can about to lift off."=/\=. Looking at her six injured people, Lia simply pointed at the one remaining shuttle.

Awww...yeeaahhh!!

Nice and Quick. Nice building of the tension. Tight action sequence. Love it. Right down to business. I do not like the idea of flying spiders. That is like....spiders alone are quite enough. Don't need more embellishment on that thank you very much. Gave me the haunting creeps.

Well done, edge of the seat post. Please write more.
