A Surprise for Kara

Malakai smiled; this was going to be the perfect surprise for Kara. She needed some down time to just relax and enjoy herself. He told her how much he loved her but sometimes actions spoke louder than words and this was one of those times. He had booked them several days at the Tahiti Hilton, where they could swim, lie in the sun, drink Margaritas, Mai Tais or anything else and of course have time to and for themselves. The key was, they could relax and not worry about meetings or duty shifts. All that would be forgotten at least for several days.

"Kara?" He called out as he entered their quarters. "Kara sweetie? You here?"

Kara peered out of the bedroom door, she’d been spending some time pampering herself. “Right here Imzadi.” She smiled as she walked out to greet him wearing a summery dress that fit loosely over what rounded stomach she had so far.

He moved quickly to her, kissing her tenderly as he led her to the couch where they could sit together. "How are you feeling today darling?" he inquired his eyes on hers and once thanking his lucky stars for having Kara, not only in his life but as his wife.

“I feel fine, glad the morning sickness is well and truly gone. Now I’m eating like a horse!” She grinned.

"You are not. You are eating like you are supposed to." Mal countered. "Oh! close your eyes have surprise for you." He said as he waited for kara to close her eyes. Then he could put the brochure for Tahiti in her hands and when Kara opened it, she would see their reservations.

“Okay...” Kara closed her eyes tightly, she didn’t want to ruin whatever surprise Malakai had for her. “Tell me when I can look.”

Mal placed the brochure in her hands so when Kara opened her eyes she would see the splendor of Tahiti. "Okay sweetie, you can open your eyes." He told her.

Opening her eyes Kara sat looking at the brochure wide eyed. Malakai knew how much she’d always wanted to visit Tahiti. Opening the brochure she practically jumped for joy as their reservation details fell out. “We’re going to Tahiti!!!” She hugged Malakai tightly, the tears twinkling in her eyes showing just how much it meant to her.

Malakai smiled broadly; Seeing Kara happy made him happy. Her happiness was his happiness. "Yes ma'am." He answered happily, "We are going to Tahiti." As he hugged Kara back. "Unless you don't want to go." He teased her playfully.

“Ohh I want to go!!” Kara grinned. “Question is how soon can we get out of here?

"I was hoping you were going to feel like that.” Malakai grinned and to paraphrase some old song, all our bags are packed and we're ready to go...."

Kara gave her husband a curious look. “Seriously!? How did you pack for me without me knowing?”

Malakai chuckled. "I did it a little at a time. But go through what I packed to make sure you are okay with it."

Kara waved off Malakai’s concerns. “I’ve every faith in you, besides I can always buy more!” She grinned. “Just get me off this ship! right now!”

Mal laughed at Kara's remark, "You certainly can! Come on, I have shuttle reserved for us. Let me just get the bags." He finished as he moved to a hallway closet and opened it and pulled out two medium size suitcases out from under a pile of blankets. "Had to keep them hidden." He explained with a smile. "Let's go.''

Kara nodded, she couldn’t wait to get to Tahiti. The chance to relax and have fun in the sun, it was something she really missed living aboard a starship.

Mal extended his hand to Kara. She was his partner in life. As long as he had her love and support everything would always work out. " Next stop Tahiti." He announced.

~ A while later ~

Kara looked excitedly out of the shuttle window as it’s final approach to the docking port. Once they stepped out of the shuttle Tahiti was but a quick transporter doorway away. It was so exciting she could hardly wait!

Malakai seated next to Kara took her hand in his. He gave it a gentle squeeze. "I love you Kara. now and until the end of time." He whispered. "Now let's go enjoy ourselves."

Kara nodded. “As I love you Imzadi.”

A little while later they emerged from the transporter gate in beautiful Tahiti, Kara’s eyes widened in amazement at the sight that greeted them. Her wildest dreams hadn’t even been a match, it was beauty beyond belief. She couldn’t wait to explore it all, but first she wanted to see what their accommodation was like.

Arriving at their destination the Grand Tahiti Resort, Kara and Malakai both were taken back by the splendor and majesty of the resort. Its beauty was something out of a fairy tale. Lush palm trees swayed gentle in the breeze and Kiki torches were lit at the entrance of the hotel. They were greeted pleasantly at the check in. "Ah Commander, Lieutenant Starr, your accommodations are waiting for you, I hope you approve."

A bellhop came over to take the bags and led them to their room. "As you requested sir, the honeymoon suite." The bellhop said as he opened the door to the suite. Malakai grinned guiltily at Kara but said nothing as they entered the room. He was anxious to see what Kara thought.

Kara’s jaw practically hit the floor as the door opened to reveal the honeymoon suite. To say it was huge was an understatement!, opposite the main doors across the huge living area, double patio doors opened onto a balcony that overlooked Tahiti and sea beyond. She quickly headed for the bedroom, she couldn’t wait to see what that looked like.

Malakai gave the bellhop a good tip and chuckled as Kara headed to check out the bedroom. He was sure it was in a word impressive. He took a seat on the overstuffed couch and waited for her reaction.

Walking in Kara was astounded to see a huge four poster bed, complete with sumptuous thick curtains tied back at each corner. The balcony doors were open looking upon another view of the island, and the en-suite bathroom had the biggest bath she’d ever seen! She was buzzing with excitement as she returned to Malakai, sitting beside him she kissed him passionately. “Thank you Imzadi!! This is amazing!!”

Malakai smiled at Kara's happiness. it made him happy. He put an arm around her shoulders and held her close. "No, thank you Kara. Thank you for putting up with all my foolishness. Thank you for loving me and giving me a chance to prove my love for you. I will never give you a reason to doubt it." He finished as he kissed her gently.

Returning his kiss Kara smiled as she pulled back. “I’ve never doubted you, and I never will. It may have taken us this long to get this far in our relationship, but it’s been well worth the wait.”

"You were very patient Kara and I'm glad you were. I was being stupid." He paused, he was overcome by the love he had for Kara and she him. "I'm sorry for any pain i caused you.''

Kara waved it off with a grin as she took his hands and motioned to the balcony. “Come and look at the view, it’s so romantic!”

Malakai shook his head and got up to join Kara on the balcony. He had to admit the view was gorgeous but not as gorgeous as the woman he had his arms around. "It's beautiful." He admitted. "And romantic." He added with a smile.

Kara grinned. “How’s about we go sit and enjoy a nice glass of something non alcoholic?”

Malakai hugged her, "Mrs. Starr, that sounds like an excellent idea if I ever heard one. Let's go."

Kara held onto Malakai’s arm as they turned to walk back in. “Thank you so much for this! I never expected anything so beautiful, I feel like a princess!”

Malakai smiled, "You are welcome, Kara. However, you are wrong, you aren't a princess, you are a queen! My queen."

Kara grinned. “If I’m a queen then you are very definitely my king!”

Malakai laughed, "I don't know about being a king, but I'll settle for being your knight in shining armor."

“Ohh you are most definitely that!” Kara grinned as she sat down on the large sumptuous sofa.

Malakai flopped onto the sofa next to Kara, "So my queen, what would you like to do next after we relax on this nice comfy sofa?"

“Hmmm” Kara grinned. “I have a few ideas, some of them naughty! But first I’d love to go for a romantic walk on the beach. It’s not something we get to do very often.”

Malakai looked at kara a mock look of shock on his face, "You? Naughty thoughts? I am shocked I say! Shocked!" Then a heartbeat later he added, "I can't wait to hear them."

“Oh really?” Kara grinned as she leant in and whispered her naughty thoughts in Malakai’s ear, then leaned back again with a big smile on her face.

Malakai's eyes grew wide at Kara whispered her ideas to him. When she had finished he looked at her, "Really? I think that can be arranged." A huge smile on his face.

“Hmmm good” Kara grinned a wry grin. “So do you think we should go for that walk, or leave that until tomorrow? We have plenty of time.”

"Let's go for that romantic walk. I think that will put us in the right mind frame." Malakai suggested with a grin of his own.

Kara nodded. “Agreed, let’s go get some sea air and maybe I’ll find some more seashells while I’m at it. You know me, I like to collect things.”

Malakai took her hand, "Let's go and see what we can find. Maybe we'll find a lamp with a genie inside." He said with a laugh.

Kara giggled. “Maybe we will. I’m not sure what I could wish for that I don’t already have though.”

"Oh, I'm sure we could think of something." Malakai replied, "Like this or somewhere similar being our vacation home."

“That would be amazing!” Kara nodded enthusiastically. “I’m getting way too carried away here you know, this is so much fun.”

"Being here with you, is a dream come true Kara and I want you to have the time of your life." Malakai answered,

“Ohh trust me! I’m having the time of my life already!!” Kara grinned like the proverbial Cheshire Cat. “Let’s get down to that beach.”

"Wonderful!" Malakai answered, happy Kara was enjoying herself. "Let's get to the beach."
