751 words - 1.5 OF Standard Post Measure

Arrianna entered the large tent with the cadets inside and then spoke. "Ladies and Gentlemen. It is my perogative to inform you that Academy Classes in the field of science has not been canceled, despite our ship being damaged and disabled, and despite our current circumstances. All Science Courses taught by myself will be held on schedule."

Octavia felt sorry for herself as she lay on her bed when the Commander burst her self-pity bubble. "Seriously? We're on a bare habitat planet and some of us are not in the best of shape" The Trill indicated to her cast leg and cructhes by the side of her bed.

Triston sighed and muttered that Arri's mental slip was now complete under his breath.

Clary meanwhile hunkered down in her jacket with a glower for Arrianna.

Gérard sat down next to Triston, yawning as he had only had a few hours sleep since he had returned from his repair shift to the ship.

"Cadets, If I could find you in a frozen wasteland for your academy lectures. Furthermore, even if all of you died today, and ended up in the human's hell or some other limbo, academy courses will be held on schedule in if I have to pry all of you out of Gre'thor or whatever afterlife applies to you. Academy courses will still be held as schedules. We will make do without our campus. Get yourselves ready. I intend to put all of you to the grindstone for our time on this frozen planet. Count yourselves lucky we aren't in escape pods." Arrianna smirked inside, and knew somewhere her instructor was probably smiling.

The younger Trill couldn't argue and as the idea grew on her she couldn't wait to be doing something again, she hadn't long left until she graduate and who was she to lay around moping while everyone else worked their buts off.

"Now, Cadets... Take out your PADDs and turn to page 304 of your Anomalies textbook." Arrianna noted. (Quantum Filaments.)

"Are you serious?" Clary asked.

"Yes, Cadets. For when you become starfleet officers, I intend you to have the knowledge base to avoid these Quantum Filaments so we don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere again. Now page 304." Arri noted.

"So you want us to do something trained officers cannot do?" Triston asked.

"You're not far from being trained officers, are you?" Arrianna noted. "And there's ways to detect a Quantum Filament on close range sensors."

"Then why aren't you teaching Ensign Derani?" Clary asked coldly.

"That's really none of your concern, isn't it Cadet?" Arrianna noted. "Besides, I'm giving you something for you to do. If you want, we can go outside and perform sensor scans of this planet, I'm sure the weather is quite lovely outside."

"One would think that you would be more focused on ship repairs." Triston said carefully. "Several of us have already been assigned to shifts."

"I'm aware of your extracurricular activities, Cadet. But for right now, you and I are here, so we'll learn how not to end up in this rather compromising situation. Now let us begin." She began teaching. "A Quantum Filament is a localized fold in the quantum realm that has no mass, therefore it is extreamly difficult to detect, not impossible." She lectured.

"Excuse me, Ma'am." Gérard spoke up, his features seeming to be a bit annoyed and confused. "I'm not sure work shifts used to repair the ship, along with burying any more of our fallen comrades, should be so flippantly called extracurricular. We are all fighting for our lives right now. How are mandatory lessons going to help us? Especially as Captain Reece already put out a notice that all classes are to be put on a hold, until after the ship is repaired and we are out of danger?" He knew he could be considered being insubordinate with his words. However, he was tired, and was also still seeing the body, or what was left of it, of two of his closest friends on the ship.

Arrianna thought a moment. "Very well, Cadet Dirsye.. Until the Elysium is operational again. Then you're all mine." She smirked at him. "Think of it as a stay in execution."

Clary rolled her eyes and looked at Triston. "You need to complain to the Commodore about her" she said in a whisper to him

Triston shook his head at his girlfriend. He was not sure the Commodore would even speak to him.
