Rest of My Life

Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Gary and Lia's tent, Ice Planet
Timeline: Current
580 words - 1.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Gary was in his and Lia's tent. He had brought some PaDDS back to look over. Repairs on the Elysium were progressing, but the ship was still not able to begin their trek home. A home that lay thirteen million lightyears away. The crew had settled into a routine here on their frigid home and everyone was making (or trying) to make the best of the situation. The attack on Miraj had shattered the calm and tranquility of the camp and put everyone on edge as the investigation continued to bring Miraj's attacker(s) to justice. For himself, Gary knew what he'd do if punishment was left to him. The attack was premeditated, planned and brutal. Punishment needed to be the same. This sort of behavior could not and would not be tolerated.

He sighed and shook his head and tried to push it out of his head. To leave the investigation in Lia's capable hands. He knew whoever had attacked Miraj wouldn't get away. Lia was a bulldog. Fierce and tenacious. The attacker wouldn't escape justice of that, he was sure.

He walked over to the heater and turned the control knob slightly higher as he tried to move to a happier place and that place was Lia. She was his rock. He could always count on her for support and advice even if it went against what he wanted to hear. She was honest to a fault, and he could never get mad at her for that. She was also fiercely loyal and protective of him, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Lia would love the little three-year-old girl, named Liarrana Imi. They were set to adopt just as fiercely and be just as protective. He also knew that Lia would be an absolutely wonderful mother. Loving and kind, thoughtful and caring, just what the little girl needed. he also knew they would also become great friends in addition to being mother and daughter and that pleased him. He would now have two Lia's in his life and he couldn't be happier. They were becoming a family and he still couldn't quite believe it. It was new and a little bit frightening. He hoped he measured up.

As he stood there, he thought of a time, shortly after he and Lia had committed to each other, and he began to sing acapella. Anne Murray's May I have this Dance?

I'll always remember, the song they were playing
The first time we danced, and I knew
As we swayed to the music, and held to each other
I fell in love with you
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Could you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
I'll always remember, that magic moment
When I held you close to me
As we moved together, I knew forever
You're all I'll ever need
I'll be your husband and you'll be my wife
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Could you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Could you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

Hells Bells you're bloodthirsty. You are aware that's not how they handle crime in the federation? :D

Heck, I'm honored someone read the post. Plus, it was only a thought and yes, I am aware that is not how they do business in the Federation. :)
