An Early Christmas

Location: Heather & Fernando's Cabin

Fernando brought the bassinet into his and Heather's cabin. He had recovered it out of the cargo mostly intact. It had a few scratches which he buffed out and repainted, so it looked as good as it did when He and Heather had bought it on their honeymoon where they had also become fabulously wealthy. He set the bassinet up in Cody's room with a big bow on it and waited for Heather and Cody to come home.

Arriving home from work after picking up Cody from nursery enroute. Walking in Heather kicked off her shoes and slipped on her slippers, smiling as she saw Fernando waiting. “Honey I’m obviously home.”

Fernando moved to Heather kissing her full on the lips and then kissing Cody. "Hi darling, welcome home. Hi Cody, my little man. How are my two favorite people in the whole universe?"

“I’m just fine, tired but fine” Heather smiled as she looked at their ten month old who was playing on his playmat with his toys. “The nursery said he’s been fine today.”

"I'm sorry you are tired my love." Fernando replied sincerely before looking at Cody. "Of course, he was fine. He's a good boy. Oh, before you get too settled in go look in Cody's bedroom." He said mysteriously.

Heather gave Fernando a curious look, then headed to Cody’s room. “Ohh Fernando!!” She rushed over to the crib that she’d thought they’d lost during the accident that stranded the ship. “I thought we’d lost this!” She wiped away a few happy tears. “It’s...beautiful.”

Fernando had followed Heather into the room. Her tears of happiness warmed his heart. "I found it in the cargo bay. It has some scratches which I buffed out and repainted. I don't know if it is a Christmas as we bought it months ago but early Merry Christmas my precious angel."

Heather turned and walked over to Fernando giving him a loving kiss and cuddle. “It’s the best Christmas present ever!”

Fernando returned the kiss along with a hug holding Heather close to him. How anyone could want to make her a slave was beyond him. She was a warm, intelligent beautiful woman not an object. He smiled at her, "Now don't be hasty, Christmas is still to come, and you never know what Santa has gotten for you." He grinned broadly at her.

“Likewise” Heather grinned a wry grin. “I think you’ll like one of the Christmas presents I have in mind for you Imzadi.”

"I already have the best Christmas gift I could possibly want. I have you as my wife and my partner." Fernando replied with a bright smile.

“The feeling is mutual” Heather smiled as she moved to head back into the living area to check on Cody.

"Always united, always together arm in arm. Heather my love." Fernando replied as he followed Heather back to check on Cody.

“Well Someone was worn out today” Heather smiled as she motioned to Cody, who was fast asleep. She walked over gently lifting him up. “I’ll put Cody to bed and I’ll be right back.”

Fernando smiled at their sleeping son. "He must have put in a full day at the nursery." Fernando answered with a chuckle. "I will wait right here until you return."

Heather nodded as she took Cody and gently laid him down in his crib. Covering him over with a light blanket she tucked it in safe before leaving him to sleep. “I’m surprised he’s asleep so soon, I guess that little brain of his needs time to absorb all the exciting things he’s seen at nursery today.”

Fernando chuckled, "Cody is a busy, happy little boy. There is no telling what he is thinking about or what he got into today. I wish I could see what goes on inn the nursery, see what Cody and the others do all day."

“There’s only so much a ten month old can do.” Heather grinned. “Lots of baby toys, nap time, time to eat, and then back to the toys or sleep, However it would be fun to see him interacting with the other children.”

"Indeed, it would Heather.' Fernando agreed as he patted the sofa for heather to come sit beside him. "I was just curious is all."

“Of course you are.” Heather smiled as she sat down. “You’re a wonderful father Fernando, and in another four months you’ll have another little one to fuss over!”

"Thank you, Heather. However, you are an exceptional mother and wife and Cody, and I are very lucky and fortunate to have you in our lives." He smiled broadly as Heather mentioned having another baby in four months. "I know! I am so excited Heather. Two little ones. It is wonderful!"

“I know! It’s so exciting! But...it’s also a little terrifying.” Heather offered a worried smile. “What if I can’t handle looking after two children at the same time? Cody is a handful being so young and...” she paused at the look on his face. “I’m being silly aren’t I?”

Fernando shook his head, "Silly? No, of course not Heather. You are over thinking it. You are not alone in this. I will help you every way I can. We are a team heather, now and forever.'

Heather nodded. “I know we are Imzadi, with you at my side there’s nothing we can’t do together.” She smiled as she rested his hand on her stomach. “Feel...our daughter has a good kick.”

Fernando smiled and kissed Heather before placing his hand gently on Heather's stomach. Moments later he felt the baby kick. He grinned foolishly at Heather. "Wow. You are right Heather. Our daughter has quite the kick. I am impressed."

“She’s like that all the time” Heather grinned. “Eternally active!”

"Perhaps when she arrives, she will be calm, restful. You know? Tired from all the kicking she had done." He said hopefully to Heather.

“I have a feeling she’s going to be the complete opposite to Cody, they do say no two children are the same!” Heather grinned. “No doubt we’ll find out.”

"You may be right heather. It will be interesting to see how they both develop and we'll have a ringside seat in their development." Fernando said proudly.

“Indeed we will” Heather nodded. “As a nurse I’m used to dealing with children as part of my job, but being a parent is a whole different experience.”

You are a wonderful nurse and an even better mother Heather. Dealing with other children is always easier than dealing with your own but you do a magnificent job. Just look at Cody." Fernando replied.

“That’s because I have you to help me Fernando” Heather smiled. “For that I’m eternally grateful.”

"Thank you love, you are too kind. Raising and looking after children properly takes both of us. We are a good team, Heather."

“Good!? We are an AMAZING team!!” Heather grinned. “We were always meant to be, I knew that the day I first met you.”

Fernando nodded happily in agreement. "I felt the same way, Heather. I felt a connection, a oneness when I saw you and I knew we were meant for each other and you are right, we are an amazing team."

Heather nodded. “Without you I’d still be a slave, not free to be who I am. You have made me the happiest woman in the entire universe.”

Fernando hugged Heather. It was she he loved above all else. It was Heather who completed him, made him whole. He could bare his soul to her, and she listened, gave support when needed and disagreed when it was called for. "You are no one's slave heather." He said with fierce determination. "You are my wife. my better half and I love you for all eternity. I will always be by your side."

Heather held onto Fernando’s hand, “You Imzadi are incredible!” She could have kept going but instead she leant in for a loving and romantic kiss.

Fernando caressed Heather's cheek as he returned her kiss. "If I am, it is all because of you Heather. You are the epitome of courage."

“All because of you my hero” Heather smiled as she looked into Fernando’s eyes.

Fernando's eyes were locked on Heather. "If I am your hero, it is because of you and the courage you show Heather. You are amazing." As he kissed her again. Thankful that this amazing woman was in his life.
