After Kara and Malakai had spent a wonderful romantic afternoon in the holodeck, it was time for the evening's dinner. They arrived at Das Alpine Haus and were greeted warmly by Hans. "Ah! Commander Starr and the lovely Kara! It is so good to see you. It has been some time since your last visit. I have reserved for you a special table. If you will follow me, please."

Mal smiled at Hans. "Good to see you as well Hans. A special table?" He looked over at Kara and then back to Hans. "Thank you Hans."

Kara smiled. “You always did take wonderful care of us Hans.”

As they arrived at their table, It was set out of the way so Kara and Mal could have privacy and enjoy their evening. As Mal held the chair out for Kara to sit, he turned and whispered to Hans. "Ja, Ja. I will return shortly." and then dashed off.

Mal nodded and sat, smiling at Kara.

Kara gave Mal a curious look. “What are you up to Imzadi?”

Mal just smiled at her. "Making sure this is an evening you never forget Kara."

“Any evening with you is unforgettable Imzadi” Kara smiled warmly.

Mal was about to reply when Hans came bustling up, holding an ice bucket in his hands and in the middle of the ice was a bottle of champagne. "As you requested Commander a bottle of sparkling champagne for you and your wife."

"Thank you Hans. Could you give us a few minutes, so we can decide which of these fabulous meals we wish to have."

"Certainly Commander. In the meantime, enjoy your champagne." With that Hans went to check on another table.

Malakai reached in and pulled the bottle out. Smiling at Kara, he popped the cork and poured some champagne into her glass and then his.
He raised his glass to Kara, "“Love believes, endures, and hopes. And above all things, love never fails. May our love continue to endure for all time. I love you Kara."

Kara raised her glass, “To enduring for all time Imzadi.” She gently chinked her glass against his then sipped her champagne. “I always have, and always will love you Malakai.”

Malakai chinked his gas against Kara's as he looked at her across the table. "To forever together Kara. Our journey has just begun. The best is yet to come."

Kara smiled then sipped her champagne. “What would you recommend for our meal this evening? I’d like you to choose for us.”

Mal set his glass down. "You want me to order for both of us? Do you want us to have the same meal or different Kara?"

“I don’t mind” Kara smiled letting Malakai have free reign over what he ordered.

"Oh boy, pressure is on now." Malakai chuckled as he looked over the menu. "There are so many fantastic dishes. Let me see." He muttered as looked over the menu. After a few seconds. he placed the menu down and looked across the table at Kara. "Okay, I've decided. I was going to order us both the prime rib and veggies but i decided that was no fun, us both eating the same meal. So, for you I am going to order the seafood sampler. It has shrimp, scallops and flounder and clam strips. With veggies. What do you think Kara?"

“Hmm...” Kara paused. “Why not! Seafood sampler it is, it’s not like I normally have a lot of seafood on a normal meal basis. It’ll make a nice change.”

"Kara, I see you hesitating, So, I will take the seafood sampler and you take the prime rib." Malakai answered.

“I wasn’t...” Kara paused as she saw the knowing look on Mal’s face. “Okay, I’ll take the rib.” She smiled. “You know me too well Mal.”

Mal nodded and smiled. "We know each other too well Kara and I wouldn't change that for the world."

“Neither would I” Kara smiled. “Our relationship is amazing, I wouldn’t change a single part of it.”

Mal was about to reply when the waitress appeared. "The lady would like the prime rib, with a baked potato, carrots and string beans and i'll have the seafood sampler with a baked potato, carrots and green peas." The waitress nodded and left to place their order. When she was gone, Mal turned his attention back to Kara.

Mal reached a hand out across the table towards Kara. "It is amazing Kara for we not only love each other but we like and respect each other as well."

Kara gently held onto Mal’s hand. “After all the times we drifted apart, came back together, and drifted apart again too. This is a moment I never thought we’d see back then.” She smiled. “I’m glad we finally proved that true love exists.”

Mal squeezed Kara's hand gently. "I'm so sorry for the heartaches I caused you Kara. However, I'm glad you had the patience to stick with me. You know even when we were apart. You were always on my mind and in my heart." He smiled, "I think we're the poster couple for true love. You know, true love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart. True love stories never have endings." He finished looking deep into Kara's eyes.

“Then we are a true love story” Kara smiled. “Matthias was always so protective of me when you turned out to be where we were. I’m glad you and he get along now.” She gently lifted his hand and kissed it.

"We definitely are Kara. I Think, no, I know there were time Mattias wasn't all that fond of me. But our relationship has improved. He tolerates me now." Malakai said with a chuckle and a smile.

“I’m just happy seeing you both able to get along” Kara grinned, letting go of Mal’s hand as the food started to arrive. “Wow! That was quick!”

"Oh! That smells divine and looks delicious. Don't you think so Kara?"

“Mmm it most certainly does!” Kara smiled warmly as she picked up her serviette and placed it on her lap, then picked up her knife and fork to start eating. She cut into her food and politely ate some, nodding her approval. “Absolutely delicious!”

Mal nodded, "It looks delicious Kara. May I have a piece to try? You want any of mine?" He offered as he got ready to try his own meal. He bit into a shrimp. "Ohhhhh My!" This is fantastic." He told Kara.

“Of course” Kara nodded as she offered him access to her plate so he could try her meal. She shook her head at the offer of the seafood. “I’ll just stick with this thank you.”

Mal shook his head, "Okay Kara, You don't know what you're missing." As he took another bite of his meal.

“I’ll admit I usually like fish dishes, but for some odd reason I don’t find it appealing.” Kara shrugged her shoulders. “I wonder if my tastes have changed due to having a baby? It’s odd.” She carried on eating her steak, which she was enjoying no end.”

"It is okay Kara. More for me." Mal grinned and then grew serious. "Your taste may have changed. I read somewhere that your tasres change every seven years, that could be it as well. He offered.

“Who knows!” Kara grinned and shrugged her shoulders. “This is a wonderful meal, with amazing company, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

"Kara, you have amazing, good taste. I agree with every word you said." Mal replied as he enjoyed this evening with Kara.

Nodding Kara enjoyed the rest of her meal, she ate everything on her plate before politely wiping her mouth. “That was lovely, and I know exactly what I want for dessert. You remember that giant knickerbocker glory we shared on our first date? I’d love to do that again!”

Mal rolled his eyes and grinned at the happy memory. I sure do! That is a wonderful idea Kara. Let's do that." As he waved the waitress over and told her what they wanted, One knickerbocker glory with two long spoons.

Kara grinned. “This is so much fun! It’s strange though, I know the kids are being taken care of, but I can’t help but wonder if they’re okay. Guess that’s what being a parent is all about.” She smiled. “I never had the opportunity to be a parent to Ezri before, I saw her life being better with your sister, I’m glad she was willing to let Ezri come home.”

Mal nodded. "I agree Kara. We need to do this more often. As for the kids, wondering, worrying is part of being a good parent and you are a great parent." He paused for a moment. "Kara, at that time it was the best for Ezri and you for her to be with my sister. You had just gone through a traumatic event and you needed time to recover and get your life back on track." He smiled at the beautiful woman across from him. "And baby look at you now! Look at what you've accomplished. You are amazing Kara."

Kara blushed as red as their Christmas table-cover. “You are too charming you know that?” She grinned, leaning back a little as their shared knickerbocker glory arrived. It was in a huge tall glass, with chocolate, strawberry, & vanilla ice cream, with toffee sauce, and whipped cream on the top. “Wow!” Was all she could say.

"Only telling the truth Kara." He replied and stopped as their dessert arrived. Mal stared dumbfound at the size of the knickerbocker glory placed between Kara and himself. It was huge! "Oh my gosh!" He exclaimed and looked at Kara.

Kara took her spoon, handing Mal his. “Let’s get stuck in!” She giggled as she spooned up some from her side of the massive dessert.

Mal picked up his spoon and nodded. "An excellent suggestion Kara." As dipped his spoon into the wonderous creation and brought it to his mouth and swallowed, savoring the wonderful combinations of flavors as it slid down his throat.

Kara grinned playfully as she gently splodged some cream on Malakai’s nose with her spoon. “I wish I had a holo-cam right now!” She savoured some more ice-cream enjoying the toffee sauce too.

Mal stared at her and began laughing. It felt so good to laugh and be in Kara's company. "Oh no you didn't!" He retorted playfully and he took his spoon and returned the favor, placing some ice cream on her nose. "Now, we're twins Kara!" He grinned broadly at her.

Emily giggled as she picked up a napkin and wiped off her own, and Mal’s nose. “I am having so much fun!!”

Mal nodded, 'It feels like it did when we first met Kara and I wouldn't trade that feeling of falling in love, staying in love and still being in love for anything." He replied honestly.

“Neither would I” Kara smiled as she looked into Mal’s eyes. “I look forward to spending the rest of our lives together, watching our family grow and falling deeper in love with you.”

Mal met Kara's gaze. "Kara, sweetheart the best is yet to come. Our love will continue to grow and become deeper and more intense and that pleases me a great deal."

“It pleases me too Mal, it really does!” Kara smiled before carrying on eating the rapidly melting ice cream they’d ordered.

"Music to my ears." Mal replied. "Speaking of music. I have one more surprise for you Kara." He said with again as he took a spoonful of the melting dessert.

“More!?” Kara grinned. “I can’t wait to find out what it is!”

"Well, don't rush. Enjoy the dessert." Mal replied with a bright smile.

A little while, and one empty dessert glass later, Kara sat back in her seat. “Wow! That was more filling than I remember!” She grinned. “I think you could say I’m stuffed!”

Mal smiled at Kara as she sat back. "Stuffed? Gee that is too bad Kara. I guess we'll have to forgo your last surprise." Mal teased her watching her face to see her reaction.

“Ohh no! You’re still showing me that last surprise!” Kara grinned. “I’m not missing out on any surprises.”

Mal put his hands up in mock surrender. "Yes ma'am! Message received and understood." He smiled broadly at her.

“So let’s go!” Kara grinned. “You’ve got me all excited now!”

Mal nodded, "Sounds like a plan to me Kara." As he stood and left a nice tip for the waitress and spoke to Hans, thanking the man for an unforgettable meal and evening. He turned and took Kara's hand in his as they headed out the door to their next destination.
