Catch up with Andrinn

Posted on Thu Feb 1st, 2024 @ 7:16am by Commodore Phoenix Lalor-Richardson & Consul Andrinn Orin

Mission: Season 6: Episode 4: Memory Lane
Location: Commodore's Ready Room, Deck 1, USS Elysium
Timeline: MD6 - 19h00
1102 words - 2.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Phoenix wanted to check in with each of her senior staff to see how they were getting on.

So, she made up a timetable and sent it out to the Senior staff, asking them to present themselves at a set time to her office for a one on one.

08h00 – Chief of Intelligence
09h00 – Marine CO
10h00 – Chief of Science
11h00 – Chief of Security/Tactical
12h00 – Chief of Medical
14h00 – Chief of Counseling
15h00 – Chief of Engineering
16h00 – Chief of Operations
17h00 – Chief of Flight Control
18h00 – Group Commander
19h00 – Chief Diplomat

Then she set up her office, ruthlessly moving her desk to the far corner of the room and shifted her couches closer to the window as she wanted this to be a relaxed meeting.

Orin was working down on Deck Two when the console in front of him sent a request for him to come up to meet with the Commodore. He was a bit shocked that it was a one-on-one meeting with the Commodore, which hasn't happened for quite some time. But, Orin was happy to go up and meet with her and to see if he could render any assistance to her.

Getting up from his desk, Orin turned his personal computer console off in his office before heading to the nearest turbolift. Once the turbolift reached the Main Bridge, it opened up and allowed for him to get off and head towards the Commodore's Ready Room. He tapped the button for the bell and waited for a response.

"Come in." The commodore called out and the doors opened. Phoenix stood by the windows. "Ambassador" she said warmly. "Please come have a seat."

"Ambassador," Andrinn said as he came in and the doors closed behind him. Andrinn scratched his chin with a cheeky grin before replying, "I mean, that does have a nice ring to it. However, I heard you call for me. What can I do for you ma'am?"

"I am checking in with all senior staff to see how they and their teams are going given the state of things." Phoenix said as she sat opposite him. "And your team is very quiet normally."

"Well, usually, there's not a lot of craziness happening in the world of diplomats and politicians. If something is going on with the diplomats, a treaty is being signed or something," Andrinn replied, trying to make a light hearted joke. He knew that a lot of people didn't like diplomats and politicians, so he liked to try and remind them and himself that they're all...just human. Andrinn looked at the Commodore and said, "Well, we've been trying to help out with the various other departments and make sure that everything gets back to tip top shape. Most of us have been trying to use the down time to be able to catch up on various things and relax after everything we've been through. Is there anything we could do to help?"

"As to that, I believe that the Academy could use some help. As could Counselling." Phoenix said softly.

"Well, I've taught at the Academy and I'm sure that several of the diplomatic officers have had some experience or another teaching. As for counseling, I'd have to see who had the experience in that area," Orin replied, getting comfortable in his seat.

"And the Ambassadors are playing nice?" Phoenix asked. "I know we had a few concerns when we first arrived here."

"As far as I'm aware, they are. Since we've been running around, trying to understand everything that has been going on, I haven't had much of a chance to actually have a true meeting with them to see what's going on in their lives. The past few weeks and months have been tough on all of us and I've been trying to give them the space to figure out those feelings before trying to bring the order back to chaos," Andrinn replied, knowing that it has been tough on him and the rest of the crew, including the various diplomats onboard.

"Good, if you have any security concerns please let us know. We do not wish to hinder people but we want them safe."

"The good thing is that Captain Richardson and his entire team are good at their jobs. I'm just glad that the team is still intact, for the most part, and that they've been able to help keep us safe," Andrinn said with a small, warm smile on his face. He paused for a moment to think about something that was said moments ago about the cadets and the Academy onboard.

Andrinn looked at the Commodore and asked, "Well, I've actually got a question for you, ma'am. Something that I'd like to do, if you're willing and we can find the time for everyone to get together in all the craziness that is trying to fix the ship. I'd like to get the cadets together with maybe some of the diplomatic personnel to make sure that their diplomatic credentials are up to snuff. Since we're in an unknown part of the universe, and with the new races that I'm sure that we're bound to encounter, I'd love to make sure that their first-contact and other diplomatic coursework is up-to-date, no matter what track that they're on. Is that okay with you, ma'am?"

"Of course. Go for it." Phoenix said with a smile. "Some of them could use it."

Andrinn smiled and said, "Thank you very much. This is definitely a unique time for everyone and I'm glad that we've got the chance to actually go over this with the cadets. Diplomacy is something that the cadets probably think is boring, but now is as good as time as ever to show them that it isn't!"

"Agreed." Phoenix said. "And You can always make it clear to them, that doing a rotation in your department is key to their graduation."

"That would be fun, having a few of the cadets shadow some of the Ambassadors. How many cadets do we have onboard, if you don't mind me asking," Andrinn replied, curious as to the amount of cadets were onboard.

"50... no... its now...32." She said softly.

"Okay, I'll get the ambassadors and Captain Richardson together to see who'd be interested in helping me out with the Cadets, as well as the other departments," Andrinn replied with a soft, but sad smile.

"Thank you. I think they will appreciate the attention. "

Orin smiled and replied, "Is there anything else that I might be of assistance, Commodore?"

She shook her head. "No, thank you for making the time today."
