News tended to travel fast aboard a starship, bad news even faster, so it probably came as no surprise when Alicia walked into Sickbay looking for her father. News about Baeryn albeit mostly rumour rather than fact, had travelled and she wanted to check in on Sthilg.
“Hi Dad” Alicia offered a comforting smile as she approached her father. “Do you have a few minutes?”
" Hello, little one." The old tired lizard replied as he opened his arms to offer his daughter a hug. " For you i always have time."
Alicia smiled the biggest smile yet as she accepted her father’s hug, before letting go again. “I heard on the grapevine about Baeryn, I thought I’d see how you were coping.”
" I'm doing my bessst little one. " He said calmly as he could. " It'sss not everyday a freindsss brain jussst ssseemsss to ssstart bleeding."
Alicia nodded. "Is it possible that it could be linked to the nightmares? to what is going on with most people aboard ship?" she gave Sthilg a worried look. "If it is, what risk is there that other people could end up the same way?"
" Highly possssssible." The gorn said as he broke away running his hand over his reptilian head. " I have Avalon running over the data to sssee if anyone elssse isss at risssk, but i will admit the brain was never my department......" He turned his head to the side. He missed doctor Oranix along with all of the staff who had died so cruelly so far from home.
"So I guess that includes most of the crew, including those children who've been affected." Alicia sighed. "Are there any warning signs we should look out for? anything that we should contact Sickbay with?"
The gorn shook his head. His voice that emerged from his mouth was tired and frustrated. I'm sssorry little one, but I've found nothing that could indicate when this about to happen."
Alicia nodded as she gently reached out and placed her hand on her father’s. “I know this is hard for you, your work has been non-stop. You need rest too father, why don’t you take a few hours off, your staff can manage without you.”
" I can't little one. We have to prep the wardsss for...." He bagn before he saw the look on his daughter's face. A look that told the old gorn he wasn't going to win this argument. " Alright. I'll take a few hoursss off." He said reassuringly.
“Good!” Alicia smiled warmly. “I promise Sickbay won’t go crazy without you, if it helps I’ll hang around here and lend a hand.”
" I'm ssure they will be fine for a few hoursss. I'll sssee if one of the holodecksss is free." The old gorn replied warmly.
Alicia nodded. “You do that, it’ll do you the world of good!” She smiled warmly before getting up and walking over to her father, she kissed him on the cheek before stepping back a little. “I’ll be around if you need me for anything.”
" Take care little one. " He replied warmly a smile on his old reptilian face. Turning he headed for the door and to the turbo-lift. He was already running through something he could cook in his mind.
