[ON:]

Andrinn had just gotten out of a meeting with Commodore Lalor, catching up with the various things happening around the ship with the heads of each department. Andrinn realized that he hadn't caught up with his team much since coming back onboard the ship and wanted to amend that as quickly as possible.

Andrinn knew that he wanted to have Captain Richardson there, as the head of the DPT, as well as a couple of the Diplomats themselves. He looked over the roster for the diplomats and who was on call for the moment. Andrinn saw that High Priestess An'Dalus and Vice-Consul Carlyle-Cragen were on call for the moment.

Andrinn pressed a few buttons on his comm panel and said, "Orin to Richardson, An'Dalus, and Carlyle-Cragen. Can you three meet me up here in the Main Diplomatic Conference Room?"

The disembodied voice of the Chief of Diplomatic Security was heard first. =/\=On my way, Sir.=/\=

Then T'han was heard, clearing his voice with a light huff. =/\=My Mistress informs me she will be with you shortly.=/\=

The soft voice of the often not seen Josephine came back. =/\/Of course. On my way.=/\=

Andrinn smiled as he closed the comm channel and waited for the various diplomats to get up to the conference center on Deck Two.

A few moments later, the doors slid open and Mattias stepped inside. "Ambassador," he spoke with a friendly tone. How can I help you, Sir?"

Josephine slipped in behind Mattias and took a seat.

Imik arrived after landing from her patrol, arriving at the meeting she stood and looked around the room. Saying nothing she sat down and listened to what was being said.

Arriving last as usual the door barely had time to open as the High Priestess thundered inside with heavy hoof steps.

"I do hope I'm not late, but I had to find something to wear..." Anne hummed sarcastically, staring briefly at Mattias as she sauntered around the table with little more than jewellery adoring her figure.

"Is there anyone else joining us?" She added as she pulled the chair away from the table in one swift and brutish tug. "Or is this it?"

Anne glanced about briefly, looking down at everyone before her with an air of superiority that dared to be challenged.

Then promptly sat down, seemingly disinterested in anyone answering her question.

Josephine had to smile. The Ambassador had a style all her own.

Once everyone has arrived, Mattias looked over at Orin. "What was it that you wished to discuss, Ambassador?"

"Well, it has been a little while since we've all come together and actually caught up. That's a bit of my fault, so I wanted to apologize for that. But, I just wanted to gather you guys around to see what you guys have been getting into and if there's anything that I might be able to help out with," Andrinn replied with a smile, looking around at the various people who had gathered.

Mattias was the first to reply. "Honestly, not much on my end. Mostly administrative work and training to keep both my skills, and those of my team, finely honed."

Josie gave a shrug. "I have been trying to get a hold of all the information I missed while on Maternity leave."

"I've been assisting families that lost loved ones when we first arrived, It's mostly children that have been affected, losing one or both parents... It's heartbreaking," An'Dalus stated.

"How is you and your baby doing by the way Josie? I hope that they're doing well and you guys have had enough time to recover?!" Andrinn asked, wanting to see how both mother and child were doing.

"We are getting there." Josie said softly "It is difficult but it's working."

Andrinn was glad to hear that both mother and child were doing well. While he didn't have any children of his own, Andrinn had several younger siblings that he helped to take care of when he was growing up. So, he knew and could understand some of the stresses that came with raising young children. Andrinn looked over at Josie and said, "If you need anything at all, just let me know."

"I shall remember that." Josie assured him. "But i am going ok."

Andrinn smiled once more before looking over at the rest of the Ambassadors and the head of the DPT. Since coming from the meeting with Commodore Lalor, Andrinn not only wanted to catch up with his staff, but propose something to them as well and see what their interest level would be in doing what he was proposing.

Andrinn said, "I'm glad that everyone seems to be doing well and have caught up on the mundane parts of our jobs. But, there was something else that I was hoping that you guys would be able to help me out with? I actually just came from a meeting with Commodore Lalor, where she said that the Academy onboard could use a little bit of help. Something that I proposed to her was that since we're in a new part of the universe and first contact with alien races is bound to happen, the cadets from across the board could use a brush up on diplomacy and first contact protocols. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out with getting the cadets together for a brush up course? This could be something you could help out with Captain Richardson, especially in making sure future CO's don't go off and doing something irrational or something, I'm sure."

Andrinn gave Richardson a cheeky smile, hoping that he would understand the humor.

Mattias chuckled then replied. "I doubt there's a course in existence that will properly tame a starship Commander."

"Well, that's why I asked you guys to come here and see what you could do with our cadets, Captain," Andrinn replied with a chuckle himself.

Andrinn looked over at Imik and smiled. He noticed how quiet she was being. Usually, she was quite the chatterbox, so Orin wanted to hear what she had to say about the ideas being thrown around at the moment. Orin looked over at he and said, "How about you, Imik. What do you think of the little proposal of ours?"

Imik smiled and stood up, "I see no problem with the idea, but how could someone such as I possibly teach a Star Fleet cadet about First Contact protocols I myself know nothing about?" She looked around the room, "I am Ojnas, I know nothing about Star Fleet or the Federation save what I learn here, and we Ojnas have different ways of First Contact and the protocols dealing with it."

"Well, that's exactly why I wanted all of you here, teaching the cadets. Having someone that is not wholly within the Federation, but has had contact with the Federation, would have an interesting and unique perspective on First Contact and the protocols relating to it. Imik, having yours and all the rest of you guys' perspective can be invaluable to the Cadets and future members of Starfleet," Orin replied, waving his hand to everyone within the room, knowing that the cadets could learn from so many amazingly wonderful perspectives.

Imik dipped her head, "Neither species kept to their First Contact Protocols when Federation and Ojnas first met, in fact DS9 thought us part of the Founders universe and treated us thus."

"That's why it's so important to teach these young men and women to never follow in the footsteps of those before us. Never to jump to conclusions and to figure the best way to peace with and for everyone," Orin replied, hoping that everyone knew how important this was, especially in making sure that the bad parts of our past were understood by the younger generations.

"I have a science background" Josephine said. "I could help out there."

Anne nodded thoughtfully, thinking back on her time when the Federation was in first contact with her people... it was a curious sight to witness indeed.

"I think I can also offer a unique perspective to your cadets, culturally speaking of course... as most of the issues my people face during any first contact scenario is well, I'm sure you can all guess."

She paused for dramatic effect, waving her hands over herself for emphasis.

"Not every problem comes purely from words, body language is also very important... the Klingons for example are nearly impossible to have discussions with."

She rolled her eyes before resting her arms on the table, her cloven hands clattering as she did so. "The Ferengi however, oh they love us... even give us discounts. Though I am fairly certain that's a lie."

Mattias chuckled softly. "Not to be culturally bigoted here but, of the few Ferengi I have met in my travels, none have ever been truly honest in our dealings. If I am wrong, I would be glad and humbled to learn the difference."

"I like to think they're honest with their dishonesty... as much as they protest otherwise," Anne remarked with a soft smile as if remembering a moment from long ago.

"Though when you know they're telling the truth, that's when you should be concerned."

Mattias simply nodded and chuckled softly.

Orin couldn't hold back a smile when he heard everyone talking, adding a little bit to the conversation. He knew that each person within the room would be able to bring something new to the cadets and that's why he wanted everyone here. Once everyone quieted down, Orin got up and said, "Well, this is why I loved the idea of helping out the cadets. What I'd like for each of you to do is just write something up for me about how and what you'd like to teach the cadets about. It doesn't have to be diplomatic, like Anne, Josephine, and Mattias were talking about. And if you have trouble picking just one, do your top three then. How does that sound to everyone?"

Josie nodded."Works for me"

Josh had entered and stood silently against the door. He was Mattias's number 2 and he would just listen and go with what the group decided even as his eyes swept the room and its occupants. Imik the mysterious Onjas but was dependable as any marine. Anne the ambassador arrogant and proud who seemed to delight in provoking other but he was sure she could be counted on in a fight. Mattias, his mentor and friend. He had supported and comforted Josh following the death of Hendrix. Then finally Orin. Josh still didn't know much about him other then he seemed dependable.

"Okay, I'd like everyone to write me something up and send me a general outline of what you'd like to pass onto the next generation before the end of the week. If there isn't else, everyone is dismissed," Orin said, waving his hand and allowing everyone to be dismissed, unless they had something for him.

Mattias stood and made his way out of the meeting room. He had a few ideas of what to write about, to teach any cadets who are interested in joining the Diplomatic Security Corps.

Orin smiled as everyone filed out of the Diplomatic Conference Room and began thinking about what they could pass onto the next generation. Orin hadn't been in such a position as he was currently in for quite some time, but Orin was excited to be able to pass on knowledge to the next generation again. He had several ideas that he wanted to pass on, so once everyone exited the Conference Room, Orin headed down to his office to put them to paper.

I love reading these dang diplomatic posts. It's good to see how the differing Ambassadors are coming together - or not - and the challenges they face trying to integrate. I like the way Imik has different challenges han anyone else. And I like how the Sequus folks are such the "special needs" group. LOL. Very fun.
