Visiting Hours...

Posted on Tue Feb 20th, 2024 @ 10:22am by Staff Sergeant Liam "Swede" Reece [Reece]

Mission: Season 6: Episode 4: Memory Lane
Location: USS Elysium, Sickbay
Timeline: MD 8 / 1530 hours
720 words - 1.4 OF Standard Post Measure

At 1530, on the dot, the doors to Sickbay slid open, and Staff Sergeant Liam Reece strode in. He had been coming to sickbay every single day, once his duties were done. His family was being cared for by the CMO, Commander Sthilg, and his staff.

Samaire and Skylah weren't in sickbay to be treated for any injuries. Instead, they were being held in cryo-stasis. The reason for that was because of where the ship was currently located.

Thaih'ea-controlled space.

Samaire and Skylah had been captured by the Thaih'ea, nearly a century before, along with the rest of their shipmates. Their ship was later found, a couple years ago, and most of the crew were found, stuck in some sort hibernation state, in Pods of some kind.

Since they came into his life, Liam had felt a peace, he didn't even realize that he was missing. They both were his world, and he would do anything to protect them.

Nodding to a few nurses as he made his way to where the status tubes were, Liam first saw his Executive Officer, Captain Tonelly, sitting by the tube that now contained his mate and mother of his daughter. Word had spread fast through Maring Country, when Lieutenant Whavi had been put in stasis to keep her alive. Everyone had come together, to support their X-O, a man who had shown himself to be both an honorable warrior, and a good man.

Moving quietly past Captain Tonelly, so as not to disturb him, Liam finally made it to his destination.

"Hey now, how are my best two ladies doing today, huh?" He grinned as he am quietly asked the question he always asked when he came to visit his family. Looking down through the transparent aluminum observation window, he looked at the two faces that were etched on his heart.

Samaire and Skylah were still in perfect hibernation, even though they looked like they were simply sleeping.

Reaching up to touch the window, Liam yearned to feel his wife's skin under his fingertips again, hear her speak his name, watch her move when she didn't think he was watching. There was zero doubt, she was the woman that he would love for the rest of his life.

He then moved his eyes to the face of his little angel, Skylah. While she wasn't his flesh and blood, he still thought of her as his daughter. She was such a bright, funny, loving little girl, and he was honored that she both cared for and respected him.

For both of these women, he would burn the heavens if even a single hair on their heads was hurt.

"So, they finally sent an away team down to the planet belonging to the Thaih'ea. I'm not sure what they are hoping to accomplish, they don't tell us grunts anything." He sat down in the chair provided for him by the medical staff, as he continued to speak to his two loves.

"Sky, Hendor's been asking about you, even gave me one of his favorite stuffed animals to give to you." He grinned happily. "I think you've got him hooked, little girl. Just remember, no matter how much your aunt and I like him, I'd he tries anything, we will be on his ass." He chuckled softly as he continued.

"Sam, baby...I know it's only been about a week since you went under, but I miss you terribly, honey. I'm doing my bevst, but it's tough without you by my side. I love you so much, baby!"

For the next hour, he stayed where was, talking to Sam and Skylah about how his days were going. Finally, it was time for him to head back to the empty cabin that was their repaired home. He had yet to do any decorating, wanting to wait for his two loves to wake up and help him. Standing up, he placed a kiss on the window, over each of their faces.

"I'll see you tomorrow, my angels. I love you both so much!" He then, reluctantly, turned and made his way back out of sickbay. He'd make his way home, take a shower, have some dinner, feed Seraph, then probably fall asleep on the couch. Only to wake up in the morning, and do everything all over again.
