Mission: Season 6: Episode 4: Memory Lane
Location: Crew quarters, deck 21
Timeline: MD 07 22.30
775 words - 1.6 OF Standard Post Measure

Ran Th'shyniq let bliss wash over him, dropping his forehead to his lover's, and breathed deep. Salot stroked a hand through his hair, gentle and careful to avoid his sensitive antennae, and for a moment they stayed like that, before Ran toppled to one side, uncaring of the mess he left behind. "Cold gods, you're amazing."

Salot didn't smile, that would be too close to emotion, but his voice was softer and warmer. Enough to thaw a frozen Andorian heart, "You delight me in ways I neither understand, nor imagined possible."

Ran laughed into the pillow. "I think that’s a compliment."

Salot rolled onto his own side, likewise uncaring of the mess. "It was. Your… you are … This… is nice."

The Andorian looked at the Vulcan, then leant forward and kissed his nose impishly. "Your pillow talk needs work."

Salot raised an eyebrow. "You'll just have to allow me more opportunities to practise."

"You're insatiable."

"I have good reason to be."

Ran grinned at the flattery. "Getting better."

Salot reached over and handed him one of the warm cloths he'd prepared earlier, keeping the other for himself, "before we get glued together."

"And I take it back." Ran groaned, but also took the cloth to start cleaning up the worst of it. After a moments wiping he said, "I'm thinking of asking for a transfer out of Flight."

His vulcan lover gave him sharp look. "Why?"

"Well, some of its the Derani thing. Don't want to be reminded that people think I did that to... anyone, let alone my boss or a girl barely out of her teens."

"She's our age."

"Yeah well, that's not what if feels like. Any way. Its only partly that. Its mostly this. Us."

"Us?" Salot asked, voice and expression very, very neutral.

"Yeah. I like it, and I want more. I want to keep it. Keep us." Ran looked away for a moment, cheeks flushing indigo. "And the Ruperts get twitchy about two people in the same department going at it like rabbits."

"We do not go at it like rabbits," Salot pointed out primly, "Rabbits are notably heterosexual."

Ran groaned. "Vulcans should not have a sense of humor. Especially when I can't do anything about it for at least another twenty minutes. Ugh." He threw the cloth at the tray on the nightstand. He could deal with it later, "Anyway. The Ruperts don't like it, and I'd rather not give them any excuse to come at me again,. So given the choice between you and flight control, I choose you."

"I..."The Vulcan trailed off, then pulled Ran to him, kissed him gently. "Illogical creature."

"You have enough logic for the both of us."

"Unfortunately," Salot agreed. "Which is why I must point out that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and at this time, our department needs stability and healing, not schism and recrimination. Your skills will be a dire loss."

Ran's antennae leaned towards his partner. He'd learnt not to jump to conclusions, and let Salot finish before he allowed his emotions to react. "But?"

"I find myself unable to sequester my desires beneath logic. Maybe it is the stress of these dreams we have lately. Or the logic of knowing that the life we have here is likely to be all that we have, now we are so far from our galaxy. And I desire that you are happy. and if you say that cannot be found in the flight department, I will support you. Indeed, it is logical to do so, if I truly wish to count myself your lover."

Ran's antennae moved towards the Vulcan like a flower seeking the sun,, and they brushed Salot's face as Ran kissed him, slow, and sweet and with every once of affection he had thrumming through his soul. "You're incredible."

"Flattery is unnecessary. This is what you want, therefore I must assist. I will make an appointment for you whilst I'm on shift, and prepare the paperwork as far as I can so its ready for the morning."

Ran kissed him again, this time hot and demanding. "You're so hot when you're practical. Roll over." he urged.

The Vulcan did so, looking back over his shoulder. "I thought you said you needed twenty minutes."

The Andorian scrambled over to settle between Salot's legs, nudging them apart to make room. "You've inspired me." He replied, between laying a trail of kisses down the other man's spine. "And Salot?"

"hmmm?" The vulcan had dropped his head at Ran's touch, already luxuriating in the sensation of skin on skin.

"I love you too."

Thank you.

And if you didn't already know, the title is a line from WB Yeats poem, "The Second Coming"
