When the pods reached the Elysiums shields, they were caught briefly, before pushing through. Each one then slammed onto the hull at various locations on Elysium, the spinning drill heads digging into the solid duranium hull plating as if it was thin aluminum.
::The bridge shook again as the pods slammed against the Elysium’s duranium plating. The sound of drilling reverberated through the decks.::
As soon as the pods latched on, the front hatches irised open and the hounds poured out, attacking anyone nearby, killing everyone in front of them.
As soon as the pods connected with the hull, new alarm klaxond began ringing through the ship. "Breach! Intruder alert!! We have breaches on decks five, eight, ten, fifteen and twenty!"
The sounds of screaming and growling filled the corridor as a squad of Marines dressed in assault armor exited the turbolift with Gunnery Sergeant Gami leading who had been a part of the ready squad during the entry into the slip stream.. The telepathic noise of the deck was chaotic as she put up barriers to block out the panic thoughts assaulting her mind. "Staggered formation," she ordered. "Watch your corners and side corridors." She could feel alien thoughts as they closed in on an intersection. The enemy was near as she raised her pulse rifle, rounding the corner, pivoting. She barely registered the monstrosity before her of bipedal canine-like creatures with cybernetic implants. She immediately squeezed off a three shot burst at the creature.
When the shots rang out, one of the hounds stumbled, taking two of the energy rounds to its torso. The two hounds next to it turned towards the attacker and snarled, rushing forward with unnatural speed.
One of the younger Marines stepped forward, lifting his rifle to fire, but the nearest hound leapt forward and sunk its claws into the Bolian's chest, before chomping down on his throat, ripping it out in a spray of gore and cerulean blood.
Gami couldn't sense any coherent thoughts from the beasts. 'Feral,' she thought in the split second as a tactic formed. She would draw them away from bystanders while laying down a steady wall of fire. "Fall back by numbers!" Gami called out as she fired another burst at the second creature as it was busy killing Jaxx. The other Marines did as ordered as a Marine opened fire while another retreated before turning to cover the other Marines.
Seeing the prey warriors move in a tactical retreat, while another hound was hit by their energy weapons, the nearby handler howled a command, and three of the hounds turned towards the retreating warriors. They activated various weapon and shielding attachments on their bodies. Their claws extended several inches and seemed to start glowing red hot. At the same time, an energy field activated in front of each, deflecting the energy blasts as the began to advance.
The handler barked another order and the three hounds advanced rapidly, slicing through the Marine that was in front of Gami as if he were a Thanksgiving turkey. Two of the creatures turned onto the unlucky corporal and started to devour him as he screamed in agony. Thankfully, his screams were ended quickly, when he throat was ripped out, spraying his blood across the corridor bulkheads.
'So you're the boss,' Gami thought as eyed the handler for a brief moment before grabbing a photon grenade. "Let's see how you like this! " She thumbed the arming switch on the grenade and tossed it at the hounds. "Grenade out!" It would be a danger close explosion but she didn’t have a choice. A moment later the explosion from the grenade slammed her against the bulkhead, nearly knocking the breath out of her as she struggled back to her feet, her adrenaline keeping her moving.
As soon as the grenade hit the deck, one of the hounds turned towards it, taking the full brunt of the blast. The munition totally obliterating his massive form, sending bits flying all over the corridor.
After the area settled from the blast, Chuck stepped out from a cross corridor, holding a phaser rifle, as he was trying to shepherd a group of injured crewmen to the nearest clinic. Moving over to Gami, he shouted over the weapons fire, "I got injured here! What's the best path through?!"
"Probably back the way you came!" Gami replied. There was a pain in her chest as she breathed heavily. 'Probably bruised some ribs,' she thought. "It's too dangerous going forward." She paused for a moment. "Shit, we'll cover you to that turbolift off to the right! Get together in Sickbay or Marine Country!" She then looked at the other Marines. "Let's clear a path to that turbolift off the right!"
The remaining Marines began to open fire steady as they began to press forward.
As Gami began to move forward. Her breath was seemingly ripped out of her chest. The pain nearly caused her double over. She felt like she had just lost a part of herself. It was a pain that only attached Betazoids knew. "Moses!" She cried out as tears rolled down her cheeks. She looked at the Galatonian handler as rage built up within her. "You bastard!" she screamed as she rushed forward. Her mind going into assault mode as her pupils darkened to the deepest black as she telepathically reached for the handler's mind.
Thor saw one of his Engineers hurt who was clearing a path. “Just a flesh wound Simmons.”
Chuck had started moving the civilians under his charge towards the indicated turbolift, when he heard Gami scream in agony. It was a feeling he recognized as learning of the loss of a loved one. Then, he remembered that she was a Betazoid and that she and Moses, the big mountain of a man with the biggest heart that Chuck had ever known, were an item. He suddenly dreaded what had happened to his friend, hoping against hope that he wasnt lost to them.
When he got the last of the civilians into the turbolift, he told them to head to sickbay, as it was one of the most heavily shielded areas on the ship. He then turned, the lift doors sliding shut behind him, as he watched one of the Galatonians, a large female with black and brown fur, double over as she grasped her head, howling in extreme pain. Seeing Gami, he knew what was happening without asking.
Suddenly, one of the hounds turned towards Gami and lurched forward .its glowing red claws reaching out to swipe at his friend and fellow NCO. "Enough!" He shouted, as he tucked his compression rifle into his shoulder and pressed the trigger. A crimson beam shot out and connected with the back of the lumbering beast, causing it to stumble and howl in pain, as its body began to disintegrated from the point of the beam strike. In less than two seconds, it had vaporized, leaving nothing more than an orange smear of blood on the deck were it had been standing.
One of the other handlers saw Chuck and raised its weapon towards him, firing three rounds of actual metallic ammo. One round missed Chuck's head, whistling by his ear, the other two struck him, on in his left shoulder, the other just above his left lung. Both shots put him down as he shouted in pain. The two rounds were metal bolts, roughly six inches long, and the tips had nasty barbs, which caused excruciating pain and more internal damage ever time the Chief of the Boat moved. "Fuck!" He shouted as crawled into a side corridor, towards where the wounded were being treated.
"You like claws? Let me show you mine!" Gami screamed at the female handler, doubled over as she drew her KBar with one hand while keeping her rifle trained. The next step brought her closer as she dropped the pulse rifle, letting it fall to her side, attached to her by a sling as drove her blade upwards, aiming at the Galatonian's head.
The large female saw the attack a beat too late, grabbing onto Gami, digging her claws into the Marine's shoulders, as the sharpened steel blade, sank deep into the underside of her jaw. The force of Gami's attack drove the blade up through the Galatonian's lower jaw, the back of her tongue, and up into her brain, killing her instantly. Thankfully, Gami's momentum carried them both back onto the, now dead, Galatonian's back, though her talons remained stuck in Gami's flesh.
Gami grunted as she pulled the talons out of her shoulder. Blood flowed from the wounds as she ripped the K-Bar out of the Galatonian's head. She turned her attention to the next Galatonian, rage fueling her as she rushed forward haphazardly towards the handler, letting out a blood chilling scream as she did so.
The other Handler saw his fellow officer go down, then the small humanoid woman leap towards him. Snarling loudly, he bared his teeth and claws, deciding to kill this creature with his bare paws instead of his weapons. He released the hounds to attack at will, then turned his full attention to the bleeding woman shrieking at him.
Gami locked eyes with the Handler as her eyes darkened, connecting her mind with his. In the back of her mind, she knew she could not keep this up forever. Each mental attack was just as exhausting as a physical one. Closing the distance, the K-Bar swung upwards.
As the blade started to swing home, the Galatonian roared from pain on the back of its mind. It had never felt pain like this before. In a blind swing, it backhanded Gami with a powerful swing of its left paw, the blow sending her flying a few meters back, causing her to collide with two other Marines.
Standing there, holding its massive head, the handler continued to howl in agony.
Hearing the handler's cry, the last surviving hound turned and rushed the group of Marines that Gami had collided with. It snatched one young corporal up in both hands and, holding her aloft, bit down into her midsection, ripping her apart as she screamed in absolute horror and excruciating pain, before the beast bit down again, its bloody fangs piercing her heart, killing her instantly, mercifully ending her pain.
Gami pushed herself back to her feet as blood flowed from her nose at her continued assault on the handler as the strain was beginning to take a toll on her. Pain stung her face as she rushed again andvshe concentrated harder, bringing her Type 2 phaser, thumbing it to disintegrate. "Burn in hell!" she seethed as she fired while the other Marines fired at the hound.
Both creatures howled in agony as their bodies slowly disintegrated. In seconds, it was done, leaving Gami, a handful of Marines still standing, Chief Finley and the rest of the wounded, surrounded by the carnage that had just been brought to their doorsteps.
Gammi slumped against the bulkhead, wiping the blood away from her nose with the back of her gloved hand. Her head was throbbing as well as her body ached. She knew she had to get to sickbay and check on Moses. "I'm headed to sickbay to check on the wounded," she said though heavy breaths.
After she spoke, the rest of the group started to collect the wounded here and get them to sickbay as well. There would be time to clean uo the dead later, hopefully.
