After rebuffing the initial attack, Mal had just on destination in mind, his and Kara's quarters. He tried to remember what she was going to do and her visiting the arboretum leaped into his head. He made a beeline for their quarters and as he made his way he could see some serious damage, to bulkheads and whole sections of corridors. Damage that was already being tended to by the damage control teams. Reaching their quarters, he barged in, "Kara!? Kara!?" He shouted as he anxiously waited for an answer his eyes frantically searching for her. Even as he called out to her, Mal was thinking *Please let her and the kids be alright. Please. Please, let them be alright.*

Kara was in the bedroom, hearing Mal’s voice she rushed out to greet him. “Mal, thank heavens you’re okay!” She gave him a kiss and a hug grateful that he was safe.

Mal breathed a huge sigh of relief at seeing Kara. he returned her kiss and hug. "I'm fine Kara. What about you and the kids, Are you all okay?" Kara and the children's safety and well being were paramount in Mal's mind.

“We’re okay” Kara nodded. “I had a minor mishap and fractured my arm, but it’s all healed now. The kids are sleeping, I put them down just before you came in.”

"What!?" Mal exclaimed, concern in his voice and his eyes. "You are sure you are alright Kara?" His eyes going to her arm. "No lasting side effects? Full mobility?"

“Full mobility” Kara nodded. “Part El Aurian, I heal faster remember? Besides we got lucky compared to some, I heard we lost a lot of people. I was worried about you!”

"Yes darling I remember and good, I am glad and relieved to hear it." Mal answered and then nodded somberly, "Yes, we did, a lot of people. Ship took some damage as well." He put his hands on her hips, "You have no idea how worried I was about you."

“Well you don’t have to worry anymore” Kara smiled as she gave him a loving hug, laying her head against his chest as she did so. “We’re safe now, it’s all over.”

Mal's hands rubbed kara's back softly, tenderly. "Yes, we're safe and I hope you are right but it isn't over. I'm afraid these aliens may launch another attack against us so, we need to be prepared,"

“I certainly hope they don’t, no one is in a position to put up a fight against that again!” Kara offered concernedly.

"We have to prepare like they will and we will do the best we can just like we always have before," Mal replied with a confidence he didn't feel.

“You do know I can feel that you don’t really believe that” Kara gave Mal a smile. “No matter what we have each other and that’s what matters.”

"Yes. I know and I wasn't thinking. I don't want to worry you and you are absolutely right, We have each other.” Mal quietly agreed.

“We’ve been through worse, I just hope we don’t have to go through anymore.” Kara added.

"True enough." Mal admitted. "Take it as it comes love. Let's not overthink it. We will get through this. Just believe in yourself and your crewmates."

“I always do Imzadi” Kara smiled. “They're more than crew mates they’re family and I don’t intend to let them down. We’ll get through this no matter what.”

"I know you do Kara." Mal answered "And you are right they are family and we will defend the family." Determination in his voice.

“I’m just glad I have you” Kara smiled as she hugged him tightly. “I don’t ever want to let you go.”

Mal's arms came up and around Kara. He held her close. " You will always have me. we'll always have each other and I don't want to let you go either."
