Serenity entered Main Medical and looked around. She spotted the nurse she needed and headed over to her. "Lieutenant De La Rosa?" she asked, though she knew already.
Heather turned to look as she heard her name mentioned. “That’s me.”
Serenity held out the PADD she carried. "I apologise for doing this at your place of work, but I need to speak with you. Now."
Heather frowned wondering what this was all about. “Let’s go to the nurses office.” She motioned Serenity towards the rear of sickbay. Once they’d entered she closed the door behind them. “Please feel free to take a seat.”
Serenity took a seat and waited for Heather to do the same. "I won't beat around the bush on this. You are going to be called as a witness in a very serious case involving Lieutenant Commander Savar." She watched Heather closely. "A serious complaint has been made against him around events during the first attack by the Galatonions."
Heather nodded she understood just how serious this was, especially for Savar. “In all honesty Commander Savar saved my life, not just mine but my children’s lives as well.” She took a seat frowning as she realised she would have to tell the truth even though it could appear damning for Savar.
"And while that is understood, the complaint states that he pushed you into the tubes and abandoned a group of cadets to die." Serenity said calmly. "You will be called to speak of what happened. You are to answer honestly."
Heather nodded, with her marine background she understood the process. “Understood, but I want it noted that I do so against my free will. If I testify as to what truly happened then it’s only going to go against Savar, when he was doing what he had to do.”
"Do what he had to do?" Serenity asked her tone deceptively soft.
Heather nodded. “He was just trying to save us, if you want someone to court martial then perhaps you should blame me. If I hadn’t been trying to hide away in my quarters with my children, then Savar wouldn’t have had to put us before the others.” She said nothing more.
"So he made the choice not you?" Serenity's tone was curious now.
“That’s not something to answer now, I know how this works.” Heather gave Serenity a look that said she wasn’t willing to go any deeper into detail, not that she could lie anyway.
Serenity nodded and stood. "The preliminary hearing is within two days. You will be notified of when to appear. You are not to have contact with the accused or his family during this time."
“Understood” Heather nodded. “I hope that doesn’t include Sthilg, as I do work in Sickbay. It’s not like I can avoid being there.”
"As he is not directly related he is fine, and he is a command officer I am sure he will maintain proper protocol." Serenity said softly and she headed for the door. "Thank you for your time Lieutenant."
“Of course Commander” Heather responded, this wasn’t a good day.
