Posted on Thu Jan 9th, 2020 @ 8:21am by Miran Lalor [Lalor] HRH & Commander Arrianna Salannis an Vantar

Mission: 2396 - A Christmas Time
Location: Officer's Storage
612 words - 1.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Arri waited for Mirian to show up near the storage bays. Her present was something exquisite and fit for a princess even.

Miran came up to Arri with a smile. "hey Arri" She greeted her brightly.

Arri smiled and entered the storage. Opening one of her bays, she ushered Mirian into her personal storage filled with all types of incredible garments. "The thing about Alindari is. We sometimes acquire more clothes that we need. Some of these I've never worn." The unit was full of many preserved outfits. Asian Dresses, Tholian Silk, and other unique pieces from across the galaxy. "And the thing is, at the end of the year, I simply need to clear room for next years' selection."

"Next year's selection?" Miran's eyes were wide. "Arri? Really? You have a new years worth of clothes coming?"

"My people are very materilistic and individualistic." Arrianna noted. "We take self-improvement to a whole different level. Even what we wear is art to us. Our appearance is signifies the care we've taken in our physical, emotional, educational development." Arri mentioned. "We view ourselves as the art our our personal evolution. But alas, I only have so much storage space."

She then smiled. "You may pick two of these, at this time every year, then Phoenix, Nevada, Aurelia and whoever else gets a turn." She chuckled.

"So I am the first?" Miran asked with a grin. "Hmm interesting."
She turned and looked over the items. "Which do you suggest?"

Arrianna thought a moment and walked over and retrieved a black dress than seemed to be on a slight gray gradient. The straps were a piece of jewelry that accentuated the outfit. "When the refugee fleet was still wandering the galaxy, I traded for this one. You'll never get Aleshan Silk outside of their home systems, they trade only with the Karma Trade Ships in the Beta Quadrant. The good thing about them, they sell everything. The bad thing about them; they sell everything. Keep your phaser on hand if you ever visit their ships." She handed Mirian the dress. "And remember the old Ferengi rule. The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife."

"It is not just a rule for the Ferengi." Miran said softly but she smiled. "Its Beautiful Arri. Thank you!"

Arri took Miran towards another outfit. She opened a cabinet. "This evening dress, I wore after my graduation from the academy. I saw it as my departure from my foolish, innocent youth. Think of this dress as. Your last step as a girl, your first step as a woman in but two short years. Wear it when you know deep down you've made this leap." The dress was navy blue with a seam along the side. Simple, elegant, but within regulation. It aired maturity and growth. "Whatever you decide to do with your life. I will support, even if you don't follow Phoenix into Starfleet." She noted.

Miran smiled at that. "She is pretty sure I won't." Miran studied the gown. "Its gorgeous Arri."

"I don't mean to sound like a recruiter, Miran. But I would support you if you did join. When I graduated from the Academy, my first assignment as a Starfleet Officer was to evacuate Romulus. It was harrowing." She noted. "There are those moments in life we're taken into the forge and remade, Miran. You'll face many of those moments, and when you do. Never forget this dress."

"I won't" Miran smiled. And then she impulsively hugged Arri. "Thank you Arri!"

"Now, I have to let Phoenix take the pick of the pile. Don't tell her you were first." Arri chuckled.

"My lips are sealed" Miran grinned.
